what if the reason for them not appearing is actually because after sora & riku defeat xehanort they have to go on a pilgrimage with tidus wakka and auron to defeat "sin" and seymore who appears in every world as a cool but super annoying boss fight in kingdom hearts IV or kh III DLC.

Not really. These are AU versions of the characters. Auron, Yuna and Tidus don't even have any idea of each other's existence.

I don't think we're going to see any FF characters play more prominent roles in Kh than they have in the past.

Except in Sora Donald and goofy use disguises to blend in. The Fairy Forms just made YRP stick out in Radiant Garden.

This.  They're not important in the game outside of a grinding spot early on.  Selphie's probably only in KH2 because she's a female we can see Kairi be friends with.  Tidus and Wakka weren't worth the cost of creating or using, pretty much like anyone's parents in it.
