This is Kingdom Hearts we're talking about.  And given the PS3's work with other HD collections, I hoped that at some point Kingdom Hearts would make it into the HD space, and thank God that it was so!  I am very happy the HD ReMixes made it to PS3!

I figured it would come eventually.  With the trend of HD remakes for old games and Nomura going on and on about trying to make the series accessible to new players, I figured it was bound to come down the road.

I thought the same thing at first but the more I thought about it, I realized that even though disney lost the rights to Tarzan, they still owned the rights to Tarzan with in Kingdom Hearts 1, so they could still use it! 

 

This is in contrast to games like Donkey Kong 64. Nintendo owns the Donkey Kong characters obviously, but Rare made the game and used both their logo with the Rare coin and the rocket mini game, which they owned. If they owned the characters, they could remake the game on any platform, but they don't. Likewise, if Nintendo had made the game while licensing the Rare-owned parts of the game, they would have full rights to what was in that game, despite Microsoft owning Rare, and could do a remake of it.

If I remember correctly, I had conversations with a friend of mine about an HD collection not too long before the first ReMIX was announced. I was shocked when I found out about it.

I did but not in the way that we are getting them. I honestly only thought we would've gotten Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix since they where the only ones that where originally on the PS2 and I was actually thinking that we probably wouldn't even have gotten the Final Mix versions of the games either

When I saw a KH3D screenshot of KH1 Sora and Riku I thought it was a port of KH1. After finding out the truth, I thought of the other games being released on newer systems but I didn't think it would actually happen .

Nope.  I also thought with them not having rights to the Tarzan they weren't gonna completely eliminate the world from the game so wouldn't make it.

Just thought it would be only KH and KH2, maybe BBS too. Nothing more.
