KH2 Ok, I'm a bit worried. What's this about the delayed drive forms?

So I decided to hop back on the forums and see what people are saying about 2.5, and I've read numerous posts about a significant delay when entering a drive form. This really worries me, can someone clarify or confirm this? Thanks!

In 2.5, for some bizarre reason, when you activate Drive Forms, you are stuck in the Transformation Animation for longer than usual, sometimes for 5 Seconds.

 

I don't know if it's because of the PS3 or Blu-Ray or Square-Enix programming it wrong but, it is unusual.

Wow. This really sucks, I guess I could live with that, but does it affect gameplay? I read that during the delay it can be cancelled when your hit, or something.

I don't know of that but, I do know you can Pause Buffer it to shorten the time it takes. If you don't know, it's where you pause during the transformation and then unpause. I think. That's the most I know.

Well, when my PS2 and my copy of KH II got a little older I had a similar issue I'd be stuck in the animation for a few seconds, but it also froze the enemies so I never got attacked in the processes. I know the game/system itself wasn't frozen because the music played and I could move the camera. If this isn't a new issue specific to 2.5 but rather the one I was having then you don't have to worry about the transformation being interrupted.

I'd guess Blu-ray (BR takes longer to load than DVD in general); it's the main reason why the speedrunning community prefers PS2 KH2FM.

My beaten up copy of KH2 has the same problem

and it IS a problem, if you're planning on doing the Hades Paradox Cup, the lag can mean the difference between winning and running out of time

Well it took Goku 50 episodes to transform into a Super Saiyain. After all that 5 seconds seemes pretty miniscule to me.

That can be a problem, especially in Cerberus and Hades Cup, where you have Time Limits

 

It can also affect you against Data Demyx (If you use Wisdom Form), and also in some battle where you want to use a Drive quickly when you're in the middle of a combo
