Sora and Riku: World's Finest (1x1 w/ rikunobodyxiii)

Yen Sid had contacted Sora and Riku in their Gummi Ship via hologram while they were exploring space. "I've found a new world that I think might hold some interest to you two. It is a world called New Earth. It is in an entirely different realm than the Disney Kingdom. I'm sure you both will find it...very interesting.....After all...it is a world of powerful superheroes!" Yen Sid explained with a wink.

 

"The system it is in is home to different worlds connected with this New Earth....you'll learn as you go along...I'm sure. I had Mickey have Chip n' Dale upgrade your engines to travel at lightspeed so you'll be there ASAP. Consider this your chance to have some fun after all you've done for the worlds!" Yen Sid smiled at the duo.

"Superheroes?" Riku repeated.

His mind went to a pile of comic books in his room on Destiny Island. Most of them were corny, but he had enjoyed them immensely when he was younger.

"Shoulder be worth a look. What do you think, Sora?"

Sora, true to form, was grinning at the idea of meeting Superheroes.

"You bet." He answered.

"Well" Riku sighed. "Better take us down."

Sora nodded and pushed down on the Highwind's control stick to send the Gummi ship toward's the new world.

As they were lowered toward the world, they heard a voice and were shown images of a male scientist and a female scientist putting a infant into a space pod. "He'll never know our names....he'll never know where he comes from....his legacy as a Kryptonian will be lost forever." ..the name...Lara Lor-Van popped into the duo's heads.

 

The male, as the name Jor-El came into the boys' minds, spoke soothingly to his wife. "We will give him the only chance....the chance at life. Krypton...our home planet here...is doomed. We have located a fine young planet named Earth....it has a yellow sun...his cells will drink its radiation in...hopefully...he uses this power wisely. The Earthlings...they have something.....I'm not sure what it is, but...it feels as though its something we as Kryptonians have lost along our way to becoming a so called advanced race."

 

Lara began to weep over her son, Jor-El hugged her and approached the baby, wrapped in a blue blanket, with an S shield on it. "Goodbye my son.....our hopes, our dreams travel with you. You will give them an ideal to aspire to, embody their highest aspirations. The earthlings, they will race...and stumble, and fall..and crawl and curse...until finally..they will join you in the sun....in time....I know...you will help them...accomplish wonders." 

The pod took off into space, and Lara and Jor-El kissed as the planet Krypton was shown to explode.

 

The next scene they were shown, was in a dark alleyway...and a small boy was shown to be exiting a theater..obviously rich...he was obviously exited to having been on an outing with his parents..to the theater. And was pretending to slash out bad guys with a make believe sword..

Both Sora and Riku were confused by these visions.

"Riku?" He asked.

"No idea." Riku answered. "But it seems to be important. Best set the ship on auto pilot as these...things go on."

Sora nodded and reached down to flip on the autopilot.

"How much longer do we have?" Riku asked, blinking as he tried to get a handle on these visions.

"Just a few minutes, with these new engines." Sora answered.

Riku grunted. Till then, they had these "in-flight movies", he guessed.

The vision changed somewhat, as the boy and his parents entered a dark alleyway...with puddles on the ground from recent rain. "Bruce....come here." The boy's father said as a man approached them, his eyes wild as he pulled a gun just then on the boys' father and mother. 

 

"Give me your wallet! Now!" The man demanded. 

 

The man held his hands up, "Just...take it easy....here." He handed over his wallet carefully to the mugger. The situation was tense.

 

The man's gun hand shook, "Give me those pearls around your neck!" He practically shouted, reaching for the boys' mother's pearl necklace. The father stepped in front of the man, "Hey-"BANG!

 

The father fell to the ground, a bleeding wound in his chest, the mother began to scream, but was cut off as her pearls were broken off her neck violently by the mugger turned murderer, and then another bang as she was gunned down too.

 

The boy stared down at his fallen parents, now toppled on top of each other, he couldn't believe how quickly things had changed. He fell to his knees as his father reached out to him and took his smaller hand in his own.

 

"Bruce.....d-don't be afraid." 

 

The scene changed, the boy was shown in a mansion and entering down a secret staircase to an elaborate setup below situated in a cave.

 

An older man, a butler approached him, as Bruce hit a switch and a case rose up out of the floor. It held a grey and black costume with a yellow and black Bat symbol on the chest. As Bruce suited up Alfred approached him. "Master Bruce are you sure this is appropriate for a man such as yourself to be going out at night as a vigilante?" 

 

'Batman' came into the boys' heads...

 

"What else is there Alfred? Gotham is rotting....nobody else is doing anything about it....Why the mugger or thief stops to think twice...why the criminals feel easier when the sun rises....THAT is what I am. I'm not the little boy who you shined his shoes anymore Alfred, I'm sorry." Bruce explained to his butler and friend in the vision.

 

The vision changed yet again to a brighter scene, one finally where a man who was clearly the baby from the planet that exploded, was flying through a different city called Metropolis dressed in a bright blue outfit with red boots and the S shield on the front with a red cape. 

Finally the visions faded and the duo found themselves plopped on Wayne Manor's front lawn.

Riku blinked, then started at where he and Sora were.

"I thought this thing warned us when it was landing." He said, unlocking himself from his seat.

"I think it did." Sora replied as he checked the Highwind's instruments. "Guess we were too wrapped up in what we were seeing."

The younger Keyblade Wielder paused, his face a mix of concern and confusion.

"Riku, about what we saw, I-"

"I think we saw the past." Riku cut in, not sure he wanted to discuss the loss he had seen. "Maybe it was Master Yen Sid's way to get us up to speed on this world."

The dark Master looked out of the glass dome of the Highwind's cockpit. From the view he could see, he felt this was a big world. Maybe it was good to know a few faces before heading out. He watched the view for a bit before turning back to his friend, who had shut down the ship's systems and was unhooking himself from the pilot's chair.

"So, do you think this is...'Gotham' or 'Metropolis'?" Riku asked.

"No idea." Sora answered.

He stood up and smiled broadly.

"Let's find out!"

Both friend left the cockpit and opened the hatch to step out onto this new world.

Alfred was trimming the hedges when he heard voices on the front lawn. They sounded young too, he sighed...figuring it was a couple of pranksters and went toward the voices. He spotted a boy with spiky brown hair and another with longer...silver hair.

Their clothes were....strange to say the least. "Odd...must be trying to create a new fad of some sort." He approached them, not sure if he should be wary should they be hoodlums or just....lost.

 

He cleared his throat from behind them, and spoke. "Alfred Pennyworth at your service, what can I do for you boys?"

Sora smiled at the butler.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Pennyworth." He greeted in a friendly tone. "I'm Sora and this is Riku."

Riku nodded his greeting to Alfred. The name clicked in his mind with the vision he and Sora had coming to this world.

"We're here to see Ba-" Sora started, before Riku punched him the the shoulder. "Ow!"

"We are here to see Beuce Wayne." The Dark Master said quickly, remembering that the superheroes in his comics had a "secret identity."

Sora gave his friend an odd look, but stayed silent.

Alfred looked them over, "Well...come along then. Master Wayne has been particularly busy these days...what with adopting that poor boy Dick Grayson from the circus and all...poor child's parents were murdered by some mobster...he had no one until Bruce came along. They were a trapeze act, and someone sabotaged the rope. You two don't look....like you're from Gotham, forgive me for saying so but....usually people don't dress so....brightly here in Gotham."

 

Alfred continued, "Gotham has gotten much better recently....what with the new police commissioner and all...that Gordon fellow....and....some helpful others. The Gotham PD used to be rampant with corruption, thankfully that isn't as common now." They came into a room with sliding Japanese doors, they heard the sounds of a spar coming from inside.

 

Alfred struggled to open the door, "Blasted thing...." He finally slid it open and they saw Bruce Wayne and a young teenager sparring with different martial arts moves on a mat, they were wearing karate outfits, and Bruce was giving the boy advice...but also taunting him in a gentle sort of way.

 

"Come on! You can't beat me like that! Remember what I taught you!" Bruce told the boy as he grappled with the kid and flipped him over his back easily.

 

The boy ran at Bruce, straight forward. Bruce made the shape of a gun with his fingers and said "Bang! If I was the enemy....you'd be dead, Dick. You have to move around more....can't just go running in a straight line. Now we're gonna practice that disarming technique I taught you-" 

 

"You know I suck at that-" Dick complained.

 

"You'll practice it until you get it right, and you will get it right eventually. Just as I did with my master." 

 

Alfred cleared his throat before this could go any further. "M-Master Bruce, Master Dick...these two boys....would like to meet....BRUCE....WAYNE?" Alfred emphasized the name.

Sora and Riku followed after Alfred, patiently listening to the butler's explanation. Sora looked down at himself in response of Alfred's crack about his and Riku's clothes.

"What's wrong with our clothes?" He whispered to Riku.

Riku shrugged.

"No idea." He whispered back.

Sora looked down again, then shrugged and went back to listening to Alfred. Both Keyblade Wielders heard the sound of two people fighting and tensed up. They both relaxed when the opening door revealed Bruce and Dick training. Sora stepped forward after Alfred's introduction, treating Bruce and Dick to a friendly smile.

"Hi, I'm Sora, and that's Riku." He introduced himself, jerking a thumb to his best friend. "Good to meet you, Batman!"

Riku cringed slightly.

Dick's and Bruce's eyes widened, they looked at each other for a few moments, in shock. Alfred stepped up to the plate then, closing the door behind them, "Alright...just who are you two!? You show up on the property and all of a sudden you know-"

 

Bruce placed a hand on his butler and friend's shoulder, "Relax Alfred...they don't look...er....like the types that would do anything bad with this information...." Bruce turned to them.

 

"Mind telling me who you are and how you figured it out? I've taken many precautions to prevent something like this happening." Bruce explained and asked.

Both Sora and Riku shared a look. They were general under orders to not tell people about other worlds, but if that Superman was here like the vision indicated, then maybe this world already knew about others?

"Um, we're not from around here." Sora answered.

"We came from another world." Riku continued. "We were told a little about you and someone named Superman."

Dick blinked, "Um....well....you don't look like aliens to me."

 

"You say you know about Superman and you came from another world....what do you mean by another world? Do you just mean a planet or an entirely different dimension? Neither is unheard of here." Bruce explained.

Sora and Riku looked at each other, a little confused.

"I'm not sure what another dimension is." Sora admitted. "Is that like another realm?"

"We've been to other worlds, but none quite like yours." Riku added. "Considering what it took for us to get here, our world and yours must be far apart."
