Caxkj 481 Posted August 8, 2014 I can see a lot of the fanbase enjoy and love that particular world. But truthfully... I don't get it. I never really enjoyed seeing or playing through that world at all, not quite colourful or impacting when I visit the various other worlds in the series as a whole. Don't get me wrong, there are worser worlds out there, but when I first played through Traverse Town, I just thought it was long, pandering, needleesly complexed added during the release of KH3D, and most of all, boring. I just don't get the love for it, that's all. Maybe it's because I played KH2 first and Hollow Bastion blew me away it made Traverse Town not as epic. But when I play the games, surprisingly, Traverse Town is the one I seriously dread going to the most, the close second being Wonderland. I seriously believe it's overrated, but that's just me thought on the matter. Does anyone else feel the same, or is there something I'm missing about the world that gets people liking it? MasterXemnas 2,285 Posted August 8, 2014 Fool. Nope, it's not overrated. A lot of the fanbase liking it isn't even a measure of overrating something. Now if a good chunk of people said that Hollow Bastion is the best world ever, than it would be overrated. 2 Exiblade7 and BlueKeyblade reacted to this
Skhyatze 165 Posted August 8, 2014 I really like Traverse Town. It is the 2nd world that you see in the first KH game. It's chill, has nice music, and some pretty good heartless. The KH3D version is nowhere near as good as the KH1 version. It was immersive and you felt more like you were in a town that meant something. Twilight Town is nice but it felt a lot more linear 1 FerroAxel7 reacted to this
Ruby Rose 8,591 Posted August 8, 2014 After living on that island for 13 years, Traverse Town was a breath of fresh air I'm sorry if you don't love the first new world we all visited at the beginning of our journeys in this beautiful saga 1 Tigerruss reacted to this
Master Keeper 687 Posted August 8, 2014 Well, I am actually finding Radiant Garden, Land of Departure, The World That Never Was more cooler than Traverse Town as main worlds to my opinion. But each world has it's touch and Traverse Town seems to be a peaceful world that looks more realistic, not as graphic, but as design because it looks more like a real place that exists when you look at the bell, restaurant, hotel and stores they all seems more into our actual world. Another reason is because of the mixed characters and the idea of "changing depending on it's situation" makes it more attractive, having characters from FF and TWEWY in addition to the normal characters makes it more like a special world.I like all the main worlds of KH and each has it's own traits and I think this is why a lot of people are attracted to Traverse Town. Caxkj 481 Posted August 8, 2014 Looks like somebody hasn't played 3[Dream Drop Distance]Oh I've played it, and it did nothing but give me more reason to dislike it further. Fool. Nope, it's not overrated. A lot of the fanbase liking it isn't even a measure of overrating something. Now if a good chunk of people said that Hollow Bastion is the best world ever, than it would be overrated. Fool. Fair point. I really like Traverse Town. It was immersive and you felt more like you were in a town that meant something. Twilight Town is nice but it felt a lot more linear I can see your point, but the atmosphere, music and Heartless just makes me want to distance myself from the world as far as possible. felt like I was in a town that acted as a foster home than anything that spectacular. I'm fairly indifferent to Twilight Town. After living on that island for 13 years, Traverse Town was a breath of fresh airI'm sorry if you don't love the first new world we all visited at the beginning of our journeys in this beautiful saga It's fine. DragonMaster 1,166 Posted August 8, 2014 I don't really like Traverse Town either. The one in KH3D was alright, but I also thought that some of the new additions had too much color (and really just a circus vibe), which clashed with the rest of the town. I didn't find it very fun to play in any of the games besides 3D, and I find its aesthetics to be pretty boring. I also really don't care for navigating the place (even though it isn't difficult). Oh, and I really dislike the gizmo shop, and I'm not even sure why.
WakelessDream 2,278 Posted August 8, 2014 I personally really liked Traverse Town actually. It's not my favorite world, but I think it was one of the better done ones. The KH3D version was a little meh, but I thought in the original Kingdom Hearts it was pretty neat. I personally don't think it's overrated, but to each their own I guess. 1 Sora96 reacted to this

I can see where you're going with this. And I can concur over Traverse Town being the closest realistic world. And I care little for graphics, so that's not one of my main issues. I never knew any of the FF or TWEWY characters before the game anyway. Unfortuenately its traits are rather distasteful to me than fascinating. I don't really like Traverse Town either. Oh, and I really dislike the gizmo shop, and I'm not even sure why. Just pointed some of the problems I have with the world. Kudos! The design and shape of the world are, to be accurate in my perspective, "ugly". The places to go to are not really all that interesting. And it doesn't help that it feels repetative to having to go back there again and again through the majority of KH1. I personally really liked Traverse Town actually. It's not my favorite world, but I think it was one of the better done ones. The KH3D version was a little meh, but I thought in the original Kingdom Hearts it was pretty neat. I personally don't think it's overrated, but to each their own I guess.I respect that. The KH3D version, however, felt more complex and unnecessary; going through the new drawn-out areas gave me incentive to leave as quickly as possible. 1 DragonMaster reacted to this
Arya Stark 1,337 Posted August 8, 2014 I personally really like it. It's super chill and calm, and I like the aesthetic designs. I personally prefer it to Radiant Garden. The whole small city vibe at night really worked for me. Also, that's where you first meet the FF characters, which I enjoyed.
FutureKeybearer 36 Posted August 8, 2014 Personally, I dread Wonderland far more. Hell I don't even dread Traverse Town.
Neptune Vasilias 340 Posted August 8, 2014 KH1 Traverse Town was like a big Disney Orgy which many people enjoyed. It doesn't really matter to me because my "home" or starting world of choice is Twilight Town
Movies798 1,358 Posted August 8, 2014 I actually like Traverse Town. In my opinion Traverse Town was a lot better in Dream Drop Distance because the area was expanded and the music was a lot better.
VisitJoan 2,713 Posted August 8, 2014 I kinda agree with you here. It's not that Traverse Town is bad, it's just that I liked HB better. TT was more interesting in DDD though.

AngeI 11 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) Heck it's one of my favorite worlds in the KH world, that music is just so awesome and I love the Logo for Traverse Town especially from Dream Drop Distance with the 3D effect on. Dracozombie 4,554 Posted August 9, 2014 It may not wow me to actually play, but Traverse Town is one of my favorite worlds because of its atmosphere. The building architecture, the nightlife, and the music all appeal to me. It has a jaunty, warm "home" feeling, which Sora would need considering the first time he arrives there, his homeworld got eaten by shadowy thingies. 1 Cucco reacted to this
MyDixieRect 2,061 Posted August 9, 2014 Shouldn't we be comparing Traverse Town to Twilight Town?
Squall Leonhart 49 Posted August 15, 2014 i see more people liking twilight town than traverse town which i hardly ever see even get mentioned personally it's my favorite world because of the atmosphere, music, and it feels like a home away from home always being the place i'd go back to in kh1 to restock on things and upgrade weapons/accessories and sometimes i'd just go back to it just to take a small bread from fighting i also like the refugee feel to it being the world that only appears when someone needs it. if you don't like it that's fine, but i wouldn't really call it overrated by any means
littleTSUBAME 483 Posted August 22, 2014 I like Traverse Town, because it's the first world we get to go after Destiny Islands (nostalgy!), and it has nice atmosphere. i think they made it a little too complex in DDD (just the world, liked the story, of course ) and I prefer it in KH1. Nafees Rahman 35 Posted August 30, 2014 I enjoy it a bit as a glorified hub world, all the npcs and little things you could do were pretty neat
King_Graham 135 Posted September 5, 2014 I enjoyed it in KH1. And in DDD, the theme gave me an eargasm.
MysticVriska 70 Posted October 7, 2014 (edited) I enjoy Traverse Town well enough as well. It has a nice atmosphere to just chill or even to go exploring around.VERY nice music too over all, plus it was a good way to add FF cameos without relying on them too much.
