I have the s**tiest craptop ever. Try playing Space Engineers at 1 fps, Goat Simulator on 7 fps on LOWEST settings, and average boot time of 15 minutes, and then an additional 5 minutes when I try to get on the interwebs.

Please ignore this post. It quite literally is for me to be able to find something in a project I'm working on and I'm too last to switch h it to computer.

 

“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” – Preamble to the Constitution. (Madison) The Constitution is the source of all government powers and the government’s limitations. In this essay, the Constitution and those who made is possible will be explained in this essay.

The Constitution was to establish America’s national government, fundamental laws, and rights. On May 25th, 1787, the Constitutional Convention opened up in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania State House. Fifty-five delegates were in attendance to represent all thirteen states, except Rhode Island. Rhode Island didn’t want a powerful central government believing it would interfere in its economic business. (Source Nessicary) The delegates were well educated men, who were wealthy and around the ages of thirty to fourty years of age. Eight delegates were signers of the Declaration of Independence and six signed the Articles of Confederation. (Source Needed) The delegates had begun deliberating proposals for an entirely new government. The debate continued in heated arguments through out the summer 1787, and had ended with the development of three branches of government, executive, legislative and judicial. A system of checks and balance was put into place so no single branch would have too much authority. Delegates from larger states wanted their population to determine who would be in Congress and small states would have to equal say instead. Another issue they fought over was slavery. Northern states did not want to agree upon this action, they took certain states out and decided on slavery because, the purpose of slavery was taxation. By September 1787, the final draft was done. The Constitution consisted of fourty-two-thousand words and signed by thirty-nine out of fifty-five delegates. George Washington was the first to sign. While others like, George Mason, Edmund Randolph and Elbridge Gerry refused to sign and disapproved of the document.  In order for the Constitution to become law, it then had to be ratified by nine of the thirteen states. James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay, wrote many essays to persuade others to ratify the Constitution known as the Federalist. By December 7th, 1787 five states including Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia and Connecticut had decided to ratify the Constitution. By February 1788, Massachusetts, followed by Maryland and South Carolina ratified the Constitution. By June 21, 1788 New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify. And last but not least, Rhode Island held out the longest and ratified by May 29th, 1790. The government was finally operated and ready to go.

There were thirty-nine delegates out of fifty-five had signed the Constitution. Those who signed the Constitution were, William S. Johnson (1727-1819), Roger Sherman (1721-1793), Richard Bassett (1745-1815), Gunning Bedford, Jr. (1747-1812), Jacob Broom (1752-1810), John Dickinson (1732-1808), George Read (1733-1798), Abraham Baldwin (1754-1807), William Few (1748-1828), Daniel Carroll (1730-1796), Daniel Jenifer of St. Thomas (1723-1790), James McHenry (1753-1816), Nathaniel Gorham (1738-1796), Rufus King (1755-1827), Nicholas Gilman (1755-1814), John Langdon (1741-1819), David Brearly (1745-1790), Jonathan Dayton (1760-1824), William Livingston (1723-1790), William Paterson (1745-1806), Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804), William Blount (1749-1800), Richard D. Spaight (1758-1802), Hugh Williamson (1735-1819), George Clymer (1739-1813), Thomas Fitzsimons (1741-1811). Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), Jared Ingersoll (1749-1822), Thomas Mifflin (1744-1800), Gouverneur Morris (1752-1816), Robert Morris (1734-1806), James Wilson (1742-1798), Pierce Butler (1744-1822), Charles Pinckney (1757-1824), Charles Cotesworth Pinckney (1746-1825), John Rutledge (1739-1800), John Blair (1732-1800), James Madison (1751-1836), George Washington(1732-1799). Benjamin Franklin was the oldest at eighty-one years old and Jonathon Dayton was the youngest at twenty-six years old to sign the Constitution. George Washington and James Madison were the only presidents to sign the document.

  Over two-hundred years later, and the Constitution are still being used in the United States of America. The Constitution is what has build up America. People still may not agree on what the document does for us and our country, but it was to help build America and give us the freedom and for citizens of this country to live in a safe and organized government. In our times, people believe it does well and others believe it has not helped in anyway it was supposed to over two-hundred years ago.

This is an example of appealing to Pathos, or emotional appeal. The statement states that the Constitution, or this formal document, will create and enforce the necessary rules and laws for our country and what its values and reasons are for an action. Its etiquette, actions, and responses at which come out of a variety of situations, the upkeep of our country, and the defense of it’s people. This was done to try and elicit an emotional feeling of positivity towards the Document, as at the time we had only recently ended the war with Britain, and now were going through another Revolution shortly after Shay’s Rebellion.

  “The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; He may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment. He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments. The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session. He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States. The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” (Madison) This is an appeal to Logos, or Logical Reasoning. It spells out the direct jobs, powers, and limitations of our President, what he can do in cases of absence of other powers or other action that needs to be taken. This is done to hopefully allow others to understand correctly and agree to the powers that our “Leader” has been given, or the limitations that he or her has in his or her office. And if this has succeeded, then hopefully allow this document to be ratified and brought into power.

  “The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; But no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” (Madison) This was included in order to allow for people to understand that the Senators and Representatives of our government will be sworn into office, into loyalty, and into service of the people of the United States, but are not required to have a specific religion at which they believe in. This is, of course, Ethos, or Ethical Appeal. We wished to appeal to the idea of the separation of our Government and of our Religion so that our Beliefs in God or any other Higher Power or lack there of did not leak into our governmental system, keeping Bias our of our government as well as allowing for our government to stay fair to every single person, despite ideals they have had.

  In conclusion, the Constitution was what helped shaped this country and how our laws and citizenship is today. Over two-hundred years ago they argued and debated for days, months and years on end to have the government in full swing. Many have disagreed and many have argued to believe what was and is right for the United States of America. The Constitution was a brilliant thing to keep things in order and believe that it will stay this way for hundred of years more to come.
