Xenoblade Chronicles X (Wii U)

Recommended Posts

Yeah, NoA probably won't do a whole lot to advertise the game. I still remember that it took them months to include Xenoblade 3D in their New 3DS commercials. You know, the game that's kind of exclsuive to the system, and would probably be helpful to show off to let customers know that there are some games only the New 3DS can play... From what I've seen, NoE is doing a great job at marketing Xenoblade X, between playable demos and that special deal for getting the Wii version. I just hope that NoA learns from them soon.

I really don't get why NoA don't support their own games. We are seeing it now with Fatal Frame being digital-only it won't benefit from being advertised. NoA not having Xeno X playable at PAX was silly. The panel was at least a good idea from them I guess. I guess NoA doesn't see any reason to push niche titles, but after Shulk's inclusion in Smash you think it would've boosted the popularity somewhat. Edited by KHSoraKeyBlade

Yeah, I'm also really confused by NoA's marketing. They spend so much time showing off indie games and third party titles, but their own more obscure games get barely any spotlight.

I always look back to when the Wii U was announced at E3 2011 and how they said they wanted to get the gamers back on their side after what happened with the Wii. They showed us games like Batman, Mass Effect and a new IP in Zombi U. Then I look at how they did E3 2015 and third party support is on the decline so bad that it doesn't even have the shovelware that plagued the Wii/DS and the games that the gamers are interested in barely get looked at in favour of other Nintendo titles or just straight up won't get announced (Metroid/F-Zero). Then we get that guy who got fired for saying how Xenoblade wasn't worth the localisation effort (even though NoA didn't even go to the effort in the first place). I'm not trying to hate on Star Fox or Mario Maker or any other titles that the Wii U is getting this year, but Xenoblade is a huge RPG that could do with a nice push for the holidays.... but I guess the series is just a niche one. Any idea how Chronicles did across the Wii/n3DS in America?

Wait, he actually said that? I heard someone from the Treehouse was fired for talking a bit about their processes, but I didn't look into the exact reasons all that much.

As for how Xenoblade did out here, I'm pretty sure that the Wii version sold out very quickly, although it had a very limited stock and was only sold by Gamestop. I don't think I've heard anything about the New 3DS version's sales.

It was something along the lines of how fans don't appreciate how much it costs to localise games like Xenoblade and how it isn't worth it. The actual quote alludes me though, apologies.

It's fine. Kind of a weird quote for him to say after the game completely sold out, and the fact that NoA didn't even translate Xenoblade, as you mentioned earlier... I don't think I'll ever understand NoA's stance on localizing RPGs.

Good news for you North American folk. Special Edition has been announced!

http://www.siliconera.com/2015/08/29/xenoblade-chronicles-x-special-edition-announced-for-north-america/

It contains the following:

  • The Xenoblade Chronicles X game
  • A gorgeous book of concept art with more than 100 pages, featuring select art for the very first time
  • A unique USB drive modeled after the game’s “Lifehold Unit,” pre-loaded with a selection of 10 music tracks from the game’s memorable soundtrack
  • A limited-edition matted 5×7 art card of a painting done for the game by illustrator Takashi Kojo

Gotta admit, that USB is really neat.

I'll miss the poster and steelbook case, but the flash drive does look really, really nice.

I just hope pre-orders last a while, since there's absolutely no way that I can afford this right now. xD

Well, I think I've come to a conclusion. I'm going to be selling my old 3DS for the Special Edition. The original 3DS I have only collects dust anyway, as I've only used it for messing with the clock setting in old DS games or trades in Pokemon games, both of which I could use my New 3DS, or borrow a brothers' 3DS to do. I'll miss the old thing, but it's a worthy sacrifice.

Kinda hoping Best Buy will sell the SE since I get a discount on new games through them thanks to the GCU, although I'm fine with getting it through Amazon if that's the only option.

I'm a little bit late on this (by a little late I mean a couple hours), but GameStop opened in-store pre-orders for the Special Edition today. No clue if they've still got good stock, but I managed to reserve it around an hour ago. You only need to put down $25, and you can pay the rest later. Or just pay the full $89.99 up front, if that works for you.

That's good. I asked my local Gamestop the other week would they be taking preorders for the SE here in Europe, but because it wasn't listed on their computer they couldn't give me a straight answer. Though they said to just keep checking back so fingers crossed.I hope Nintendo are smarter this time round in the US for shipments though, the game isn't exclusive to Gamestop again is it?

Hopefully you'll be able to pre-order the Special Edition soon. I believe GameStop is still offering in-store pre-orders out here, so if the stock in Europe is as good as it is out here, I don't think it should be too difficult for you to get it.

No, all major retailers are getting it this time around. I was originally going to avoid getting it from GameStop, but I didn't want to miss my shot at getting the Special Edition.

Here's some new footage of the English version of Xenoblade Chronicles X. This contains more of the English VA in the game:

Also here's more English gameplay:

This will be ported to the 3DS. I can see it happening.

The 3DS couldn't even play the original Xenoblade without a hardware upgrade, and the hardware upgrade barely got the game to the point where it was playable on the New 3DS. There's no way a game five times larger than the first could fit on a 3DS cartridge and work on the same hardware. Xenoblade X was nearly a 2-disc game. This one's definitely going to be exclusive to Wii U, unless it gets a remake far down the road on the next console.

Well someone did a gameplay comparison and XCX's Mira is about 5X THE SIZE OF SKYRIM O_o

I know what I'll be playing in wait for KH3 now.

Wow that's pretty impressive. Though I am still excited to play Fallout 4. Because that game, Uncharted 4, Batman Arkham Knight, Bayonetta 1&2, Smash bros, Mario Kart 8, and Splatoon will keep me fully occupied and help me wait for KH3.

As visually glorious as this looks on the Wii U, I actually prefer the original Xenoblade. The characters were more enjoyable on that version.

GameXplain have uploaded 3 videos of a Q&A in regards to the game. I've seen the first two parts so far and it is spoiler free in terms of story and all that. Definitely worth looking into! The video is just random gameplay while the two guys talk :D

You haven't played the new one yet to judge the new cast though? Apparently there is a huge cast of characters in the new one and they are really well written. As great as Shulk, Reyn and co. were in the previous game why feel the need to compare? I'd say wait for the game to come out before judging if the game has a more enjoyable cast.

I completely forgot to post these here, but Nintendo of Europe added a couple trailers to their YouTube channel. One of which is a story trailer, while the other is more of a general overview type of trailer. I'll post both below!

I also just noticed that I forgot to post the survival guides on here. If anyone hasn't seen them yet, they're pretty much the old Japanese streams, just without the characters narrating them. They're pretty interesting, and we've still got one more coming in the next couple of weeks. Here's a link to the playlist, which has all three currently released videos:

Finally, Nintendo of America did a Nintendo Minute focused on the game. I haven't watched it yet, but I'll leave it here in case anyone's curious.

On a final note, 13 days, everyone!

I really cannot wait for the release date to roll around. Sadly it's looking like I'll be waiting until Christmas Day to get my hands on it. Which is fine from a college work perspective any ways haha.

Once I get into the world of Mira I'll definitely be sharing some screenshots* here any ways :)

*spoiler free of course!

Yeah, there would definitely still be a good side to holding off a little bit. xD I'm still planning to pick it up at launch (Still need to finish paying off the pre-order, though), which will probably interfere a bit with my own work... I'll still have time, probably.

I completely forgot about the possibility of sharing screenshots here. I might do the same thing!
