Why Do You Guys Want a KH3D HD Remaster So Bad?

I can list several reasons why I and anybody else interested would want one and why it would feel obvious:

 

1. Nomura has already said that he intends on doing something with that game, as it "would be a shame" to leave out such a crucial installment of the series. Nomura has an interest, so odd's are it's going to happen at some point.

 

2. It literally is the last step before III. The point of the ReMIXes is to get everyone up to speed on what's been happening so everybody can be ready for Kingdom Hearts III. Well 3D was publicized as the last installment before III, and it's overall story sets up the stage for Kingdom Hearts III. You can't just end at Re:Coded, because that game set up the events for 3D rather than III. You may as well play Kingdom Hearts then skip Chain of Memories just so you could get to Kingdom Hearts II. Not only is 3D just as important as the rest of the series, but it's essentially that crucial link in the chain that will connect III to the rest of the series. *looks at X (chi)* I'll get to you later...

 

3. By the time a re-release would be out, it would already have been at least 3 years since the original game came out. That's plenty of time for the game to stop being fresh in people's minds. And the pure success and existence of the 3DS doesn't hinder the game from becoming a ReMIX, not unless Nintendo has some kind of exclusivity thing chaining it down. But since no such issue came about from remastering the cutscenes of Days and Coded, I seriously doubt that issue even exists.

 

4. Nomura has stated time and again that he wanted to unify the series onto ONE console. That meant that he wanted to have all of the games be available on one system of choice, in this case being the PS3. It makes sense as the main series has been a mostly Playstation experience, with Nintendo being the only other real contributor. The choice to go the PS3 for the remaster series was made mostly due to the fact that III was confirmed to appear on the PS4, so it made sense to have everything available on the system that most Sony fans already owned. However, by that logic, they also would have released them for the Xbox 360 since III is also coming out on the Xbox One. But despite that, the remakes remain to be PS3 exclusives. Likewise, the Wii U with similar graphical capabilities was also left out. This shows that Nomura and Square's interests with the remakes lie solely on the PS3, or at the very least Sony systems, as nothing has been said yet of any potential PS Vita port. So if 3D were to be omitted for any reason, it wouldn't be because it was a Nintendo game or relied too heavily on the 3DS's dual screen gameplay, it would purely have to be out of interests or other reasons such as technical issues.

 

5. It's a matter of principle. If Square feels like retelling the entire story before finishing it, then they may as well tell me every part of the story. If you want to go back and recall everything, then don't leave something out, especially if it's as huge of a plot twist as 3D. They started this race, so they better see it through all the way, no shortcuts. I hate an incomplete product, and without 3D being treated in some way, the entire ReMIX series would feel very incomplete to me.

 

6. It's just simple continuity logic. Why did everybody believe II.5 would come out even before it was officially announced or teased? Because it made sense to expect it. It's the same thing for those of us awaiting a remaster of 3D, not just because we want it, but because it makes sense to expect it.

 

Those are the reasons that I want 3D HD, and I'm pretty certain that they're the same reasons as everyone else who wants it. If anything, the real question should be "Why shouldn't we want a kh3d remaster?" I loved the game and I want to see it get the treatment it deserves. Whether it means playing a reworked gameplay on the PS3 or just watching another set of HD remastered cutscenes with battle scenes on the PS3, I want to see SOMETHING done with 3D so that I can feel satisfied until III comes out. Or until X's story finds it's way to English-speakers like us. Seriously, how can we be told that it's both canon AND not coming to anyone but Japan in the same interview? It's like getting a pat on the back right before getting a slap in the face. But, that's a different issue entirely. I've given my reasons for wanting 3D HD. Hopefully if anything, it'll help you understand what may be going through our minds for those of us who do want it.

Most people who seem to want this want it on PS3 or Wii U. Hate to break it to ya, wouldn't be on either platform. It would be on PS4, and would delay KH3 to 2018. For those still thinking PS3, Square Enix Japan don't do cross-gen and the PS3's about to get it's last exclusives over the coming months.

I've heard no such news and why would it have to be on the PS4? If anything, they've shown their ability to organize how their teams work on multiple projects with II.5 and III. Add to the fact that instead of 3 games, it's only one, they could make them into cutscenes if they wanted, and they are getting more staff for III soon, there's still a good of a chance that 3D will happen. I'm not going to pretend that I think making a game is an easy and quick process, it takes a lot of time, effort, and teamwork. However, logic would suggest that remaking only one pre-existing game is comparatively easier than making a game as big as III. I'm not saying that that is a sure-fire logic, but it's a way of reasoning that can make sense. And Square has done unexpected things like that in the past. They are still considering what to do with 3D, so I think saying that they won't do anything with it before III is just as presumptuous as saying that they definitely are going to make it before III. I believe there is a good chance that it can happen, I'm not saying for sure that it will happen. I don't claim to predict anything until there is an official confirmation that it either will or won't happen. Have ideas and theories, but wait until they actually say something. That's my motto.
