Kiniku

"I won't waste the techniques of the Matsuyo Clan on you!" Kiniku said, rushing towards the rouge before swiftly jumping over his head and locking him in a full nelson, hoping that Hikari's attack would hit now that the rouge was held in place.

Hikari

Hikari's eye twitched. I hope he's not trying to say I wasted a Hyuga technique... She thought to herself. Her attack was a direct hit, and the masked man screeched in pain. Hikari walked over to Kiniku as he kept his grip on the man. "Alright... Time to give us answers, or you'll just get more of that." She threatened, clenching her hand into a fist.

"Excuse me!" A voice called out from nearby. "If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to help, too."

Who was that...? Another enemy? Hikari thought to herself. She activated her Byakugan, and spotted a girl who appeared to be a few years older than her standing on a nearby building that had managed to remain intact. The girl jumped down, and walked to the group, raising her arms in the air. She had long, purple hair reaching down to her waist, and wore what looked like a Sand Village jonin uniform.

Kiniku

"Oh, are you? Did Old Man Kankuro send you?" Kiniku asked the new girl, who he could tell was obviously from Hidden Sand, as he nonchalantly adjusted his hold on the rouge but putting him on his knees and holding his neck in a tight sleeper hold.

"Well... I wouldn't say I was sent here." The girl sighed. "I came here after hearing about what happened. I can explain more later, though. For now... We need to decide what to do with him." She looked at the mysterious man.

Hikari was thankful that they finally had backup, even though she had no clue who had just arrived. "We were going to try to force answers out of him... If you have a better idea, I'll listen."

"It would probably work best to take him to the Sand. There's an interrogation squad there that should be able to deal with him." The girl said, studying their target. "Of course... I also have information about what happened here."

"That sounds good and all, but if you have information on what went down here, we could use it. It's sort of the reason we're here," Kinku clarified.

"I figured that was why you're all here. It's not every day you see Leaf ninja at a place like this... I'll tell you everything I know on the way to the Sand. For now, we need to get moving. That man's coming with us. You'll carry him, right?" She asked, smiling innocently.

Hikari rolled her eyes. "Let's just get moving. We need to meet with the others." She uses her Byakugan to attempt to find the nearest person. "Koukon and Yumi sensei are both nearby... We can meet with them and explain what we found."

"That sounds good to me." The girl nodded. "First... We need to hit him a few times or something. Would you be able to do that, sir?" She gave Kiniku a smile once again, making Hikari gag.

Kiniku

"Heh. Not a problem. ma'am," Kiniku said, delighted by the older woman's general pleasantness. He kind of wished Hikari acted like that more often, and considering her initial reaction to what the Sand ninja had asked, or how she asked really, it only helped his desire towards the idea.

"Now then: Mr. Rouge, I hope you brushed your teeth, because you're going to sleep!" Kiniku said, releasing his hold on the criminal for a moment before bluntly bringing his fist down on the man's head, sort of like how Naruto's Academy teacher Iruka used to do to discipline him for his rebel antics.

"Aaalright..." The girl studied the man to make sure that he was unconscious. After concluding that the attack had worked, she turned back to Hikari. "So... You said that you found your other teammates nearby, right?" She stared at Hikari for a moment. "You're a Hyuga clan member, aren't you? That would explain how you could see them." She asked.

"Yes, that's right." Hikari said. She didn't admit it, but she was glad someone actually called her a Hyuga for once. "Now then... Let's head back to the rest of the group. I'll lead the way, follow me." She said, and started to run off in the direction where she'd found Koukon and Yumi.

After a short time, the group finally met up with Koukon and Yumi, who had been searching on their own.

"Kiniku, Hikari!" Yumi said, surprised that the two had suddenly arrived. "We thought we heard a fight nearby. Was that you two?"

"Yeah... We've got someone to take to the Sand Village." Hikari nodded, and pointed to the man Kiniku was carrying. "We couldn't get anything out of him, but the interrogators can. Did you find anything?" She asked.

Yumi sighed. "No... Whoever caused this did a good job of covering their tracks. The only thing I found while coming here was Koukon."

"Alright... Hey, Koukon, did you find anything?" Hikari looked at her teammate. "... Koukon...?" She asked again, looking frustrated.

Koukon was too busy staring at the new girl to pay attention to Hikari. "Hey there... Name's Koukon Yougan. I'm the future hero of the Hidden Leaf. Who are you?" He attempted to impress the girl from the Sand.

"I'm Sabaku. Sabaku Bunsho." The girl introduced herself, giggling at Koukon's behavior.

Yumi noticed Sabaku, and studied her curiously. "Hm... You're a Sand ninja? We weren't told any were supposed to meet here."

"Well... I wasn't really assigned to come here." Sabaku explained. "This village is where I grew up... I went to the Sand to help defend the Kazekage, and I was on a mission when this place was attacked. I ran back here as soon as I'd heard the news..." Sabaku began to cry, unable to speak any more.

Yumi frowned. "So... There was a survivor... I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for you to see the village like this."

Koukon placed a hand on the girl's shoulder. "It's alright, Sabaku. We're here now. We'll make sure that whoever did this pays for it."

Kiniku

Kiniku also felt sympathy for Sabaku, knowing full well the weight of having your loved ones lost.

"What String Bean said, Saba. We'll take care of the clowns that wrecked the place," Kiniku said. "By the way, Sensei," he added, turning to Yumi. "This is the joker that Hyugamaki and I caught." Kiniku said, propping the criminal on his knees. "You're weren't too much of a challenge, huh guy?" He then made the man talk by moving his lips and shaking him around. "That's right, Kiniku! There's no way I'd ever be able to fight somebody like you! You're waaaaay too strong! And handsome too!" The criminal "said", Kiniku chuckling at his own childish joke.

As Kiniku did his act with the unconscious rogue ninja, Kiyoshi, Nibai, and Juukou all arrived at the scene. "Hi, every- ... one..." Kiyoshi said, wondering what Kiniku was doing.

Juukou sighed. "We couldn't find anything. Did you have any luck?"

"Oh, I found something alright..." Koukon muttered, still staring at Sabaku.

Hikari glared at Koukon, then began to speak. "We found one of the rogue ninja, as well as a kunoichi from the Sand who offered to help us out. We're going to leave for the Sand Village soon." She explained.

"In that case, we'll head off after we find Fujiri." Yumi said.

"Sabaku, if you need a break, I can carry you there." Koukon offered, partly out of generosity, partly out of his desire to be closer to her.

"I-I'm fine... Thank you though, Koukon." Sabaku smiled, now attempting to compose herself.

Hikari sighed. "Does he have to get like this over every girl he meets...?" She muttered.

Kiniku

Kiniku blushed when he say that Kiyoshi was looking at him weird and stopped "playing" with the rouge and slung him over his shoulder once more. "Heh heh... uh, I guess I got carried away with myself..." Kiniku nervously said, scratching his cheek.

Fujiri

The Aburame Jonin then appeared with the group, the remains of his kinkuchi regrouping with his body.

"Did you find anything? My insects are retreating back," he asked Yumi and the others.

"Hikari and Kiniku managed to find a rogue ninja who seemed suspicious." Yumi reported to Fujiri. "They also met this girl, who claims to be from this village."

Sabaku nodded. "I think I know something about what happened here, too. I'll explain it while we move."

"Now that we're all here, we might as well head for the Sand. Tell us everything you know about, Sabaku." Yumi ordered. "Alright, let's head off to the Sand Village!" She called, then ran off.

"Don't worry Sabaku, I'll make sure you stay safe." Koukon reassured the girl.

"Thank you, Koukon." Sabaku grinned back at Koukon. The two both chased after Yumi, Koukon keeping close to their new partner.

Hikari glared at Koukon. "I'll have to make sure he doesn't try anything funny on her..." She spoke to herself, and kept at a close enough distance that she could watch the two.

Kiyoshi sighed. "Is he really at it again...?" She asked, then followed Hikari. Juukou and Nibai both followed closely to their teammate, as well.

Fujiri / Kiniku

Fujiri nodded to Yumi. "I see. That's good. Now, let's get a move on," Fujiri instructed as all his kinkuchi returned to him as a whole.

Kiniku also followed the others, rouge ninja still on hand.

As the group made their way towards the Sand Village, Sabaku explained what she'd learned with the Leaf shinobi. "Recently, I've heard a lot of rumors about masked people showing up in villages. They usually appear in minor villages, and typically just look around. There have been reports of them attempting to steal treasures, though..."

Yumi nodded. "We encountered one on our last mission. He stole a scroll from a village in the Land of Fire, but we recovered it before he could escape." She confirmed the rumors. "I haven't heard of that happening in other villages, though..."

"From what I understand, it's been happening." Sabaku said. "They've apparently created a small group that's stayed in the shadows... At least until now." She reached into a pouch strapped to her leg, and pulled out a burnt piece of cloth. "I found this while looking around the village... It's definitely not from any of the residents." She handed the cloth to Yumi.

"That's... A phoenix on it, right?" She asked Sabaku, who nodded in response. "This has something to do with the group...?"

"That's my guess. They're the ones who did it." Sabaku spoke with a tone of anger in her voice.

"Don't worry, Sabaku. We'll get back at them." Koukon smiled at the girl, hoping to calm her down. "Don't forget, you've got the hero of the Hidden Leaf on your side. There's no way we'll lose!"

Hikari stared at Sabaku, looking slightly jealous. She hoped no one could see...

Kiniku

As Kiniku listened, he noticed Hikari's stare towards Sabaku.

"Hey Hyugamaki, how come you're starin' at Saba like that?" He bluntly asked in his clueless way.

Hikari was startled by Kiniku's sudden question, and began to blush. "Wh-what?! I'm not staring at her!" She denied the act, hoping Kiniku wouldn't figure out her reasoning. With what's going on between Sabaku and Koukon, Kiniku figuring this out would make today even worse...

Kiniku

"Oh, you're not? Well, uh, alright then..." Kiniku said, dropping the subject then and there. He may have been able to catch Hikari's glance, but he still wasn't aware enough to really know why, especially since Hikari was denying that she was even glancing at Sabaku at all. Of course, that did not stop him from being curious.

Eventually, the group made it to the Sand Village. Sabaku quickly led the group to the interrogation squad, and they delivered the man there. Afterwards, Sabaku led everyone to the Kazekage's mansion. "If you don't mind waiting a few minutes, I have something I wanted to talk to the Kazekage about." She said.

"Alright, thanks! I'll be back out soon." Sabaku thanked the others, then ran inside the mansion.

"... I don't like her very much." Hikari muttered as soon as the door shut behind Sabaku.

"I like her a lot..." Koukon said, daydreaming as he waited for the girl to return outside.

"I guess she is... She's different, too." Koukon said, still keeping a stupid grin on his face.

Kiyoshi sighed. "She seems like a good person. I don't get why you don't like her, Hikari." She said, trying to ignore her annoying brother for now.

"I-I... I just don't." Hikari said quickly, now glaring at Koukon. I don't get why he's going crazy over her... He's only known her for a few hours.
