Playstation Now!

Recommended Posts

Sony's new service Playstation Now will be available to North America as a Beta as off tomorrow. Playstation Now is a service which allows someone with a PS4 to play PS3 and PSVita titles. As off right now 100 games are available for rental. Playstation Now may possibly include Legacy PS2 titles at full launch.

Not excited. It's overpriced. Owning games is always better :/

They lowered prices and there will be a subscription model.

And actually PlayStation Now allows people to stream PlayStation 3 games and eventually PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 1 games to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Sony Bravia TVs and eventually PlayStation Vita, smartphones, tablets and PC.

I wouldn't mind just paying a bit more for a PS4 model with backwards compatibility instead. It would make it more expensive but I could sell my PS3 and make a little money towards it.

PS3 backwards compatibility is not possible due to how different the hardware was. They had to give it up it in order to make it easier to develop for.

They said the reason it wasn't included was because it would make it too expensive like the PS3 at launch, but I wouldn't mind having one.

No, the hardware is just too different. They can't even emulate PS3 games.

Ok I read up on it and your right. I would however like to have PS2 compatibility. Sticking a very compressed PS2 into the PS4 case and having them share the same optical drive would be a good idea for them. It wouldn't make much difference to the price either.

They can add backwards compatibility with PS2 & PS1 games via update. So yes, hopefully they do. HD emulation is at least likely.

It would make the fire hazard behind my TV a little smaller xD
