The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted March 24, 2015 Evening everyone, I hope that all of you are doing okay! So then, here’s another chapter of the story, and it’ll be from Xion’s perspective! Enjoy! Chapter Forty Two: ‘Heart’ Part 2 Of 10: Always There When I opened my eyes, Roxas was laying beside me, sleeping peacefully. I smiled and kissed his lips and then sat on the bed, and I looked at the window. The sun was beaming brightly through. I yawned and stretched my arms and then got out of bed, while leaving Roxas sleeping. I took a quick shower and then I brushed my teeth, and soon after, I went downstairs to eat breakfast. Ven and Vanitas had already eaten their breakfast, so the only ones that still hadn’t eaten were Roxas and myself. I sat down on the table as Ven served me a plate of waffles with blueberries and syrup! I smiled and thanked him for the meal, and then I proceeded to eat. Then, as I was eating, a thought came into my mind. Roxas and Riku were the only two people who knew that I wasn’t a human, but Ven and the others had no such knowledge. I stopped eating and thought long about this fact, and I looked at Ven and Vanitas, who were busy doing their own things. Then, as soon as I ate my breakfast, Roxas came down, and he looked quite tired. He sat down beside me and kissed me on the lips, and then he started to eat his breakfast. “Good morning.” I said to him, and he looked at me and smiled while rubbing his eyes. “Morning, Xion.” he replied. “Did you have a good night’s rest?” I asked him, and he nodded. “Yeah, it was all good…” he answered as he ate his breakfast. Then, a few seconds of silence passed, and then I held Roxas’ hand. “Roxas…I think it’s time we told them.” I gestured at him. “Huh? What?” he asked, looking disoriented. “I mean, it’s time we tell them about me.” I said to him in a whisper. “Ohh, I see. Well Xion, if you think now is the time, then do what you feel is right!” he said to me with a smile, and with that, I gave out a nervous sigh. “Ven? Vanitas?” I called out to them, and they both looked at me. “Yes?” the both of them asked in unison. “There’s something that I need to tell you both…it’s something very important about me…something that Roxas and Riku have already known for quite a while, and it’s something I think you both should know as well. Come to think of it…I need to tell this to Lea and Tidus as well, and Kairi and Namine too! A-anyways, what I have to say is very important, and it’ll probably take a bit for all of you to digest, so I’m going to please ask you to come with me and Roxas to the park! When everyone is present, I’ll say what I have to say! I-I know that this is all very sudden, and you’ll probably be a bit confused…but nonetheless, it’s something you all need to be aware of!” I explained thoroughly, and then Ven and Vanitas exchanged glances at each other. Then, Vanitas gave a teasing smirk and he crossed his arms. “Let me guess…Roxas got you preagnant!?” Vanitas asked while laughing, and then I blushed a deep, blood red and I panicked. “No, you moron, why would you think that!?” I blurted out as I instinctively hit him right on his crotch, and then he screamed in agony. “Gahhh, I was just joking!!!” Vanitas cried out as he rubbed his crotch and rolled on the floor while crying. Ven gave out a laugh. “Ha, that’s what you get for saying such bold things!” Ven teased, and Vanitas glared at him with watery eyes. “Oh, you shut up!” Vanitas growled back, and Roxas laughed and smiled. “Guys, trust me, let’s gather everyone else, and then Xion will tell all of you everything.” Roxas suggested, and then Ven nodded. “Okay. I’ll go look for everyone, and in the meantime, you two should go to the park.” Ven said, and Roxas and I both nodded. “Okay!” we both said in unison, and then we headed outside and started walking to the park. Roxas looked at me as we walked, and then he looked at the sky and put his arms behind his head. (Start Song Here) “Hey, Xion. Are you sure they’re ready to hear this?” he asked me, and I nodded without hesitation. “Yes, Roxas…I think that now is the best time to tell our friends about this. They’ve been so supportive and so caring all this time, and it isn’t fair that they should be kept in the dark about what’s truly been going on. They’ve been there for us in thick and thin, so it’s only right that we let them know about everything. I know that it’ll probably be difficult for them to believe, but, I at least want to get this off my chest. That way, if anything happens to me, they’ll at least have known the truth about me. But…the only thing that scares me about this is…what if they see me differently? What if they treat me differently or see me as something else? Will they still want to be my friends? Ugh, it’s so unnerving…” I answered as I became quite nervous. That’s when Roxas stopped walking and then he crossed his arms. “Are you kidding me!? Of course all of them will still want to be your friends!” Roxas said with a smile. I blushed and glanced at him. “How can you be so sure about that?” I asked him, and then he chuckled softly. “Xion, if there’s one thing I’m dead certain of, it’s that our friends are true friends. They’ll accept you, no matter what you are.” he answered me. “Do you really think so?” I asked him, and he nodded. “I know so!” he answered reassuringly, and then I smiled and felt much less nervous. “Thank you Roxas…I feel much better now. Come on, we’re almost at the park!” I said to him, as we reached the park’s entrance. When we went inside, we decided to take a stroll around the entire park while we waited for Ven, Vanitas and the others to come. The day was beautiful, it couldn’t be more perfect! Roxas and I walked hand in hand together, as we watched the birds fly past us towards their nests. We also saw the children playing on the swing sets and merry go rounds, and we also saw some adults enjoying each other’s company. Overall, everything seemed so peaceful, it was all quite charming! Then, as I glanced over at Roxas, I couldn’t help but notice something about him had changed. He somehow looked more determined and confident, and as he held my hand tightly in his, I could tell something had happened to him last night. What it was, I don’t know, but for some reason, I decided not to ask him about it. As the minutes passed, a bunch of clouds circled the sun overhead, and a sudden gust of wind picked up. The wind that blew past us felt empowering, and for some reason, I too, felt more confident. I couldn’t explain this feeling, but I just felt braver than I had ever felt! I then blushed as I felt Roxas’ warmth, and then we sat down on a bench. “Today’s a really beautiful day, isn’t it?” I asked Roxas, and he nodded as he looked at the sky. “Yeah. You can say that again. It really has been a beautiful day!” he answered as he held both my hands and held my gaze. “W-what is it Roxas?” I asked, and then he pulled me in for a passionate kiss, and I kissed him back, and then we pulled away. “It’s just amazing…” he answered, and I looked at him curiously as I tilted my head. “What is?” I asked him. “How everything’s changed in just a few months…” he replied, and I nodded and glanced at him. “Yeah…it is amazing…” I said, agreeing with him. “You know, I never expected so much to happen in such a short time. It’s amazing how things in life can happen so suddenly, you know? Everything we’ve been through has been a life changing experience, and I have to say, I think we are very fortunate people to be going through this. Okay…maybe that came out wrong. What I meant to say is that not everyone has gone through the experiences we’ve been through, and I think that’s what makes us special. We’ve grown during all of this, and well, I think I can get a firm grasp on life and I can appreciate it more. Xion…I know that your situation is difficult, but trust me, I’m not giving up on you. I’ll keep doing whatever has to be done to ensure that you don’t have to die, you hear me? I won’t stop until I can find out what the ‘Heart’ is! I love you Xion, and never forget that! Never forget the struggles we’ve endured, all the memories we’ve created! Each of those moments has helped define who we are! And well, Xion, I’ll always be by your side, no matter what.” he said as he looked into my eyes the whole time. I blushed and looked away and smiled. “T-thank you so much, R-Roxas.” I said to him shyly, and then, that’s when our friends came. Ven waved at us, and we waved back. “Well, they’re here.” Roxas said, and I nodded as we both stood up. (End Song Here) “I just have to relax…after all, they’re our friends, so I’m sure they’ll still see me the same after I tell them everything, right?” I asked, and Roxas nodded as he smiled. “Of course they will, Xion.” he answere reassuringly, and with that, I took a deep breath, and all our friends were now here. “So Xion, Ven said you had something to tell us all?” Kairi asked, and I nodded. “This may all seem a bit strange to you, but I’m ready to tell you everything.” I answered, and everyone remained silent. Ven, Vanitas, Lea, Tidus, Namine, Kairi and Riku were all there, and Riku nodded, silently urging me to proceed. “Well, you see…the truth about me is that I’m not a human being. I may look, speak, breath and walk like one, but I’m not one at all. Not in a sense. You see, my father, who was my creator, created me as an experiment on humanoid life. He wanted to see if he could replicate life, and after many failed attempts, I was the one that seemed to succeed. All these years, I was under the belief that I was human, but when he told me the shocking truth…the fact that everything about me was artificial…well, you can only imagine how I felt. And well, soon after that, I discovered that I was going to die…and ever since that discovery, Roxas has been helping me find a possible way to save me from this fate, by trying to find something called the ‘Heart.’ And well, so far, it’s all been a dead end…so yeah. That’s the truth about me…” I finished up after explaining myself, and then I fell silent. “Wow…that’s really tough…” Tidus remarked. “You’ve been through so much…no one deserves to go through that much suffering!” Lea exclaimed. “Indeed…that’s quite a harrowing ordeal you’ve been going through.” Ven added. I was speechless. “You mean…you guys don’t have any objections as to what I am!?” I asked, and they all looked at me and smiled. (Start Song Here) “Well, sure, it’s a bit crazy that you’re an android lady, but hey, you are a lady!” Vanitas said, and Ven slapped him on the neck. “Geez, Vanitas, do you always have to say stuff like that!?” Ven exclaimed, and Vanitas frowned and crossed his arms. “Hehe, I think what Vanitas meant to say is that even though you are a humanoid life form, you are still a human to us.” Namine said, and Vanitas nodded. “See? She gets me!” Vanitas replied, and everyone laughed. “Xion…even though you may think that not being a human makes you different from us, it really doesn’t. The fact that you are our friend, the fact we’ve shared so many experiences and created so many memories, is proof of your existence. I can’t imagine how difficult your situation must be right now, but I know that it has to be hard. But at least you got Roxas, who loves and supports you, and is willing to do anything in his power to help you solve your problem. And you’ve got us, your friends! We’ll always be here for you, no matter what! In fact, we’ll do our part to help out in the search for the ‘Heart’ you’re looking for! We’ll all pitch in and give it our best, because we don’t want to lose you! You can count on us!” Kairi said, and I couldn’t help but cry. To know that my friends accepted me the way I am…it meant so much! “Thank you…thank you so much, everyone!” I said as I smiled and cried tears of joy. “Aw, come on, don’t cry…you’re gonna make all of these wusses cry too!” Vanitas said as his eyes watered. “Pfft, look who’s talking, crybaby!” Ven said while crying. “Oh, shut up!” Vanitas said as he laughed and started crying. I then glanced back at Roxas, and he gave me a comforting smile. “Guys, group hug!” Tidus yelled, and so we all hugged each other, and I couldn’t have felt happier! Then, we all pulled away, and then Lea clasped his hands together. (End Song Here) “Right, so all of us have to start searching for this ‘Heart!’ But where do we start?” Lea asked. “Come on, follow us!” I said to everyone so they would follow me and Roxas. And so, as we all walked out of the park, Roxas and I headed towards my old home, towards the laboratory, and so there is where we started to search. Roxas and I had already searched here before, but now that our friends were helping us, finding more clues surrounding the ‘Heart’ would be much easier now! In a way, it really made me feel relieved. To know that my friends were supporting me…it really gave me so much confidence! And so, we all continued searching through the endless folders and documents, reading everything and observing every diagram, making sure that we’d leave no stone unturned. In the first thirty minutes or so, we found nothing, but, we didn’t let that stop us! We kept searching, and I was as determined as ever to find out what exactly the ‘Heart’ was! Then, a few hours passed, and there were some notes that had mentionings of the ‘Heart’ that were very vague. At least this was a hopeful sign that there could be more to be unearthed in this lab. Then, as the hours continued to pass, we found nothing else, and everyone was starting to get tired, so I decided it was best to call it a day and keep searching tomorrow. “Come on guys, it’s getting late. We can keep searching tomorrow!” I said to everyone. “But we might find something now!” Lea exclaimed, and I smiled and shook my head. “That may be, but I don’t want all of you getting exhausted for my sake, so please, let’s call it a day, and we’ll keep going at this tomorrow, okay?” I asked, and then Lea nodded. “Oh, okay…” he replied, and so, all of us left to our homes, and Roxas and I stayed awake late into the night, when Ven and Vanitas had already fallen asleep. “Well, I guess today was an interesting day, eh?” I asked him, and he chuckled to himself and nodded. “Yeah, that’s right. Just look at all the help we received from our friends!” he remarked, and I smiled and held his hands. “You were right, Roxas. Even though they know the truth about me, they still accept me the way I am. I’m really happy for that!” I said to him, and he smiled and held me close. “See? What did I tell you? It all worked out fine!” he replied, and I smiled and snuggled next to him as we watched TV together. After about two hours, I noticed that Roxas had fallen asleep, and I smiled and stroked his hair and kissed his lips, and then I turned off the TV and put his arm over my shoulder, and I slowly carried him to the bedroom. After reaching the bedroom, I tucked him into bed, and then I stood near the window and looked at the moon. It looked so beautiful tonight, and the stars looked brighter than they had ever been before! I then pulled up a nearby chair and decided to stare at the night sky for a while. It was somehow relaxing for me. After everything that happened today, I realized that I was truly a lucky girl! The fact that I had such good friends, and such a supportive boyfriend…well, all I could say is that I felt immeasurably happy! I then heard Roxas snore. This was probably the first time I had heard him snore before, and he sounded so cute! Oh, just wait until I tell him about it in the morning. He’ll probably be embarrassed! I smiled and giggled softly, and then I continued looking at the night sky. Then, I suddenly felt a blazing strong headache take over me, and I gasped and suddenly fell to the ground! (Start Song Here) “W-what? What’s happening to me!?” I asked myself as I tried to yell, but I was suddenly transported into a distorted landscape. “So, how are you enjoying your final moments, girl?” the voice asked, revealing to be none other than my deceased creator! “Don’t start with your mind games, because they won’t work!” I said to him, trying to sound fearless. “Oh, then why do I sense that you are tinging with fear?” he asked me as his disgusting spectral form approached me, and I backed away. “Stay away!” I yelled at him, and he simply laughed and shook his head. “Ah, such feisty girl, as always. You truly are something else, Xion. A pity that you will soon be dying. But, there are things in life that are inescapable…you are just going to have to accept the fact that your death is something that cannot be avoided! All of your efforts are for naught, because no matter how hard you try, you will never be able to find anything regarding the ‘Heart!’ You will never be able to find the answer to your problem! For you see…I never truly, concretely found out what the ‘Heart’ was. I researched the concept for a long time, but my research reached a dead end…in short, what you are searching for is nothing more than a mere illusion. The ‘Heart’ does not exist! It is just a part of my writings, and nothing more!” he said with a smirk, and that’s when my eyes widened and I felt speechless. “D-does not exist?” I asked in shock, and my creator nodded as he smirked. “Yes, girl, you are starting to get the picture! What you are looking for is something that does not exist!” he remarked, and I fell on my knees, feeling defeated. “It doesn’t exist…” I muttered to myself as my hands and body trembled. “That is right…give in to your fear, and perish in your own despair, you worthless worm!” my creator said as I remained speechless. “It doesn’t exist…” I kept repeating to myself, feeling all hope leaving my body. “Such a pathetic puppet…” he said, and then, in a sudden jolt, I was pulled out of this nightmare, and when I opened my eyes, I saw Roxas pulling me towards him, and I hugged him and cried uncontrollably. I felt lifeless and numb, and all I could do was cry in Roxas’ arms. I couldn’t even manage to speak, for the shock of what had happened left me speechless! I kept crying for what seemed like hours, and Roxas was there the whole time, holding me close and telling me that everything was going to be okay. I looked into his eyes and kissed him passionately, and when I pulled away, I laid my head on his chest, and I remained silent. Roxas didn’t ask me what happened, and I appreciated him for that. I didn’t feel ready to tell him about what had happened. But, I was going to have to tell him sooner or later, because now I knew that the ‘Heart’ was nothing more than an illusion, something unattainable. After a while, Roxas and I went into bed, but I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t even manage to close my eyes…I felt too terrified… “Xion, it’s okay, I’m here.” Roxas said to me reassuringly as he held me close, and I smiled sadly and nodded. “I know, Roxas…I know.” I replied, as I laid my head on his chest again. “Look, I don’t know what happened to you, but you don’t want to talk about it right now, right?” he asked, and I nodded. “That’s right…I really don’t want to talk about it right now…” I answered him, and then he kissed my forehead. “I understand…but please, tell me what happened tomorrow, okay?” he asked me, and I nodded. “I’ll try, Roxas…” I answered him, and with that, we bid each other good night, and Roxas fell asleep in a few minutes. But I remained awake the entire time. As much as I wanted to close my eyes to go to sleep, I was too terrified that my creator would haunt my dreams again! It was already bad enough that he had suddenly appeared in my mind like that, but knowing that he could do so again left me terrified! I moved back and forth in bed, trying to forget about what happened, trying so desperately to close my eyes and pretend this was all a bad dream. But, as much as I tried doing that, I had no success. And so, after not being able to sleep, I surrendered and just stayed awake. I stared at the ceiling, and I then glanced over at Roxas, who was sleeping beside me. How was I going to tell him that the ‘Heart’ doesn’t exist? How was he going to take it? How were our friends going to take this? How would they react? God, how was I going to tell them that the search we were doing was in vain? I cried and clenched my fists, feeling so helpless and useless. Of all the things that could happen, why did it have to be this!? I then sighed, and suddenly, I felt my eyes closing. I then realized that sleep had finally caught up to me, and I gave in to the silent embrace of sleep. Hopefully, when I wake up, this’ll all have been just a bad dream… (End Song Here) ----------------------------------------- “Xion? The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted March 29, 2015 Good evening everyone, I hope that you’re all doing okay! Wow, March is just about to end, and April is right around the corner! Has this year gone by pretty fast, or is it just me? O.O Haha, but yeah, so far, this has been a pretty awesome year, and I’m so excited for the Kingdom Hearts III news that we’ll hopefully be getting soon! So then, here’s another chapter, and it’ll be from Roxas’ perspective! Enjoy! Chapter Forty Three: ‘Heart’ Part 3 Of 10: Unfair Punishment. As I opened my eyes, I yawned and stretched my arms out, and I rubbed my eyes as I lazily sat on my bed. When I glanced over to my right, I noticed that Xion wasn’t in bed, and then I looked at the clock and noticed that it was almost time for school! I quickly went to the bathroom and took a quick shower, and then I brushed my teeth and darted downstairs and practically gulped my entire breakfast, and apparently, Ven, Vanitas and Xion were doing the same! It looked like they had all overslept, and Ven told us to make a run for it! We didn’t even bother to leave the dishes in the dishwasher! Since it was almost time for school to start, the bus was obviously not at the bus stop, so we all distressed. God, we were going to be late! As we relentlessly ran to school, we suddenly heard a distant honk, and when we all looked back, it was Cid, coming to the rescue! He had come just in the knick of time! He had a big smile on his face, and we all laughed and felt relieved. We all stopped running and waited for Cid to come to us, and then he opened the door to the bus and he signaled us to come aboard. He shook his head and rolled his eyes while laughing. “I swear, you kids are really lazy bums!” he remarked as he laughed, and we all laughed with him. “Well, can you blame us? Roxas and Xion were doing strange things in the late hours of the night!” Vanitas teased, and Xion and I immediately blushed. “H-hey, we did no such thing!” Xion exclaimed as she punched Vanitas’ shoulder, and everyone laughed. “Hoo boy, well ain’t that something?” Cid asked, and Xion looked at him with a panicked expression! “No, we didn’t do anything, really!” she insisted, and everyone kept laughing. “Haha, don’t worry you two lovebirds, we’re just messing with you!” Vanitas said as he pat her head and sat down beside Ven. Xion then sat beside me, and I noticed something strange. She seemed to be out of it…like she was spaced out. I stared at her for a couple of seconds but then I looked away when I felt like she was going to look at me. As I looked out the window, I could see the reflection of Xion twiddling her thumbs as she looked at them, like if she was nervous or something! I began to worry, but then I quickly dismissed any negative thoughts. I wasn’t going to ask her what was wrong, so I decided to stay shut about it. When we arrived at school, we all got off from the bus and thanked Cid for saving our butts, and then we headed towards our respective classrooms. I walked Xion to her classroom, and we kissed each other goodbye, and then I headed towards my classroom. As I sat down and classes began, I couldn’t help but think what was wrong with Xion! I felt restless, so I decided to talk to Lea about this by writing on paper. I ripped a page from my notebook and started writing. “Okay…this should do.” I muttered to myself as I signaled at Lea to look at me. It took a few seconds for him to notice me, but when he did, I gave him the paper. “Xion…did something happen last night?” I asked to myself, and then, a few seconds later, Lea gave me the paper and I read his response. “Did something happen to her last night?” the response read, and I then wrote my answer and gave the paper back to Lea. Soon after, he returned the paper to me. “Let’s talk at lunchtime.” the message read, and I nodded at him and then crumbled up the paper and put it in my backpack. “Xion…I hope you’re doing okay…” I thought to myself as I sighed. Then, after all the morning classes passed and lunchtime came, Lea and I ate before our friends showed up, and then we quickly went to the back of the school. “So…what do you think’s wrong with Xion?” Lea asked as he crossed his arms. “I wish I knew! All I know is, that ever since we got on the bus this morning, I’ve noticed that Xion has been looking different. Maybe it’s just me, but I really feel that something’s wrong. I suspect something happened to her last night, but she doesn’t seem like she wants to talk about it. I wanted to ask her about it too, but well, I didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable, so I just brushed it off and didn’t do anything. Lea…I don’t know what to do! I don’t know if anything I’ll say to her will make things better or just make things get worse! Gah, why do relationships have to be such complicated jigsaw puzzles!? I wish I knew what she was thinking about! Lea…with everything that’s happened, I don’t really know what I can say to help. I know she appreciates the love and support I give her, but still, I don’t know what to do…” I said as I explained myself to Lea. He closed his eyes and sighed. “Well, Roxas, I don’t know what to tell you. All of this is one complicated mess, it seems.” Lea replied, and I nodded. “Yeah…I agree. I just hope that all this ends soon…I don’t want Xion to have to keep suffering!” I said to him, and he smiled and put his hand on my shoulder. “Hey, don’t worry. We’re all here for her, so if something happens and it’s too much for you to handle, we’ll all help you.” he said, and I felt comforted by his words. “Thanks, Lea.” I said to him, and he nodded. “That’s what friends are for, buddy.” he replied, and then we walked towards the courtyard and went to our friends. (Start Song Here) And so, for the majority of lunchtime, everything was peaceful, and we all had a great time together! I glanced at Xion now and then to see if she was doing okay, and she seemed to be okay enough…but still, I kept a close eye on her, just in case something happened. Suddenly, Tidus came to us and started talking about a movie he had seen last night, about giant monsters fighting against giant robots! I think he said the name of the movie was Pacific Rim, directed by a Guillermo Del Toro, I think his name was. The movie sounded interesting, and the way Tidus explained it made the movie seem even more interesting! He seemed really enthusiastic about it. Then, Vanitas started talking about a girl he was hitting on, and well, I rolled my eyes and laughed. He seemed like he was really into this girl he was flirting with, and he even looked a bit serious. I was half tempted to think that he was actually in love! Then, Ven talked about how he’d aced his tests and how he had made it to the top of his class, to which Vanitas teased him by calling him a bookworm. Then, they all shifted eyes towards me and Xion, and we both froze for a moment. “Sooo…what about you two? How’s your relatsionship going so far?” Vanitas asked in a teasing voice. I smiled and blushed. “Everything’s been going great, now that you ask! We couldn’t be happier!” I remarked, and Xion giggled and nodded. “That’s right! We’re as happy as can be!” she said as she held my hand and snuggled next to me. “We’re all really happy for you two!” Ven said with a smile, and then Vanitas chuckled evily. “I bet those two have already gotten busy, if you know what I mean…” Vanitas said as he winked at Lea, who couldn’t help but snicker at Vanitas’ comment. “What did you say!?” Xion exclaimed, and Vanitas quickly panicked. “N-no, it was nothing, really!” Vanitas said, but Xion had already kicked his crotch, and he was rolling on the floor in pain, and we all laughed. Overall, we were having a great time, and everything was really turning out okay. Xion seemed to be in higher spirits, and I felt more relieved. A few minutes later, the bell rang, signaling the time for going back to class. We all went to our respective classrooms, and I escorted Xion to hers. We kissed each other goodbye and she gave me a beautiful smile, and then I walked towards my classroom. I felt really happy that Xion was happy! Seeing her smile was enough to make my heart soar! For the rest of the day, I felt really upbeat, and I felt like nothing could ruin this perfect day! Seeing Xion so happy and carefree for the first time in a long while really did bring me a great sense of comfort. Even with everything that was happening, I was thankful to God for this little moment of respite. The hours seemed to fly by, because before I knew it, it was already time to get out of school! Everyone was at the bus stop, and I was the last one to show. I smiled at everyone as we headed into the bus, and I was the last one to go in. When I got in, I sat beside Xion. I looked at her and smiled, and she smiled back at me, and we held each other’s hands. (End Song Here) “Today was a good day, don’t you think so, Xion?” I asked her, and she smiled and nodded. “Yeah. It was a really good day indeed. Hehe, I had a great time!” she answered, and I felt relieved. “That’s good to hear. I’m glad you enjoyed yourself, Xion.” I said to her. Soon after, we arrived at our home, and Ven and Vanitas went on ahead, while Xion and I remained outside. “The sunset looks beautiful today, doesn’t it?” Xion asked me as she looked towards the horizon, and I smiled and hugged her from behind. “That’s right. I love sunsets like this.” I answered as I held her close. Suddenly, Xion fell silent. I then gently shook her. “Xion?” I asked, but she did not respond. I then began to panic. (Start Song Here) “Xion? Xion!” I exclaimed, as I shook her again and she didn’t react. “Oh God, Xion!” I shouted, and then Ven and Vanitas came quickly outside. “What is it, Roxas? What happened to her!?” they both asked in unison, and I shook my head in confusion. “I don’t know! It’s like she suddenly fell unconscious! Call an ambulance, quick!” I exclaimed. Vanitas then called the ambulance, and a few minutes later, the ambulance came and took Xion away. I went into the ambulance with her to accompany her to the hospital. I swear, this is something I didn’t expect to happen! Was this what was going to happen to Xion? The paramedics examined her and said that she was stable, but as I looked at her, she looked eerily ill…like if she had just died. I then bowed my head near her and clasped my hands together and began to pray. I didn’t know what else to do! All of this had happened so suddenly! Why? Why did this have to happen!? I silently prayed to God that Xion would pull through this, and I begged him to keep Xion alive. I couldn’t bear to lose her! I then held her hand tightly in mine, and I could feel how cold her hand felt. My heart pounded insanely fast against my chest, and I closed my eyes, trying to remain calm. In just a few short minutes, we arrived to the hospital, and Xion was quickly put through Emergency Care, and then they took her into a room and asked me to wait outside. I felt too restless! “Xion…please hang in there…” I whispered to myself, and then, just a few seconds later, Ven, Vanitas, Lea, Tidus, Kairi, Namine and Riku came, and I felt relieved to see them. “Roxas, what happened!?” Lea asked me as I sat down and clasped my hands together. “I don’t know…she just fainted all of a sudden…just like that…” I explained, and there was a momentary silence looming over the room. Namine then came and put her hand on my shoulder. “It’ll all be okay, Roxas. We’re all here for you and Xion.” she said reassuringly, and I looked at everyone and nodded. “Thanks everyone, I appreciate it.” I said, and then Tidus crossed his arms and tapped his foot. “I just hope that the doctor can tell us what’s wrong with her soon!” he said. Then, after about twenty minutes, Aerith came out, and she had a grim expression on her face. “Aerith…what’s wrong with Xion…? I asked, and then she sighed and pursed her lips before speaking. “I am very sorry to have to inform to you all that Xion is in a critical condition. The first few minutes we were analyzing her, she seemed to be stable, but suddenly, her readings became unstable, and she suffered some minor damages to her internal organs, and now she’s in critical condition. She’s not dying…but she is in a very fragile state now…and for some reason, she doesn’t seem to be waking up. We’ve tried our best to deduce what could possibly be the reason for her strange illness, but there isn’t any medical record that can help us decipher what she’s suffering from. One of my colleagues gave me the hypothesis that her internal organs might be deteriorating inside of her…eating her from the inside out. I’m truly sorry about this…but I swear on my honor as a Nurse that I’ll do all in my power to keep her alive! My colleagues and I shall make sure of it!” she vowed as she explained Xion’s condition. “Thank you, Aerith…” I said to her as I sat down and felt lifeless, and Aerith went back into the room to attend Xion. “Hey…I’m sorry for what happened.” Vanitas said as he put his hand on my shoulder. I remained speechless and numb. “We’ll all stick together, and we’ll help you and Xion through this! You can count on it!” Tidus exclaimed as he crossed his arms and nodded. “That’s right. We’ll be here for you every step of the way.”Riku remarked, and I smiled sadly as I felt tears roll down my face. “Guys…thank you so much…” I said as I sobbed, and I could feel everyone’s love and support giving me strength. “Xion…don’t die on us…please.” I thought to myself as I closed my eyes and prayed once more for her recovery. For the next few hours, we remained in the waiting room, time passing by slowly as we waited for any update on Xion’s condition. When it was getting late, the doctors moved Xion into a room on one of the upper floors, and I said that I’d stay the night with her, and so the others left and I remained alone with Xion in her room. The doctors said that since she’s in a critical state, it was wise to keep my eye on her, to determine if there was any change in her condition. So far, she seemed to be normal. I looked at her with sadness reflected in my face. She seemed so still and so lifeless…and when I touched her face, it was cold as ice…it was just so mind boggling! I then cursed under my breath, cursing myself for not having been able to see this coming sooner! About two hours later, Aerith came to run some diagnostics on Xion, and after a while, the results came in, and she said that Xion was fine, but recommended me to keep an eye on her condition. After she left, it was just me and Xion again. I remembered the other time she had gotten hospitalized…and thank God she recovered from that. With that in mind, I knew that if she recovered once, she’d be able to recover again! I just knew it! Xion had to come back! (End Song Here) ----------------------------- “Where am I?” “You are a dwindling light…” “What is this?” “A dream…?” Be prepared for Chapter Forty Four: “’Heart’ Part 4 Of 10: Teetering On the Edge Of Death.” Well everyone, that was the chapter, I hope that you all enjoyed it! The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted April 1, 2015 Evening everybody! I hope that you’re all having a splendid evening! So then, this is the final chapter of the month, so I hope that all of you enjoy! The chapter will be from Xion’s perspective! So then, without further ado, here’s the chapter! Chapter Forty Four: ‘Heart’ Part 4 Of 10: Teetering On The Edge Of Death (Start Song Here) “Where am I?” “What is this?” “A dream?” Those are the three questions that I asked myself, as I found myself in a pitch black darkness, floating endlessly, as if I was falling through an endless abyss. Strangely, I didn’t panick and I didn’t feel the need to struggle. No…this sensation actually felt soothing…was this how death felt like? I wondered to myself at the question, and I tried to piece together what had happened to me. The last thing I remembered was being with Roxas, watching the sunset. I remember that right then and there, I blacked out! Then I thought to myself…was this what my creator had been speaking of? Is this the way I was going to die? I then felt a tear run down my cheek, and I felt so cold and alone. I sighed and just kept falling through the empty darkness. I just couldn’t believe that this was the way it was going to end. It all happened so fast and so suddenly, I just didn’t know what else to do! What else was there to do? I had fought with all my might for my life, and Roxas and my friends had also fought hard for me…but in the end, the battle ended without a climax. I closed my eyes and prayed that I would wake up, hoping this was all just some twisted nightmare… “You are a dwindling light…” “What?” I asked, as I had suddenly heard a voice speak out to me. “You are lost, losing yourself…” “Losing…myself?” I asked, waiting for the mysterious voice to respond. The voice sounded female, and very familiar! “Have you lost all hope?” “I…don’t really know.” I answered, looking at my hands and thinking about the question the voice had asked me. “Will you give up? “I don’t want to…but I don’t know what to do!” I exclaimed, and then, all of a sudden, the voice stopped speaking to me. Then, a blinding light shined far in the distance, and it was as bright as the sun! “You’ve been through very much sorrow. I’ve seen everything that you’ve been through, and I know of all the suffering you’ve beared in your heart. You have been like a vessel, taking in and accepting everything that’s happened. In a sense, you’ve surrendered yourself to your fate without even knowing it. And even though you’ve had the support of all your loved ones, it still hasn’t been enough to give you peace of mind. You’re stil haunted by the man who did you wrong…the man who created you. His lingering will still remains in your subconscious, gnawing away at you with each passing day. And now you’re afraid and lost, clueless as to what you have to do next. You think that this is the end…but it very well may not be.” the mysterious voice said, and I was surprised and shocked by each of her words. “H-how do you know all this about me?” I asked, feeling slightly afraid. “That isn’t important right now…” the voice answered, and then I remained silent for a bit, before asking my next question. “So then, tell me, voice…what happens now?” I asked, hoping that the voice would give me some helpful answer. “You tell me. I’ve only come here to guide you to the right answer, but the answer in and of itself, is something you must figure out on your own.” the voice answered. “Great…” I thought to myself. How was I supposed to know what would happen next? The bright light continued to shine, and I looked at it and admired its glow. “Is that light…the one people see when they’re about to die?” I asked, but the voice remained silent. The impending silence that followed could only have meant that I was right. This bright light that was shining before me was indeed the light that people would see when they were dying! At that moment, I was at a loss. Was this supposed to be some kind of test? If I walked towards the light, would I die? If I retreated from the light, would I remain in this pitch black world? How did I know if this was just some fabrication of my mind? I clenched my fists and closed my eyes, trying to make my mind go blank, to try to think clearly. But the more I tried to think clearly, the more I found myself hesitant to do so. I then felt a cold shiver down my spine, as if death itself was behind me. I felt a mortal tinge of fear, but I didn’t let it show. I then breathed in and then breathed out, and I held my head high and refused to be sucked into despair. “I’m not going to die! I still have everything to live for!” I defiantly proclaimed. “You are a spirit of undying courage…a spirit I admire.” the voice said, and I nodded and smiled. “I’m not going to let this darkness be the end of me! I don’t care how long it takes, I will make it out of here!” I said. “A very courageous answer, to be sure. You’ve truly matured, haven’t you?” the voice asked, and I nodded in agreement. “Yes…the experiences I’ve had with everyone have helped me mature and become the person I am today. A fighter!” I remarked. “A fighter who refuses to give up in the face of death itself. That has a nice ring to it…a very nice ring to it indeed.” the voice agreed. That’s right! I wasn’t going to let this darkness take over me and drag me into eternal despair! I was going to fight my way out of it! Granted, I didn’t even know how I’d be able to get out of this, but I’d find a way, somehow, someway! There just had to be a way out of this! The voice fell silent again, but the bright light continued to shine ever bright. The light at least gave me comfort, in the fact that at least I wasn’t in a pitch black darkness anymore. As I remained there, lost in thought, I thought of Roxas, and his loving smile and pleasant warmth. I then thought of all my friends, who were always there for me. Then, the flood of memories I shared with them started to play in my mind like a movie. Every moment was priceless, unique, and heartwarming. Every moment had its spark, and every moment had its meaning. I smiled as I closed my eyes and felt embraced by all the loving memories I had created with the people I loved. From the first time I met Roxas…to the time when I became friends with Ven and Vanitas…to the time when our friend circle grew ever more. Lea, Tidus, Namine, Kairi, Riku…all of them were right here, inside my heart! “Friends…friends in my heart. All the memories I’ve had with all of them…rest within my heart.” I whispered to myself as I smiled, and I felt at peace. “Now…what to do?” I asked myself, as I wondered how I’d be able to get out of this place. Suddenly, the bright light shone even more. “You feel warmth in your heart. That’s good.” the voice said, and I nodded. “Yes. It’s the warmth that my friends give me, the warmth of the memories we’ve shared!” I said to the voice. “Yes…that’s a very positive thing of you to say.” the voice said, and I then reached out towards the bright light and then closed my hand, as if I had snabbed the light, and then I lowered my hand and smiled. “My friends…they are my power!” I said, and then, suddenly, I was blinded by the bright light, and then I came upon an enveloping scene. (End Song Here) (Start Song Here) My vision seemed to blur, and in a moment, I saw a slight distortion, and when I rubbed my eyes to clear my vision, I saw Roxas sitting next to me, holding my hand and kissing it. I smiled and felt my heart pound against my chest. Oh God, I wanted to wake up and kiss him so badly, but sadly, all I could do was watch. I then saw Aerith come in, and she told Roxas to step outside for a few moments while she ran diagnostics on me. Then, two more doctors came in, and they put some strange machinery on me, like some sort of scanner, and with that, Aerith was gathering information on my condition. I seemed to be stable enough, for her expression was one of relief. After a few, long minutes, Roxas was allowed to come inside again. He thanked Aerith and then he sat down beside me again, and I noticed that his hair was all messed up, and he had bags under his eyes. It looked like he hadn’t slept at all last night. And yet, with his tired appearance, he smiled at me and touched my face, and I could feel his warmth. Roxas…I wanted to be able to speak with him, I wanted to be able to hug him again! Then, I saw him stand up and kiss me on the forehead, and he held my head to his chest. “Xion…I don’t know if you can hear me, but…I have to talk to you.” he said, and my eyes widened. “I can hear you, Roxas!” I shouted, but then I realized my shouting was futile. He couldn’t possibly hear me. “I don’t know what to do, Xion. I don’t know how to fix this. How can I fix this?” he asked as he started to tear up. “Roxas…” I whispered to myself as I saw him cry. “I’m so useless! I haven’t been able to help you at all! I should’ve been able to do something, that way, you wouldn’t be in this mess!” he said while sobbing, and I pursed my lips and held my tears. “Roxas…don’t.” I said to myself. “Xion…we met for a reason. I know that we were destined to meet each other, of that much I’m sure. But…I don’t even know how I’m supposed to help you! I feel so small and helpless when I can’t do anything for you! Right now, you’re here, and I don’t even know if you’ll wake up from this! This is the last line we’ve crossed…this is the final plunge we’ve taken…the end of it all. But trust me when I say that I’m not going to give up on you…no matter how long it takes for you to recover, I won’t give up on you! You hear me!? I’m going to stay by your side, no matter how much time passes! I’ll do it all for you! I’ll never leave your side! Xion…I love you…and I’ll always love you, until the end of my days…believe that.” he said in tears as he kissed my lips over and over. I felt the warmth of his lips all over me, and I was going insane. “Roxas, I love you too! I love you so much! You don’t know how much I love you!” I yelled out with all my might, crying nonstop. Then I saw Roxas laying his head on my lap. “Xion…I’m going to sleep for a bit…if you don’t mind…” he said, as he drifted off into slumber, and I smiled. “Of course I don’t mind. You deserve the rest, Roxas…” I said, and I wiped off my tears. Even though I couldn’t move or open my eyes, I was able to see him somehow. “Your love for him truly knows no limits.” the voice said. I then turned around to face the voice. “That’s right. Our love is strong, and our love will always find a way!” I proclaimed with confidence in my heart. (End Song Here) “You-“ the voice started to say, but then the bright light suddenly vanished, and now, a sickening laugh could be heard, and I knew who this was…. “Fighting for your life, are you now?” the new voice asked, turning out to be none other than my creator! “You!” I exclaimed, as he took physical form and laughed at me. (Start Song Here) “Yes, me! You know, I am truly surprised at you. I never thought that you’d take this long to perish! You should have been history a long time ago, but you continue to impress me every single time! Your refusal to die is truly outstanding! The other twenty failed attempts never resisted the way you are doing now! They would just surrender to their fate. But you…you truly are something else. My finest work, indeed. But, it is only a matter of time before you die. Your body has already started to decay from the inside…and before you know it, you will be nothing more than an empty shell. Even though you continually resist, you are just prolonging the inevitable. Surrender to your fate, girl! Stop resisting and give in!” my creator said as he mocked me. I clenched my fists and defiantly held my ground against him. “I’m not going to give up!” I shouted at him. “Oh ho, being the defiant little one, aren’t you?” he asked. “Oh, more than just defiant! I’m going to make sure you never haunt me or Roxas again!” I exclaimed, and at that, my creator laughed. “Ha, you truly think you can get rid of me!? I am a part of you, girl! No matter how much you may try to deny it, I am your creator, and as such, I shall always be with you!” he said with a smirk. “You don’t own me! I’m not your puppet, I’m not your toy, I am me, and no one else!” I said as my heart pounded against my chest. “Foolish girl…” he said. “Oh, you’re the one who’s foolish! In fact, you’re a sad, pathetic little man who was never worth anything! You thought that you’d be able to attain the formula for creating life, didn’t you? You thought that you could simply toy with the lives of people just for the fun of it? You truly thought you could get away with all this? You truly are a sad case if you ever thought one of those things! Lives aren’t meant to be toyed with! Each person, each living being has a heart, a soul, a living essence of wanting to survive! Each and every single living being in this Earth has the willpower to keep on living, fighting to live one more day! All of those lives are precious, and they’re worth living! But you…you tortured all twenty of your experimental subjects…you deprived them of experiencing life! You deprived them of everything and stole any sense of identity that they might have had! You took everything from them! Everything! But, this all came back full circle when Claire shot you! It’s a good thing too, because finally, you wouldn’t be able to make anyone suffer anymore! All that’s left now is for me to sever my ties with you.” I said to him with full fledged bravery in my heart. “Ha ha ha, now this is just priceless! You truly are my greatest masterpiece! You have fully developed a human identity!” my creator said gleefully. “Yes, that’s right! I developed it on my own, through the expericnes I went through! I learned how to be human thanks to Roxas and my friends!” I proclaimed. “Ah, yes, that boy and those hooligans. Truly outstanding! What magnificence!” my creator said as he clapped his hands. I simply laughed and shook my head. “You still don’t get it, do you? You still think that you’re in control, that this is your game to play? Well, listen to this…this is my heart!” I said defiantly. “Hmph, well aren’t you being the feisty one?” my creator asked as his smile turned into a grim face. “What, you can’t handle it?” I asked as I smirked. “Don’t get cocky, girl. You belong to me!” he shouted. “No! I am my own master! My own boss! I’m the one who charts out my life, not you!” I shouted, and then I saw my creator fall aback. “You insignificant little wretch! Still, at this stage in your decomposition, you refuse to surrender to your fate!? You truly are a worthless worm! Hmph, no matter. Even though you can try all you might to keep on fighting, it is all but a matter of time now. Soon, you will cease to be! I will admit, you have been very hard to put down, and as much as I have tried to drag you into sorrow and despair, you have been successfully able to repel me all this time. You truly have grown strong, and I have to at least acknowledge that! You have exceeded my expectations by inconceivable levels! But, as impressive as you are, sooner or later, you will fall. And I will be here, waiting to pick up the pieces as I drag you down into the depths of darkness alongside me! You will never escape from this fate, because you are a wretch! Hmph, I suggest that you cherish your precious last moments, blissfully reliving the memories you created with those imbeciles! Perhaps those memories will be enough to put you to rest!” my creator proclaimed, as he slowly vanished, until I was left alone again in my own subconscious. I clenched my fists and gritted my teeth and then took a deep breath. (End Song Here) “I won’t let you win…” I said to myself, as I felt my heart pound intensely. “You have an undying spirit. You truly are very brave.” the voice suddenly said, and I blushed and smiled. “I’m only brave because of the people who’ve helped me become brave. I am what they helped me to be!” I said, as I put my hand on my chest and felt my heartbeat. “Those are the words of a living being. You are getting closer now…” the voice said, and then I tilted my head in curiosity. “Closer? Closer to what?” I asked. “You will find out soon enough.” the voice said, and then it fell silent again. “Wait, don’t go! Keep talking to me!” I shouted, but as I waited for the voice to respond, nothing happened. I then closed my eyes, and I let the darkness take me afloat. There wasn’t anything else to do really, so I decided that I’d lose myself in the memories of Roxas and my friends. I smiled and felt a constant warmth in my heart as the memories flooded in my mind. I knew that things would turn out okay, and even if I were to die, then at least I’d die without any regrets. I had a wonderful and amazing time with Roxas and everyone, and I couldn’t have asked for better people to have given me the joy of living! So even if I was going to die, I’d accept it peacefully. But also, as long as I knew that there’d be a chance for me to keep on living, I’d take that chance, and I’d hold life tight and not let go! It was all a matter of time. I had faith that everything would turn out okay. I knew in my heart that the solution was close at hand. And so, until then, I’d keep on fighting! ------------------------------------ “She seems to be struggling on the inside…” “I wonder what she’s thinking?” “Xion…” “She truly is a fighter…” Stay tuned for Chapter Forty Five: “’Heart’ Part 5 Of 10: The Hearts That Connect.” Well then everyone, that was the chapter! The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted April 7, 2015 Good evening there everyone, I hope that you’re all doing okay, and that you all enjoyed your Spring Break vacation! Wow, can you believe that we’re already on April? Good lord, this year really has gone by fast! So then, this is the first chapter of the month, and it’ll be from Roxas’ perspective! I hope you all enjoy! Chapter Forty Five: ‘Heart’ Part 5 Of 10: The Hearts That Connect (Start Song Here) It’s been three days now since Xion has been hospitalized here. The days have gone by slowly, and seeing Xion remain in this state made the days seem longer still. Ven, Vanitas and the others had come to see Xion during all this time, and they even volunteered to stay the night, but I told them that I would be the one to stay here. I didn’t want to be apart from her, so I decided that I’d stay in this hospital until she recovers! Knowning that I couldn’t be convinced otherwise, my brothers brought me a few clothes and some food so I could be able to live through the day with the basic necessities. Aerith would also come in every now and then to see how I was doing, and I appreciated her for that. All this time, I stayed by Xion’s side, for I knew that she’d be able to make it out of this okay! I prayed every night to God, praying that she’d be able to be saved, that she’d be able to recover from this! As I sat beside Xion, holding her hand, I spaced out for a moment, thinking of the wonderful moments Xion and I have had during our time together. Then, I heard a sudden knock on the door, and I snapped out of myself. “Yes, come in!” I said, and then the door opened. It was Aerith. “Hello Roxas, good morning. How are you doing today?” she asked me, and I smiled at her and stood up. “Well, I’ve been doing okay, I was able to get some sleep last night, and well, I woke up about thirty minutes ago.” I answered. “Ah, I see, well that’s good! I’ll have the doctors bring you breakfast soon!” she replied, and I nodded and bowed in appreciation. “Thanks, Aerith. So…anything to report on Xion’s condition?” I asked, and she looked at me and held my gaze for a few seconds before turning her attention to Xion. “Well, she’s still unstable, and we really don’t know what to make of her condition. Her body is slowly deteriorating, but when we scan her internal organs, she looks just fine. It’s very strange, now that I think about it. And during the times I run diagnostics with the other doctors, I noticed that she seems to be struggling on the inside…as if she’s having some kind of psychological, personal battle with herself. She’s refusing to die, and she’s giving it her all to stay alive! She truly is an admirable young woman…we’re hoping her condition stabilizes within the next twenty four hours, God willing that there aren’t any incidents during that timespan. All I can tell you now is that for the moment, she’s not dying. Remember to keep a close eye on her just in case something happens to her.” she explained, and I nodded while looking at Xion. “Thanks, Aerith, thank you for everything.” I said to her as I bowed in appreciation again. “Of course. It’s our duty here to tend to the ill and weary! Roxas…she truly is a fighter.” she said, and I smiled and felt my heart tighten. “Yeah…she is.” I said, as I tried to hold in my tears. Now was not the time to shed tears. Now was the time to have courage! “Well then, I’ll be leaving for now. Your breakfast should come here soon enough. I’ll check on Xion later.” she said. “Alright. Thanks again!” I replied as she closed the door behind me and left. Now, it was just me and Xion again. After everything Aerith told me, I at least felt a bit more relieved. Knowing that Xion was hanging in there really gave me peace of mind. And so, I walked towards the window, and I gently moved the curtains, bathing myself in the sun’s rays. The sun was still rising, and people could be seen walking the streets. Cars passed by here and there, and there seemed to be a gust of wind passing by, for the trees were swaying to the left. I soaked up the rays of the sun and I sighed and looked down at my hands. They looked stiff, no doubt from the cold air conditioner of the room. Then I realized that I hadn’t gone outside the whole time I was here with Xion! But that didn’t matter, because what mattered was the fact that I needed to be here for Xion, to see her wake up! I need to be here when that happens! Just then, I heard a knock on the door. (End Song Here) “Yes, come in!” I replied, and when the door opened, it was Lea. He smiled at me and came in and gave me a hug, and I returned the embrace. “You doing okay, buddy?” he asked, and I sighed and nodded. “Yeah, I’m okay. Aerith came just moments ago to tell me that Xion is okay for the moment, but that she seems to be struggling within herself…and well, I just have to keep a close eye on her.” I explained, and then he nodded and crossed his arms. “Ah, I see. Well, I’m sure Xion will pull through this soon. Just keep your head and chin up, and stay strong.” he remarked, and I smiled. “That’s exactly what I’ll do. I have to be here when Xion recovers! I’ll stay by her side until then!” I said, and then he put his hand on my shoulder. “That’s good. Anyways Roxas, why don’t you go outside and get some fresh air for a bit? I’ll stay here with Xion. Your hands are freezing!” he said as he looked at my hands. “Okay…will do. Thanks, Lea.” I said, and with that, I went out of the room and outside the hospital. When I got out, I felt a sudden warmth channel through me. The warmth of the natural climate. Even though it had only been three days that I had been in the hospital, the outside air felt so foreign to me! I took in a deep breath and then clasped my hands together as they flinched slightly from the heat. I looked up to the sky and noticed how beautiful it looked today. There were barely any clouds in sight, and the giant expanse of light blue spread throughout the whole sky! A small gust of wind picked up, and I found it refreshing, and then I noticed a few cherry blossom petals head toward me. I caught two of them, and then I looked at them. They looked so colorful and felt so soft! I smiled and felt warmth in my heart. My faith was as calm as the wind…and I knew that Xion would recover from this. I just knew she would! After about thirty minutes, I decided to head back inside, and so I did. As I arrived to the room, I saw Lea standing where I had been standing, near the window. When I closed the door, he looked at me and gave me a friendly smile. He walked towards me and patted my back and put his arm around my shoulder. “So, you feel better?” he asked, and I laughed and smiled. “Yeah, as a matter of fact, I do!” I answered, and he nodded while continuing to smile. “That’s good.” he replied, and then I looked at Xion. “Nothing to report?” I asked him, and he shook his head. “Nope. Everything’s okay. And Aerith hasn’t come yet either, so you haven’t missed anything.” he answered, and then I sat down near Xion and held her hand. “I see. Thanks, Lea.” I said as I stared at Xion’s face. (Start Song Here) “I wonder what she’s thinking?” I asked aloud, and then Lea chuckled softly and pulled up a chair from the other side of the room and then he sat down. “Well, I’m sure that a lot of things must be going through her mind now. Even though she’s not conscious, she can still feel what’s happening inside of her. Based on what she told all of us recently, I imagine it hasn’t been easy for her to cope with the fact that she isn’t human. That, and the condition she’s suffering from, well, it’s enough to give a person a lot to think. But don’t worry Roxas, I know that Xion will make it through this. She’s shown that she’s a capable and strong fighter, and she’s surpassed her obstacles with her will to live, and with the support you’ve given her. Right now, Xion must probably be fighting the most difficult battle of her life, and this time, this is something that none of us can help her with. We can only hope that she’ll be strong enough to defy her inner obstacles and come out of this in one piece. Roxas, all you have to do is just stay by her side, and stay strong for her. You’re one of my most cherished best friends, and I know that you’re just as strong a fighter as her, so I know you’ll make it through this, too.” he explained, and I looked at Xion and then looked at him and felt a strong surge of courage swell up inside me. “Thanks Lea…I needed to hear that.” I said to him, and he shrugged while smiling. “Hey, that’s what friends are for, right? You know that I have your back, and I have Xion’s back too.” he replied, and I nodded and placed my hand on my chest. “The bond all of us share…you, me, Xion, Ven, Vanitas, and everyone…we are the hearts that connect with each other.” I said to him. “That’s right. As long as we always take care of those connections, they’ll always last.” Lea remarked. “Yeah…as long as we take care of our connections, we’ll be okay.” I repeated, agreeing with him. “And just so you know, no matter what happens to you guys, no matter where you go, I’ll always be there to bring you guys back!” he said, and I chuckled a bit. “Haha, that sounds poetic!” I snickered at him. “Hey, I’m serious!” he exclaimed, and then we both laughed. (End Song Here) For the rest of the morning, Lea remained in the hospital with me, and we continued to talk to each other, and then I turned on the TV and we watched some Disney movies that were airing on ABC Family. Then, about an hour later, Tidus, Kairi and Namine came along and they stayed with us for a while, and I appreciated their company. Being surrouned by my friends really gave me a sense of comfort, and knowing they were here for me and Xion really gave me peace of mind. Tidus made us all laugh with his jokes and funny stories, as usual, and Kairi and Namine left some flowers for Xion. After a while, they all left, and then Ven and Vanitas came, and by that time, it was already night, and Aerith still hadn’t shown up. I didn’t worry too much though, since Xion didn’t show any signs of getting worse. Ven brought me dinner, and I started to eat. “Oh, so Tidus, Kairi and Namine were here earlier?” Ven asked, and Lea nodded. “Yep. They left about twenty minutes ago, actually.” Lea answered, and then Vanitas groaned. “Aw, that’s too bad, I wanted to see Kairi again!” Vanitas exclaimed, and then Ven slapped him on the back of the head. “Hey! What was that for!?” he growled at Ven. “You goof, Kairi’s dating Sora! So that’s a no go for you!” Ven answered, and Vanitas shrugged. “Oh well, a guy can dream, eh?” Vanitas remarked as he laughed and shook his head. “So anyways, Roxas, since you hadn’t said anything to the professors at school regarding your absence, Vanitas and I covered you. We told them about Xion’s situation, and they now know why you haven’t been coming all these days. So thanks to us, you’re off the hook, but you’re going to have to catch up on all the class material on your own. We can only do so much! So yeah, I wanted to give you that good news, oh, and Claire wanted me to tell you that she wasn’t able to find anything regarding Even’s files. Nothing about the ‘Heart’ was found. And well, as for Xion, I hope that she recovers soon, because seeing her like this really makes me feel quite uneasy. Has Aerith come to update you on anything regarding her condition?” Ven asked as he looked at Xion and then looked at me. I swallowed the mouthful of food I had in my mouth and then put my fork down. “No…not since this morning. But, nothing’s happened, so I’m sure Xion will be okay. And thanks for everything. Both of you.” I answered. “No problems, bro, that’s what we’re here for!” Vanitas proclaimed while putting his arms on his hips. “Man, I’m stuffed. I don’t think I can eat another bite!” I said as I ate one more mouthful of food before rubbing my stomach. “That’s alright. I did serve you a bit too much! But I’m glad you ate most of it!” Ven replied, as he put the leftovers in a small grocery market bag he had with him. “You sure you aren’t going to go home, at least for tonight?” Vanitas asked, and I shook my head. “No, I can’t. I already promised myself and Xion that I’d stay here…I can’t go back home. Not now.” I answered, and then, a knock on the door was heard. “Yeah, come in!” I said, and when the door opened, it was Aerith, who had come back! (Start Song Here) “Oh, good, all of you are here! I wanted to tell you all about something interesting that my fellow colleagues and I discovered! While analyzing Xion’s data, we came upon this strange pattern in her blood stream. It seems as though there’s something more inside her veins than just blood! Concerned about this being a potential virus, my colleagues and I quickly started to analyze just what this strange thing was. As we kept referencing the periodic table of elements and our research archives for any other known cases regarding this strange essence in the bloodstream, we weren’t able to find anything. That’s when we came to the conclusion that this was probably a new element that was dormant inside Xion’s body! We thought about extracting said element from her, but there was the potential possibility of it doing more harm than good for her. And so, my colleagues and I have come to the conclusion that this strange element that is running through Xion’s body is part of her bloodstream. Part of what’s keeping her alive! And it seems that the more she runs out of this substance, the more she weakens…” Aerith explained, and then we all remained silent for a few moments. “I see…thanks for the information Aerith. So…what happens next?” I asked. “Well, in about two hours, my colleagues and I are going to run some diagnostics on her to see if her condition has improved.” she answered. “Okay then. Again, thanks for the update, Aerith.” I said as I bowed my head appreciatively. “You’re quite welcome!” she replied as she smiled tenderly, and with that, she left the room. (End Song Here) “Good God, she can check on my condition anytime!” Vanitas remarked all of a sudden, and Ven slapped him harder on the back of the head. “Hey, show some respect!” Ven growled at him. “Geez, I was just kidding! God!” Vanitas exclaimed as he rubbed the back of his head. “Well guys, it’s time I get going. Good night Roxas, and good night to all of you. I hope Xion recovers soon!” Lea said. “Alright. Thanks for coming by!” I said as I waved goodbye at him and then he left. Then, Vanitas sat down where Lea had been, and he glanced at Ven before looking at me. “Listen Roxas, while you’ve been here looking after Xion, Ven and I and our friends have been doing a bit more digging around Even’s lab, looking through his research notes to see if anything on the ‘Heart’ was written. Sadly, we weren’t able to find anything concrete, but, we did find something that seemed to be a sort of clue regarding it. From what we read, the ‘Heart’ is apparently connected to something concerning the soul, but when we tried looking deeper into the research notes, we found nothing else. It’s like if a part of the description was missing…very strange indeed. Anyways, long story short, we’ve all been working hard to find out about the ‘Heart’ while you’ve been here, so don’t stress, because we’ve got your back! Just keep your wits about you and don’t forget to get your sleep, and don’t miss your breakfast and dinner, and you’ll be okay. Just don’t worry about anything else, you hear me?” he asked as he finished explaining everything to me. I smiled and nodded, and I closed my eyes and gave out a calm sigh. My brothers really always did pull through for me. I was blessed to have them as my brothers. “Thanks, guys. You’re the best!” I said, and Vanitas chuckled. “Well, I do try.” he said with a cocky gesture, and Ven rolled his eyes and scoffed. “Ha, try being your best around Aerith, and see where that gets you!” Ven teased, and Vanitas laughed even more. “Oh, trust me, I do that, and I’ll have that darling beauty falling for me in no time!” he said with a goofy smile. “Haha, you guys are such dorks!” I remarked, and they both glared at me. “Hey, what’s that supposed to mean!?” they both growled in unison, and then we all laughed. Ven and Vanitas stayed with me for a while. We kept talking, and then I turned on the TV, and we watched an episode of this TV show called Marve’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D, and it looked pretty interesting! A secret organization, super powered human beings, lots of different stuff. It was pretty cool! The character I liked the most was Agent Coulson. He was witty and funny! After about two hours, Aerith came in along with the other doctors, and they told us to go outside for a few minutes, and so we did. As we waited outside, I prayed to God that Xion would be okay. Nothing had happened to her during the day, so I’m sure her condition hadn’t worsened or anything! After approximately forty minutes, the doctors came out of the room, and Aerith signaled us to come in. When we came in, we each sat down, and she looked at all of us one by one. “Well, I’m happy to report that Xion is doing okay for the moment!” she said, and I sighed of relief. “Oh God, that’s good to hear. So, what about the substance in her bloodstream?” I asked. “Well, it seems that she’s somehow been able to stop it from seeping out, so that seems to be a good sign.” she explained. “And do you think she’ll wake up anytime soon?” Ven asked, and at that, Aerith stood silent for a moment. “All we an hope for is that she’ll wake up soon, but I can’t really say when that time will come…” she answered. “Well, the important thing is that Xion’s doing okay! Thanks again, Aerith!” I said to her, and she smiled and bowed. “You’re welcome. Now then, I shall be leaving now. Good night to all you.” she said as she left. I felt instantly relieved. Xion was doing okay for the moment, which meant I could rest easy! Even now, in her condition, Xion was still fighting, she wasn’t going to give up that easily! I smiled and kissed her forehead and held her hand. After about ten minutes, Ven and Vanitas left, and when I looked at the clock, it was 11:50pm. Just ten minutes until midnight. I held Xion’s hand in mine. She wasn’t as cold as she was before! In fact, she was slightly warmer! I took that as a good sign, and I smiled and looked at her, feeling happy, knowing she was doing okay! And as I saw her beautiful sleeping face, I blushed and scratched my head. She looked so cute when she was asleep! Nine minutes later, just as I had turned off the light in the room and had turned on the TV, something amazing and unexpected happened! Xion’s hand! It twitched! She was moving! ------------------------- “This isn’t a dream, is it?” “I have to end this once and for all!” “What? Impossible!” “Of all the inhumane things…” Be prepared for Chapter Forty Six: “’Heart’ Part 6 Of 10: Reconstruction.” Well everyone, that was the chapter! I hope you all found it to your enjoyment! The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted April 10, 2015 Hey there everyone, thanks for the comments, and good evening! I hope you’re all doing okay! So then, here’s another chapter of the story! This time, it’ll be from Xion’s perspective! I hope you all enjoy! Chapter Forty Six: ‘Heart’ Part 6 Of 10: Reconstruction (Start Song Here) “She’s waking up!” “She’s really waking up!” “Oh, this is great news! I must alert the doctors at once!” Those are the words I heard the muffled voices say. I felt like I was being pulled out of a dark cave, and into the blinding light. As I approached the light, my vision became instantly blurry, as if I had truly been blinded by the light! In a matter of seconds, the muffled voices sounded much clearer, and I was now able to feel my body move again! This was it! I was finally awakening! Knowing this fact, I kept struggling to open my eyes, fighting with all my might to at least sit up! Then, my eyes finally opened, and I saw a teary eyed Roxas beside me, and he quickly grabbed me and kissed me on the lips, passionately. I smiled and blushed as I kissed him back with equal passion. And I felt a tad bit embarrassed. My lips were a bit dry! But, that didn’t matter, since I was awake now, and Roxas was by my side. At first, I couldn’t speak, but I don’t know if it was either out of the shock of waking up or if it was the kiss from Roxas, but I found myself speechless for a few moments. Then, I rubbed my eyes and looked at him, and he smiled at me as he held my hands, and I smiled back, and then I looked around and felt a cold shiver all of a sudden. “How…long have I been out?” were the first words I uttered. “Three whole days.” he answered, and I opened my eyes wide. “Three days?” I asked again in shock. I would never have guessed that I had been in this state for three days! I then blushed and looked at him. “You…you stayed with me all this time?” I asked, and he blushed and nodded. “Yeah. I couldn’t just leave you! And well, even though our friends volunteered to stay, I said that I’d stay with you until you recovered. And well, now you have!” he explained, and I felt touched as I heard his words. “R-Roxas…I don’t know what to say…” I remarked as I blushed even redder. Just as Roxas was about to say something, I saw Aerith come in with two doctors, and she smiled. “It’s good to see that you’ve woken up, Xion! If you don’t mind, my colleagues and I will run some diagnostics on you.” she explained, and I nodded, assuring it was okay. (End Song Here) And so, after Roxas headed outside, Aerith and the doctors started running their diagnostics on me. They made some visual tests to see if my vision was okay, and then they told me to walk around the room, to see if my body was okay. Then, my blood was extracted for the doctors to analyze, and then Aerith explained to me about something she and her colleagues had found in my blood. As I listened to her explanation, I became intrigued. A sort of substance that helped keep me alive…and apparently, during the time I was unconscious, that substance seemed to be seeping out of me. After she finished her explanation, she then told me that I’d be able to get out of the hospital by noon, and soon after she and the doctors left, Roxas came in and sat down beside me. He noticed my spaced out expression. “What is it, Xion?” he asked me, and I glanced at him and then looked at my hands. (Start Song Here) “Aerith told me about what she found in my blood. My creator must have been responsible for this…” I uttered as I clenched my fists and felt anger boil inside me. “Even…he’s a despicable man, even in death…” Roxas replied, and I looked at him and then felt another sudden shiver. “He was in my dreams, Roxas…” I said to him. “That bastard? Damn it! Why does he have to keep tormenting us!?” he exclaimed, and then I looked at my hands again. “It’s because of me…” I proclaimed. “Huh? What do you mean?” Roxas asked. “Like I said, Roxas, it’s because of me. As long as I live, my creator will always haunt me. The reason for that is because I’m his living legacy. The pinnacle of his work. And even though I was his crowning achievement, he’s hell bent on bringing me down and ensuring my death. All this time I was unconscious, he tried to get into my mind and break my will, but I didn’t let him. I wouldn’t have been able to forgive myself if I had let that bastard get the better of me! I’m sick of him making my life a living hell! It’s time to finish this once and for all! Roxas, after I get out of this hospital, I’m going to go to my creator’s lab…something in my dreams indicated that there’s more to that place than meets the eye. I’m going to see what’s in there, and I’m going to end this madness!” I said with full throttled determination. I could feel Roxas’ stare, and when I looked at him, I noticed he was determined too. (End Song Here) “I’m going with you!” he proclaimed, but I shook my head. “No, Roxas. I don’t want to drag you into my messes anymore! I have to do this on my own!” I said to him, trying to be loud and clear. “Look, we’re in this together, so there’s no way you’re going to make me back out from this! I’m going with you, whether you like it or not!” he said, and after staring at him for a few seconds, I laughed. “Hmph, there’s no talking you out of anything, is there?” I asked him. “Hehe, you should know me better than that by now, Xion.” he answered me with a smile, and then I pulled him in for a passionate kiss, and then I looked at him with determination. “Alright then, it’s settled. We’ll do this together!” I said. Then, as the afternoon came around, Aerith came to notify me that I was free to go, and at that, Roxas and I glanced at each other and prepared ourselves for what we’d have to do. I had taken a shower during the wait, so we were ready to leave now. And so, as we went out of the hospital, I flinched slightly at the outside weather. It had been three whole days since I hadn’t been outside, so everything seemed strange to me. But, after a few minutes, I grew used to the outside weather again, and then, Roxas and I headed towards my old house. Along the way, we came upon our friends, who had been notified by Aerith that I had woken up, and we talked to them, and then, when we were about to depart, they asked if they could tag along to where we were going. I shook my head and said that this was something that only Roxas and I could do. I didn’t want to drag any of our friends into this, they had already been through enough on my account! Our friends insisted for quite a bit, but Roxas and I were adamant on our decision. In the end, they gave up, but they said they’d keep an eye on my house in case things went out of hand. With that, Roxas and I ran towards my old home. “You know, I feel bad for leaving them behind!” Roxas said while running. “I know, I do too, but we can’t drag anyone else into this!” I proclaimed, and he nodded and kept running. “Let’s hope we find what we’re looking for!” he said, and I nodded. “Yeah, I hope so.” I agreed, and then, after a few minutes, we arrived to my old home. We stopped at the entrance and glanced at each other. “What do you think we’ll find in there?” Roxas asked. “I’m not sure…but I have a bad feeling about it…” I answered, as I felt yet another cold shiver run down my spine. And so, as we headed inside towards the lab, I could feel a sudden tinge of fear come over me. Like just entering the lab was the most terrifying thing ever…but even though I felt afraid, I couldn’t back down now. The answer to everything was in this lab, and there was something that my creator was hiding. I just couldn’t imagine what it could be. As I glanced at Roxas, we both nodded and started searching aroung the lab, seeing if there was anything suspicious in the area. For the first few minutes, we found nothing, just mountains of books piled up. But then, just as I had finished checking around the area where the desktop was, I saw something peculiar. It was some kind of statue. It looked like a shield with spikes, and it was standing on a pedestal. When I tried lifting the statue, I heard a sudden clank, and then I fell aback a few steps, and Roxas ran to my side. Just as he was about to say something, the bookshelf near the pedestal started to creak and move sideways, and when it stopped moving, we saw a staircase leading downwards. We glanced at each other quietly, and then Roxas took a few steps near the staircase. “A secret room…what could there be down there?” he asked, and I shook my head and looked at the staircase. “Something bad, I imagine…let’s go.” I answered, as I was the first to descend the staircase, Roxas following closely behind. “Even must have hidden something here…something so horrible he didn’t want anyone to see.” he hypothesized. “Or, that he didn’t want anyone to steal his research.” I said, giving my own hypothesis. “True, that could also be the case.” he agreed with me, and after a few seconds, we saw a purple light further down. “I think we’re almost there…” I said to him, and when we finally reached the bottom, we came upon the secret room. At first glance, it appeared to be a normal, spacious basement…but, knowing my creator, this was far from normal. The purple light was emanating from a few cracks that could be seen through a wall that was blocking the rest of the room. Roxas and I looked around to see if there was any switch that would make this wall move, but so far, we hadn’t found anything. Then, as I walked towards a desk, I saw some old folders piled up, and I flipped them over to see what they were about. They seemed to be research notes, but the words were almost completely faded out due to all the dust that had settled into this closed room, so I couldn’t make out what the files contents were. I glanced over at Roxas, who put his hands on the wall, to see if he could feel something out of place that could be the switch. Then, he pressed a button, and all of a sudden, the wall started to move slowly. “Well, looks like I found the switch!” Roxas said, and I walked toward his side, and when the wall moved completely, my eyes widened at the sight I was seeing. “No…” I whispered to myself as I looked at Roxas, who was just as shocked. “T-this can’t be! What the hell is this!? This isn’t a dream, is it?” he asked as he took a few steps back, and I could see him trembling. “Of all the inhumane things…” I uttered as I covered my mouth. “This…this is just insane!” Roxas exclaimed. (Start Song Here) The sight we were witnessing was a horrible, heinous thing. Naked bodies of children and teenagers were piled up. They were rotting corpses…it was a horrifying sight! At the center of all the corpses was a considerably big stasis tube, and there, to our horror, was my creator! But how could he be here, if he was dead!? But, at the same time, I knew this couldn’t be him, since only half of his body was in the tube. He had some tubes implanted in him, probably to sustain his body…it seemed as if he was slowly regenerating his body! We looked around and saw the faces of the dead corpses. Their faces seemed to have beared their final moments, for all of their eyes were wide opened, their mouths opened completely in horror. It was too much! I couldn’t take this anymore, so I threw up! Then, Roxas pointed to the stasis tube, where my creator opened his eyes and smirked. “Ah, so you’re both here…you two discovered my greatest secret…” he said with his sinister tone, and I clenched my fists in anger. “Just how the hell are you even alive!?” I demanded, and my creator simply laughed gleefully. “Hey, Xion asked you a question! Answer her!” Roxas exclaimed, and at that, my creator scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Ah, as always, you are quite the insolent brat! You haven’t changed a bit!” he replied, and my eyes blazened in anger. “Answer my question, damn it!” I exclaimed, and then my creator started to laugh again. “You are so eager for everything, girl! Haha, fine then, I shall answer your question. You see, I never truly did die. Even though you saw that stupid policewoman shoot me, I never did die. The reason for this is because I implanted my mind and soul into this stasis tube. Since I knew that someday I would be hunted down, I knew I had to take…precautionary measures. Just a day before I was supposedly killed, I entered the stasis tube and poured all my data into it, so that my consciousness could remain here, hidden from the world, so I could slowly recover! And so, slowly, I’ve been reconstructing my body using the corpses of all these little subjects of mine! I knew I had to take steps, so I murdered as many children and teenagers as I could, and I brought them down here, so they could serve the purpose of being my building tools toward my reconstruction. They’ve served their purpose admirably well! And when my body fully recovers, I shall continue with my experiments, and I shall unlock the secret to creating perfect life! I shall be the new God! I shall be the one who reigns supreme!” he explained, as Roxas and I continued to look on in horror. “That’s just nuts! Your madness knows no limits!” Roxas exclaimed, and my creator laughed. “Madness, you say? I call it pure genius!” he replied, and my eyes filled up with tears. “How can you be such a heinous monster…? How can you do all of this without the minimal shred of remorse?” I asked as I looked at the dead corpses once more. “That, my child, is as you said. I am a heinous monster. There is nothing more to it than that!” he remarked. “How could you…how could you!?” I exclaimed as my tears rolled down my face. Roxas held me tight as I continued to cry. “You’re a bastard Even, you know that!? You’re a monster that doesn’t know any bounds! How could you just toy with human lives like if they meant nothing? How is it that you have the stomach to do such vulgar, inhumane things!? Humankind isn’t your personal plaything for you to be experimenting on! Humankind is meant to live out their lives, to do the best they can to be themselves, not to descend into madness and do these unspeakably horrible things! You’re a despicable man…a despicable man that doesn’t know how to do anything, except make people suffer! I don’t know how the hell you can live with yourself after doing all of these things, but I know for certain that you don’t deserve to live! You deserve to rot and burn! You’re nothing but a disgrace, a demon in the guise of a human! You just don’t know when to die! You bastard…I’ll never forgive you for hurting Xion this way, and for killing all these innocent people! You’ll pay for this! I’m going to destroy you!” Roxas exclaimed angrily as he threw the nearby desk towards the stasis tube, hoping to break it. At that, my creator simply laughed with devilish glee. “Welll, aren’t you the noble hero!?” he asked while laughing. “Shut up! Just shut up!” Roxas screamed as he kept throwing the desk over and over at the stasis tube. “It is no use, boy. This stasis tube is highly resistant to any object, and as such, you cannot hope to break it!” my creator explained, and Roxas got angrier. “I’ll find a way to break it! I’ll end you!” he said with determination. “Foolish boy…you are so ignorant.” my creator remarked with a smirk. “You aren’t going to get away with this!” I declared, but my creator simply laughed. “Oh, that is where you would be wrong, my dear child. For you see, you are the vital component in making my reconstruction a success. As I’m no doubt sure, you know of the element sustaining you, the element that lies within your bloodstream. Well, that element is something I implanted in you when I was creating you. I knew that you’d be of some very important use to me, so I had to make sure that you would be the bearer of my success! That element in your bloodstream contains something vital…something that is the key to many unsolved mysteries! I, myself never found out exactly what this element was, but all I knew is that it would prove useful to me. True, it was partly a gamble, but now I am sure that this element shall indeed work its purpose!” he said, and I scoffed at him. “And just what makes you think that I’m going to cooperate with you?” I asked him defiantly, and he simply smirked. “That, my dear girl, is something you shall figure out very, very soon.” he answered, almost as if he was predicting that something would happen… “What do you mean by that!?” Roxas demanded, but my creator only glared at him. “Silence, boy, I owe no explanations to you!” he barked back, and then he turned his attention to me again. “This will only take a few moments…” he said, and then, all of a sudden, I felt an intense pain crawl inside my head, and I started to scream! “Xion! Xion, what’s wrong?” Roxas asked while shaking me. I looked at Roxas with horror, as the unbearable pain spread like wildfire all over my body! It’s like if every single bit of my skin was being ripped off from my body! I felt all my muscles twitching and aching, and my bones felt like they were breaking into a million pieces! My internal organs felt like they were exploding, and I couldn’t bear it! Then, I started to feel my blood flowing rapidly inside me, as if it was trying to find a way out of my veins! I looked toward my creator, and he simply smiled evily, as if this had been all a part of his master plan. I then moaned in pain as I felt a piercing pain on my spine, as if someone was cracking it! Roxas looked at me, helpless, clueless as to what to do. I couldn’t blame him…I didn’t even know what was happening to me! Then, I suddenly coughed up blood, and I saw something strange…no doubt the element hiding within my bloodstream. “Ah, yes, thank you, my child…” my creator said calmly. “What’s the meaning of this!?” Roxas exclaimed. I looked at him as I coughed up more blood, and my creator closed his eyes and chuckled to himself. “Everything is near completion…everything I had worked for, almost at its peak!” he continued to ramble on. Roxas then looked into my eyes, his eyes filled with tears. “Xion…please don’t tell me that you’re dying!” he said while sobbing. I held his hand tightly and shook my head. “I’m not going to die…not yet! There’s too much at stake now! We can’t let this madman out on the world, or else things will really get out of hand!” I said with determination, trying to resist my own pain. “I’m here with you, all the way!” Roxas said, and we both nodded in unison and then looked towards my creator. And, as if by some kind of magnetic force, my blood started moving forward, heading towards the stasis tube! Roxas and I tried to stop the blood from flowing, but as much as we tried to wipe the blood away, the blood somehow remained intact! What was this insanity? We kept struggling, and then, all of a sudden, I coughed up an enormous amount of blood, and then I fell sideways and gasped for breath. Roxas headed towards me and helped me get back to my feet. We then tried getting rid of the blood again, but to no avail! My creator constantly laughed, mocking our efforts, and he kept rambling about how he’d kill us as soon as his body was completely reconstructed! Roxas again attempted to break the stasis tube with the desk, but still, not even a crack was managed! Then, my blood suddenly disappeared into the stasis tube, and theh purple light turned into a crimson red! Then, the water inside the tube got so dark by the color of my blood that we could no longer see my creator! All we could hear was his shrill, heartless laugh. Roxas and I glanced at each other nervously, and then we heard some heavy clanks and some growls. “And now…the hounds of hell will be unleashed!” my creator triumphantly declared. What the hell was this!? (End Song Here) -------------------------------- “What the hell are these things!?” “Another of my creations, hybrids of humans and animals…” “They’re going to spread through town and kill everyone!” “Run for your lives!” Stay tuned for Chapter Forty Seven: “’Heart’ Part 7 Of 10: All Hell Breaks Loose.” Well then everyone, that was the chapter, I hope you all enjoyed it! The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted April 14, 2015 Good evening everyone, I hope all of you are doing okay today! So then, here I bring to you the next chapter! Sorry for the slight delay, I was busy this weekend, so I didn’t have time to write, but luckily, I was able to finish this chapter up! So then, this chapter will be from the perspectives of Claire and Xion, so I hope you all enjoy! Chapter Forty Seven: ‘Heart’ Part 7 Of 10: All Hell Breaks Loose Right now I was at the precint, checking through some documents and getting ready to go on patrol. I looked outside and noticed the sky was overcast. It felt weary and strange…almost as if something bad was going to happen. But, since I wasn’t one for superstitious stuff, I didn’t pay attention to anything that would seem spooky. I organized the documents in my desk, and then I stood up and put on my badge and uniform. Huh, you know, it felt really funny having my uniform on. It had been so long since I had put it on, since I had been undercover as a normal civilian. It felt somewhat uncomfortable wearing the uniform now. But, since duty called for it, I had to represent my authority. And so, I took a few steps outside, and I considered taking my umbrella with me, just in case it rained, but then I changed my mind and then headed towards my motorcycle. As I got on, I noticed that the town seemed to be strangely quite. There were people here and there, but something didn’t seem right. I really don’t know why I was being so paranoid today, all I knew is that it was irritating the hell out of me! And so, I turned on my motorcycle and started patrolling the town. “Calm yourself, Claire…it’s just patrol. You’ve never been paranoid, so don’t start now.” I said to myself as I breathed in and then breathed out. “Officer Claire, can you hear me? I repeat, can you hear me?” I heard one of my superiors talking through the communication device. “Yeah, hear you loud and clear!” I replied. “Officer Claire, you’re to head downtown immediately. According to one of our squad members, something’s happening over there!” my superior explained. “Right, on my way!” I complied as I ran my motorcycle full throttle. Good God, of all the days I had to be right, it had to be this one…something strange was happening! “Roxas…” I uttered to myself as his name suddenly came to mind. Did something happen to him? I prayed that I was wrong. (Start Song Here) As I headed downtown, I noticed civilians running in panic! They were scattering left and right, and there were dozens of crashed cars all over the street! Gunshots could be heard not too far away. Just what the hell was happening around here!? I stopped for a moment to analyze the situation. It didn’t seem like any crooks were around the vicinity, and then I noticed another person running away from the chaos that was just ahead. He had blood all over his shirt, and he looked terrified! I bit my lower lip in frustration and kept driving my motorcycle until I arrived into the heat of the conflict, and that’s when I noticed a few of my squad members pinned down behind their patrol car. I quickly loaded my gun and ran towards them. They all looked at me with relief, and then I tried looking over the patrol car to see what we were dealing with. “What’s the situation?” I asked to the officer right beside me. “Officer Claire, we’re dealing with some wacko monsters!” the officer blurted out nervously, and I raised my eyebrow questioningly. “Officer, this isn’t a joke! Tell me what we’re really dealing with!” I demanded, and he stuttered and shook his head. “But it isn’t a joke, I swear! Try looking above the patrol car, and you’ll get a good look at them!” he explained, and I did just that. When I peeked my head slightly, I noticed some strange, non human things wandering around, panicking the civilians and causing trouble. “What the hell are these things!?” I exclaimed, and the officer didn’t know what to say. I then sighed and stood up. “Alright boys, listen up! We’re going to split up and take those things down as quickly as possible! You two, stay behind this patrol car and cover us, and you, follow my lead!” I said towards the officer beside me. “Yes ma’am!” he replied. As we quickly darted from the patrol car to a nearby vending machine, I got a better look at those things. They seemed to be humans, but monstrous and vile and abominable. I then thought to myself about what Roxas had told me, about Even, who had done many experiments. Could this be a result of Even’s madness? I quickly shook my thoughts off, for there was no time for me to think about what these things were. All I knew is that they were endangering lives, and it was up to us to do something about it! I then raised my gun and aimed at one of the monsters and immediately shot it right on the head, and it instantly fell down. The others noticed and turned their heads to where we were, and that’s when I cursed under my breath. These bastards had a ridiculous good sense of hearing! I then signaled to the officer behind me to start our assault. “Now, now, now!” I yelled as we got out of our cover and started shooting as fast as we could. Two monsters fell instantly, while the others were a bit harder to put down. “These things are horrifying!” the officer behind me said. “Well, you don’t want to see them anymore, right? Then keep shooting them until every one of them is dead!” I barked back as I got out my other gun and shot two monsters that were heading for me from both sides. “These things sure are fast!” the officer said as he shot one that was hiding behind a car. “Don’t hesitate a shot for a moment, or else, you’re dead!” I said, and just when I was about to shoot, I realized I was out of ammo, but luckily, the other two policemen who were behind the patrol car covered us while I reloaded. “Eat this, bastard!” I yelled as I shot a monster right through its head. When the officer fired at the last monster, it fell down with a sickening thud, and then we both stood silent. Now the town seemed way too quiet. Then, one of the slain monsters bellowed out a sickening, ear-piercing scream, and we covered our ears because of how deafening that noise was! When we looked further down, we noticed a whole horde of those things were coming right at us! I then shot the stupid bastard that had called them, but by then, it was too late. Now, we had to deal wit all of these other monsters heading our way. A drop of sweat rolled down my eyebrow, and I clenched my fists and bit my lower lip. This was definitely a sticky situation…nothing we had ever been trained for, but nonetheless, it was something that we, as police, had to deal with. I wasn’t going to let innocents die on my watch! I then looked towards the officer and towards the two policemen that were behind the patrol car. I could see it in their faces…they were terrified. They were shaking. They didn’t want to be here. I then turned around and looked at each of them, and I crossed my arms and sighed to myself. “Look, I know that this is something way out of our hands…so if you want to go, then go. I won’t stop you.” I said, and the policemen stood silent for a moment. “N-No, we aren’t going anywhere!” the officer beside me said. “That’s right! This is our town, and it’s our duty to protect it, no matter what! If we don’t do something, they’re going to spread through town and kill everyone!” the two policemen exclaimed, and I smirked and shook my head. “You ladies really want to die today, don’t you? Hmph, well then, if that’s the case, then we fight to the finish!” I declared, as I turned around and saw the horde of monsters drawing ever closer. “Right!” they all said in unison. “Roxas…don’t die on me…” I whispered to myself as I drew a deep breath and reloaded my guns once more. OOOOOOOOOOO My creator was laughing…he was enjoying every single moment. He explained to Roxas and I about how his creations were going to spread across town and destroy everything, infecting whoever those vile things would kill. He said that this was something inevitable and that it couldn’t be stopped! I gritted my teeth and felt so helpless! The stasis tube where my creator remained was still covered in the crimson red glow, and we weren’t able to see him. I then felt my body grow weaker, and I could feel my life draining out of me. Roxas remained by my side and held me. His hands were bloodied by all the attempts to break the stasis tube. He kissed my forehead and cried silently, and I held him tight and cried as well. There was nothing we could do now. This was the way everything was going to end. So abruptly and so cruelly. It just wasn’t fair! At least I had the comforting thought of being held in Roxas’ arms before dying, so there was at least that. Roxas then looked into my eyes, and I could see the sadness he had. I knew what he was going to say. He was just having a hard time trying to say it, but I smiled and put my finger on his lips. “Don’t apologize…” I whispered to him, and he cried and kissed my finger and held me close. “But I wasn’t able to do anything to stop this…” he said to me while sobbing, and I shook my head and touched his face. “This wasn’t something anyone had the power to stop. This is something that is far beyond us. We couldn’t have possibly seen this coming.” I said to him, and he shook his head. “But still…there could have been another way to end all of this, so things wouldn’t have had to get to this point…” he replied. “Roxas, as I said, please don’t apologize.” I pleaded him. Then I heard my creator’s sickening laugh. “Ah, how touching…to think that in your final moments, this foolish boy still remains by your side. It truly amazes me how he has gone through all of this and he has not gone insane! He truly is a marvelous specimen! Once he’s dead, I shall have great joy in dissecting him and analyzing his psyche! Oh, it shall be a glorious and fruitful dissection indeed! And now, you two are witness to another of my creations…hybrids of humans and animals. This truly is a glorious day! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I would live to be able to see this through! Ah, and I cannot begin to thank you two enough for helping me achieve my goals! You two shall be sincerely rewarded, of that you have my word!” he said pleasingly, mocking us as we remained there, helpless, unable to do anything. Roxas looked at the stasis tube and clenched his fists. “You are probably wondering why I did not order my creatures to attack you, are you not? Well, the answer is simple! I want you to be witness to the dawn of a new world!” my creator said gleefully, and Roxas snapped. “You bastard, you aren’t going to get away with this!” he exclaimed. “Foolish boy, do you not realize that I already have gotten away with this?” my creator asked mockingly. “Roxas, don’t listen to him…he’s just trying to blind you with anger!” I called out to him, but Roxas wouldn’t listen. “I hate you Even, I hate you! I hate you for everything that you’ve done!” he angrily declared. “Ah, yes, yes, that is marvelous! Hate me with all your heart, boy!” my creator said, and then, we heard some strange, mechanical sounds from within the room. Suddenly, the room began to shift, as if it was giving way, and when Roxas stepped back and went back to my side, the room seemed to snap at the middle, and the stasis tube began to distance itself from us, and the ceiling above us began to break. Then, when Roxas and I looked down below, we saw that there was a giant lab that was housing all the creatures that my creator was unleashing out into the town! We remained shocked and speechless at what we saw, and we couldn’t believe it! Slowly, all the corpses that had been laying all around us started to fall down towards the creatures, and they began to eat the rotting corpses, and as they did, they started to take human form, but still distinguishable enough to recognize them as monsters. I couldn’t bear to look any more, so I dug my head into Roxas’ chest, who held me tight and didn’t let me go. My creator was insane! “Beautiful, is it not? Behold, my creations!” my creator declared proudly, and I stood up, weak as I was, and I clenched my fists. “You are nothing but a heartless man! You’re going to pay for this!” I yelled out. “Oh ho, pay? And just how do you think I will do that?” my creator teased, and I gritted my teeth in anger, and Roxas then quietly signaled me. I went towards him. “What is it?” I asked in a whisper. He then pointed to his left, where the desk was. Some lab utensils had fallen to the ground, and from those utensils, I saw a dissecting knife. “Pick up the knife.” Roxas mouthed out, and I nodded. Suddenly, a hissing noise could be heard near the stasis tube, and that’s when my creator laughed. “At last…the time has come.” he said, and Roxas and I glanced nervously at each other. The hissing continued, and after about thirty seconds, the contraptions surrounding the stasis tube started to shift and move around like snakes, and then the glass from the stasis tube slowly opened, and all the liquid blood that contained my creator was dripping down towards the creatures below. As my creator came out of the stasis tube, a mist started to spread everywhere. Roxas and I covered our mouthes and noses with our hands as the mist passed through us, and then we heard my creator laugh once more. He then walked to the left side of the stasis tube and put on some clothes and a lab coat he had stored in a bag. Then, when he turned around to face us, we saw him…his devious grin, his malicious eyes…it was really him! But, I noticed that he looked much younger, and he looked fuller of energy than he had ever been! No doubt a result of the dead corpses and my blood...it made me feel horrified! He then reached for a remote that he had in his lab coat, and when he pressed the button, a bridge formed out of the mechanical pieces of the stasis tube, and he walked toward us, grinning all the way. “Well then children…I have returned!” he said, and I held the dissecting knife tightly behind me. OOOOOOOOOOO God, it was horrible. The chaos was spreading all over town. Despite my best efforts, and the best efforts of my squad, we weren’t able to contain the enormous amount of monsters that were destroying everything! We were at least alive, and we had taken down a significant amount of monsters, but the more we killed, the more bastards came to take their place. We were starting to run low on ammo, and now I knew that we were now in our final straits. I looked towards my fellow policemen, and even though they were trying to be as brave as possible, I could tell that all of this was taking a heavy toll on them. They were tired, they were barely able to keep shooting. I closed my eyes, and for the first time, I felt a tinge of fear creep into my heart. It looks like death was finally upon us. I didn’t want to admit it, hell, I would be the last person to admit defeat and die, but right now, this situation was getting way too out of hand! Still, we trudged our way through the horde of monsters, and we rescued as many civilians as we could. The town was almost empty, save for the dead corpses of police, civilians and monsters…this was a living hell. “Officer Claire, we’re dangerously low on ammo!” one of the policemen warned, and I gritted my teeth and thought for a few seconds of what to do. “What’ll we do now?” another policeman asked. I then glanced back towards the end of the street, and then I thought… “Alright men, we’re going to make our final stand on the precint! At least we can hold out a bit more than in the streets! Besides, we’ve saved all the civilians here, we just need to go to the precint, contact the others and ask if they’ve secured the rest of the town! Hopefully, we can get reinforcements our way!” I explained, and they all nodded. “You heard her, men, let’s go!” one of the policemen said, and with that, we all started to run towards the precint, shooting monsters down along the way. I then took a grenade I had in one of my pockets and I threw it near my motorcycle, just neatly positioned where the monsters were coming from. “Burn, you bastards!” I yelled as the grenade blew up, causing the motorcycle to explode and cause numerous amounts of the monsters to burn. I figured that would buy us a little time. We ran as fast as we could, and as we ran, we saw all the corpses of the policemen and civilians who had been caught up in this madness. I cursed under my breath, feeling useless about this entire situation! It seemed that no matter how hard I tried, things were just getting worse! As we reached the halfway point toward the precint, we found ourselves surrounded by more monsters, and this time, they were perched on the windows and roofs of the buildings surrounding us. They were coming at us from all sides! I readied my gun, and the policemen with me did the same, and we all stood back to back, making sure none of us was split up from the other. I glanced over my shoulder at them, and they were all terrified. I couldn’t blame them, though. Even I was starting to feel terrified of this predicament. I sighed and shook my head. “Well boys, it looks like this is our final stop…” I uttered. “It was an honor serving with you, Officer Claire!” the policemen said, and I nodded and smiled. “And it was an honor for me to have worked with all of you. So then, if this is how it’s going to end, let’s do it with a bang, shall we?” I suggested, and the officer beside me laughed. “Couldn’t have put it better myself!” he agreed, and just as the monsters were going to leap at us from all sides, a sudden explosion could be heard not to far from where we were. “Ground units, Captain Strife heading downward.” I heard a familiar voice say from one of the policemen’s communicaton devices. I then smirked and chuckled to myself. “About time you showed up, pretty boy…” I whispered, and then we all looked upward. From the sky, a police copter zoomed toward our location, gunners on both sides, shooting down the monsters that were going to attack us. From the police copter, a blonde, blue eyed man swooped in with shotgun in hand, shooting down every monster that got in his way. When he ran out of ammo, he drew a giant sword he had strapped to his back. He then sliced through a few monsters and then landed on top of one of the crashed cars in the area, and then he walked toward us. This guy was really a show off. Even though he had a grim face and acted all cool and moody, he was a chump. Still, knowing that he came just in the right moment to save us made me feel so much more relieved! The policemen and I continued to shoot down the other monsters heading toward us while the copter loomed above us, providing cover, and then the blonde man stopped right in front of me. “Looks like you needed help.” he said, and I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, sure, pretty boy, I had this all under control!” I replied, and the blonde scoffed and chuckled softly. “It’s Strife. Captain Cloud Strife. You should know that by now.” he said, and I laughed and shook my head. “Well, Captain Strife, you really pulled through for us. Thanks.” I said, and he nodded. “No problem. Now come with me, we have to gather the rest of the police force and draw the monsters in to one location, that way, we can get rid of them all at once!” he explained, and I nodded. I then glanced back at the other policemen. “You heard him, men. Let’s get to it!” I declared, and they saluted. “Yes ma’am!” they all said in unison. And so, from there, Cloud and I kept trudging through the streets, findind as many policemen as we could, and we decided that I’d cover behind while Cloud covered in front of us. The monsters came at us relentlessly, but at least now that we had more ammo and more policemen, we could get through this better. All the while, I thought of Roxas, and then Xion. I prayed that they were safe…but I sensed in my heart that they were in grave danger. But I couldn’t do anything for them now. My main priority now was to secure as many civilians possible while taking down these monstrous things! All I could do for Roxas and Xion was pray that they’d be okay. Noticing a monster heading right for me, I shook off my thoughts and finished it off quickly with a bullet to the head. As we kept running, we finally reached theh precint, and then we all got inside and barred the doors shut, to give us some time. I then looked for a communication device that would communicate with all the policemen in town, and when the communication device started working, I pressed the button, and then I glanced back at Cloud, who nodded and had his weapon ready. “Attention, all units! Draw in these bastards toward the precint! We’re going to finish them off here! This is Officer Claire, over and out!” (End Song Here) ----------------------------------- “You shall become one with me, girl!” “Roxas, get away!” “Xion, are you crazy!?” “Live…” Stay tuned for Chapter Forty Eight: ‘Heart’ Part 8 Of 10: Xion vs. Even.” Okay everyone, that was the chapter!
