Well as someone who has played 64, Melee and Brawl, the hype is there because the games are great. Like for example you loved XIII so naturally I'm sure you were hyped for the sequels that followed? Actually, I played XIII last year and played XIII-2 straight after. But yes, I was hyped for Lightning Returns and X/X-2 HD Remaster. I guess I see why now people are hyped for this.
