After the events of Battle of Gods, Bulma becomes curious about the other gods like Beerus out there. A little TOO curious. And she begins scanning the heavens for such beings....looking for other dimensions apart from the ones the Z Fighters have known and explored. She stumbles upon a strange signal, and just like that she is zapped with strange red beams through her computer and transported into this new world. 

This new world is Apokolips, home of Darkseid and his minions. He has his Parademons lock Bulma up in Granny Goodness' orphanage, in preparation for her training to become a true warrior who will 'die for Darkseid' to replace the failure that was Big Barda.

Of course the Z fighters won't take this lying down, and Dr. Brief soon makes contact with another set of people who are familar with this Darkseid person.
