Reawakening of Dragons

Sign ups are still open until the first cycle of turns is completed.It is the opening ceremony of the North Star Academy school year. Speeches are given, welcomes are made. All appears normal until the grand hall, an expansive room made mostly of marble and lined with thick pillars began to quake. The pearly beams cracked and shattered and the roof caved in. The mighty roar of a dragon could be heard by some. Many died. Some survived. Some... Amidst the rubble stands an old man. "The Dragon's have awakened!" He declared. Adam looked at where the man had stood, and let out a sigh. He had heard about the legend of the Dragons, but he believed them to be nothing but a myth. But today, he saw a Dragon for the first time in his life. He clenched his fist, feeling slight depression in his Heart, but quickly shrugged it off, reminding himself to stay strong. He then looked at the people in the room with a stern look on his face. "Well guys, it looks like we'll end up fighting against Dragons, unfortunately... So, let's go get our weapons to deal with those beasts." Said Adam, talking to everyone in the room with a stern tone in his voice.

"Dragons?!" Shizukana said to himself. What surprised him the most was the man, talking about dragons, and then disappearing. His eyes left the stage and around the room. "Okay,I know I did believe in Dragon's,but what why did he say a reawakening?"  Shizukana then heard a voice from the crowd, talking about fighting Dragon's, and his whole thoughts changed. "What do you mean we have to fight them? I can't really fight..."

 

Shizukana got up and looked around the room. He had seen the guy who was talking about fighting Dragon's, and tried to approach him, but he couldn't do so because of the crowd. Shizukana then sat down, and thought a bit more. "Even if there are Dragons awakening, shouldn't we stop them?!" He then put a smile on his face. "Yeah, I think we should after all," Shizukana said. He agreed with this plan, and waited for some people to leave so he could get his weapons.

Aion felt Rei cling to her as everything went to hell. The boys pushed Aurore to them, and started to evacuate them as the pillars fell. Managing to escape the worst of it...Aion felt drawn in as the man made his declaration. The roar of dragons, a man appearing...

And as Adam spoke, she cringed.

"Are you serious? Something destroys the great hall and you go 'YEAH LETS GO' when probably most of us who survived might not know how to fight, much less have the courage to charge into battle against dragons?"

Even bubbly Rei was a bit...apprehensive. "Charging in is a bad idea. We should gather who we can and learn more...train more...if you go now, you'll surely die. It's not like we have seen dragons for millenia."

Jonathan took up his sword, analyzing it. Balmug, The weapon of Siegfried, the Dragon slayer. He unsheathed it, testing it, swinging it around. He took a drag of his cigar, and looked at the others, Watanui drawing his knives, smiling.

Leona gawked at the man who declared that the Dragon's were awakening. Her face couldn't decide to be terrified or to overjoyed. The dragons returning could have...fantastic ramifications for research. A lost species to study. She was about to offer her services to go after the dragons, but Aion spoke up, reminding Leona of the necessity for caution when starting new experiments.

"I'm, uh, I'm gonna have to go with...what's your name?" Leona asked Aion.

"Two Kings are on the rise. But only one can unite both land and skies. One will Save and the other will Destroy. Will you bring sorrow or will you bring joy?"

 

Ryusuke smirked. This was... Interesting. For the first time in a while, ambition burned within him. Unite the heavens and the earth? "It'll be me..." He muttered. And he'd conquer anyone in his way.

Dragons. Who cared about the man who was here two seconds ago: Dix was more concerned with the people who lay dead burried under the rubble. Damn. Sacrifices come easily, don't they. What about the school? How would that keep progressing?

 

Trying to figure out just what the hell was going on confused him to no end. Plus, the declaration of fighting the beasts caught him in a tighter predicament, and the person who rejected it seemed to give breed to conflicts among the crowd. People argued constantly... The quiet he birthed for half of his life flashed before Dix's eyes.

Snapping Dix out of his short daze, a sharp beep rang through his Bluetooth headset. Dix, before answering the phone, already knew who was calling. He was one of only two people who knew his number. "Answer call" Dix said, causing the device to beep once more.

 

"What do you want?" Dix asked in an irritated tone.

"Ay, that's no way to treat your agent, now is it Mr. Prodigy?" The voice called back to him in a goading tone.

"Alright, then. What job are you forcing me to do today? Decode more messages?"

"Ahh, this time it's not some simple look-it-up thing, kiddo! From now on, we're gonna be assigning you some activities! I know how much kids your age like playing outside." The voice playfully toyed with Dix.

"Activities?"

"I'm sure you heard the news."

Dix scanned the room. "How the hell did you..."

"Alrighty then! We'll put you on standby for now, but you'll get to finally play in the mud in a little bit! Isn't this job the sweetest? I'll talk to you in a bit, 'kay kiddo?"

 

With that, another arrray of beeps ended the conversation. With a deep sigh, Dix began to leave the school. Not bringing his weapons at a time like this was the worst idea yet. He heard the clang of metal behind him, and as he turned around the area, no one was paying attention. A quick look at his feet, however, uncovered his Katana and Chokuto.

"Damn them..." Dix said, as he equipped his weapons and walked towards the crowd once more.

Zaneen sat in the rubble, staring at the space where the mysterious man once stood. Voices echoed around her, speaking of fighting the Dragons, joining together, training. Yet she sat there, unable to move, tears erupting in her eyes. 

"No..." she whispered, clenching her fists in her lap.

Mangled corpses lied around her, caked with blood and dust. The more she stared at them, the more she realized exactly how horrifying the situation was. 

People had died.

People with families, friends, a whole life with joy and pain and despair and hope just...gone. Just like that.

Because of those....of those things.

Zaneen gazed at a decapitated carcass next to her, and imagined her father's face on that body unconsciously.

Shaking furiously, she stood up, her dark hair covering her face. 

"....I'm in."

Rubble and dust sloughed off Ferro s he shakily came to his knees. Filled with shock, he looked around. There had been a ceremony just a moment ago, filled with more people than Ferro had ever seen. And now there was more death than he ever hoped to see. His dulled eyes fell on the old man standing in the middle of the wreckage. A thought floated through Ferro's head: could that old man have caused this? The thought was buried beneath the shock. Ferro stood, and gaped.

Adam had listened to the people's decisions about what to do about the Dragons after he spoke up. He realized just now that some of the people didn't know how to fight, or needed to train. He looked at the crowd in front of him, and folded his arms. He thought about how tough the Dragons were when he read about them. What if they were as strong as the legends said they were? Would these people stand a chance? "Some people here have a point. If we are to battle Dragons, we must first teach people how to fight, and train... We shall not go look for any Dragons until all of you guys are trained, and be ready to risk anything, including your lives, to bring those beasts down, and prevent terror from spreading across the city." Said Adam, as he talked to everyone with a stern tone in his voice.

"Training?! UGH!" Shizukana said. Adam had really annoyed him then.

"Okay, but maybe it isn't so bad to train...after all it is to fight against dragons..." He got up and looked at Adam.

"But can we do this later?" he asked himself. He then sat back down, and still waited for more people to leave.

Aion looked to Leona.

"Aion de Wynter. This is my sister Rei, my brothers Soren and Lucas, and Aurore, a family friend" She motions. "And thanks for agreeing with reason." she frowned. "Anyone else up for research before blindly charging into battle and most likely dying?"

Jonathan shrugged, and tested the sword, analyzing the sharp steel, and swung it a few times. It seemed built for battle. "Let's go."

Leona gave Aion a friendly smile.

"Leona Vetinari." She said, taking Aion's hand and shaking it furiously. "Glad to meet you."

She let go off Aion's hand and waved to the rest of the de Wynter's and Aurore. Her sunny continuance fell a little as she noticed those who seemed gung-ho to go out. She was tempted to just go, but that was bad science. You needed to do research and construct a hypothesis before charging off to test. She gave Adam a thumbs up to support his call for patience from the others.

A King has Awakened? Do you trust this one? Awaken, Dragon!"

 

Something clicked inside of Ryusuke. He looked to this Adam character. He had a dark aura surrounding him. He reached inside the inside pocket of his jacket, gripped his gun and pointed it toward the crowd. Specifically, Adam. "Hold it right there!" He shouted.

 

The roar of a dragon resonated through Adam's mind. The source seemed to be the boy with the eyepatch.

Dix clutched his weapons.

"Hey, you got a plan for..."

Dix's voice slowly faded when he realized the man was no longer on the phone. He saw the dark aura surrounding the man named Adam, grasping his very soul. Having walked his days in darkness, he knew many evil spirits... But something about this one caught him off guard...

 

Looking around the crowd, another boy raised his gun at Adam, and dramatically shouted "Hold it right there!"

 

Dix observed the scene, and was frozen not out of fear, but out of interest to analyze the situation. A couple strong willed people seemed to be in the room: A dark haired girl seemed to stand in confidence to declare her involvement against dragons. She had red eyes, just like him... He looked over to her, then to the man who obviously had smoking issues a bad attitude , and an obsession with his sword. The other girl who spoke against Adam's declaration seemed powerful. With a heaving sigh, once more, he looked at Adam's dark shroud and stood battle-ready. Although something inside still told him to wait...

 

The darkness that was his comfort for years.

Eyes widening, Zaneen turned around. Adam, surrounded in a dark shroud, stood there, whilst another man shouted at him, raising a gun.

"W-wait, hold on! Don't shoot!"

Ferro shook himself. This was no time be standing doing nothing. His father had always said you should never have extra time on your hands. Looking around, Ferro saw a group of people had gathered. Safety was greatest in numbers, and these were the only numbers around right now. Ferro walked over and stood to one side, trying to understand what they were saying. Something about training? What was all this talk of dragons and other nonsense? Dragons were fairy tales! Ferro wondered where the old man had gone. He had a feeling he would know about all this.

Adam looked at Ryusuke with a stern and concerned look on his face as he heard the Dragon's roar. He was confused at Ryusuke's sudden action. He waved his left arm in defense. "You over there. What's wrong? Why did you raise your weapon against me? Is there... Something wrong with me?" Asked Adam, asking Ryusuke with a concerned tone in his voice. Drake was seen in the back of the crowd, leaning on a wall, looking at the commotion with a stern look on his face, and looked at Adam in curiosity. "Interesting... They have struck today... Looks like my work got cut out for me... But it seems that boy talking to the crowd may be one of the Kings... The question is... Is he the Savior King, or the Destroyer King? Either way, it doesn't matter..." Thought Drake, mentally thinking to himself in his head about the events that just happened.

"Okay, then I guess some people have gone." Shizukana got up, and went to get a weapon. He looked, and nothing interested him, until he found two swords, one was black, the other teal. "Ah, there is something I'd like!" He then took both of them, and kinda bit dragged them on the floor, since it was his first time holding one. He tried his best to get back to his seat, and not hurt anyone, and then he walked past Adam and Ryusuke. He looked right into what was going on, and was a bit scared.

 

"Wh-what are you doing? Don't shoot him!" Shizukana said out loud. He didn't want to start a fight, but he didn't want someone to loose their life today either. He then held up one sword, but still he did not want to fight.
