Cucco 1,907 Posted August 20, 2014 Christmas has been Celebrated long before the birth of Jesus Christ. It was only around 300 A.D. when the Catholic Church took it over and renamed it Christmas. I just like to do it because it's a fun holiday that I can celebrate with my family and be happy. People from other religions and atheists celebrate it all the time for the same reason. 5 atheist123, Neptune Vasilias, Firaga and 2 others reacted to this

ReikuSSR 1,071 Posted August 20, 2014 Then why'd you post something lol Because I do not want to upset anyone, yet I could argue. So it is basically like saying I disagree but feel I should not open an argument.
Cucco 1,907 Posted August 20, 2014 That makes no sense. They can if they want, it doesn't affect you. It does when people are mean to me about celebrating it because I'm an atheist. People are pretty horrible to atheists in America(especially in the south where I live)

Queen Tery 4,591 Posted August 20, 2014 Christmas isn't JUST religious. It has a religious side of it. I choose not to celebrate that side of it. I celebrate the family and friends side of it. 2 Firaga and Weedanort reacted to this

Think Pink 1,967 Posted August 21, 2014 I think this would probably be more appropriate near christmastime lol. But yeah it's an annoying misconception. Everyone in my family is atheist or anti-theist and yet we love christmas! We have so many decorations and it's my favorite time of year! I think it's just a very pretty time of year, people are happier, and you get to spend time with family (which has its downsides but is still nice) and it provides a much-needed break from school. Regardless of why people celebrate it, I think everyone can agree it's a lovely time of year where families get to come together and that's nice. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted August 21, 2014 You know, that's the best thing about Christmas. It's a time for everyone to enjoy, no matter what beliefs the person or people may have. Christmas symbolizes the unity of mankind in a small moment of peace and respite. Christmas is indeed a time to enjoy with your family and your loved ones, and no one should have to be deprived of Christmas because of religious belief or not. Christmas is for all to enjoy! I believe in Jesus Christ, but I also believe that everyone deserves to have a Merry Christmas, because every person has the right to do so. 2 OmegaForte and Firaga reacted to this
Kevin_Keyblade 203 Posted August 21, 2014 The problem with Christmas is because Jesus doesn't born on december because on those dates, Belen is cold by low temperatures, so, how the shepherds can sleep and care for the sheeps in the mountains waiting for the great master in that night if it was cold? Firaga 5,947 Posted August 21, 2014 I've delve into both the religious and the, I guess, "normal" side of Christmas whenever it comes around. I was even in one of those plays that reenacted the birth of Jesus Christ. Even so, I always lean towards the general concept of the holiday: giving to others and spending time with friends and family.
