Question about music throughout the series...

Recommended Posts

I've been a bit confused about which KH games have live music and which ones don't.  Sometimes it's easy to tell, but sometimes it's hard.  I understand KH1 and KH2 both originally did not have live music, but the rest of the games I'm not really sure...

Anyway, can anyone list which games have live music and which ones don't? (e.g. Birth by Sleep = Live, Dream Drop Distance = Not live)

Kingdom Hearts FM in the HD ReMix has all live music, as will KHIIFM in 2.5, BBS FM and I think Dream Drop Distance has live music, as well. EDIT: Just checked, unless every source I've read is wrong, DDD does have live music.

The only song to have live music in Re:CoM is Lord of the Castle. I'm also pretty sure they redid some of the music for 358 in the ReMix (At the very least they redid Xion's theme and the Axel and Roxas bromance theme) and they might have done the same for Re:Coded in 2.5, but idk.

the KH1 part of 1.5, BBS, and DDD all have live recorded music. A couple of songs in the Days movie thing got the treatment too (mainly major songs like Xion's theme or the Twilight Town tower music; everything else reuses the version from the OST release), and Lord of the Castle got it as well. (though idk if Re: CoM's music was live or not, but they rerecorded Lord of the Castle specifically for the hd remake) Every other game release uses MIDIs and samples encoded into the hardware except for the Gummi Ship stage music in KH2, which uses live music too.Assuming they'll do the same thing for KH2 and Coded, but we'll just have to see.

Thanks for the replies.

It seems to me though that some songs throughout BBS or 3D seem to have some MIDI components... e.g., the choir ahs in songs throughout those two games sound like they're from a MIDI.  Maybe it's just me.  I'm not really complaining, just curious.
