Sora96 17,256 Posted July 21, 2014 Since the Nintendo 3DS launched it's been a pretty boring handheld to me. I enjoyed Mario Kart 7 and Kingdom Hearts 3D. I also enjoyed Pokemon X however was let down by the lack of post-game content and average region. I also got Ocarina of Time 3D and experienced the greatest let down in video game history personally. Let's just say it bored me to death. So it's exciting to me to finally have some games coming up that warrant my purchase a few years ago. THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY CURTAIN CALL, Pokemon Omega Ruby, Super Smash Bros and Final Fantasy Explorers. This'll keep me satisfied until about 2016. 1 Silent reacted to this
atheist123 583 Posted July 21, 2014 I haven't tried Ocarina of Time yet. I never played the original (so no nostalgia) and I have heard conflicting things about the 3D Zelda titles. I've played A Link Between Worlds and loved that though so maybe I will give OoT a shot. I have liked: Pokemon Y Kingdom Hearts 3D Bravely Default A Link Between Worlds Mixed feelings: Fire Emblem Awakening (played for 30 hours but can't seem to get the motivation to finish it) Shinobi (decent platformer, worth the $10 I spent on it)

I wasn't focusing on only upcoming titles I was more focused on already released one Some of the games I've mentioned aren't even made by Nintendo like Shin Megami Tensei IV,Project X Zone....etc and if you only play just two Nintendo franchises like only Mario and Pokemon then really you won't have your purchase warranted as there are more Nintendo games like Fire Emblem,Metroid and Kid Icarus out there. All I'm saying is.Try something different,it won't kill you.I too wasn't interested in SMT and Persona yet after playing Shin Megami Tensei IV I fell in love with Atlus's franchises and began to try Persona, more SMT games and Etrian Odyssey. Actually this branches more to other consoles not just the 3DS,try to play RPGs that are not made by Square Enix on any consoles There are Ps1 classics like Suikoden 2,Wild Arms,Legend of Dragoon....etc Ps2 gems like Shadow Hearts,SMT Digital Devil Saga,Rouge Galaxy....etc Or awesome RPGs on the Ps3 like Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch It doesn't have to be made by Square Enix in order to be good Here is something that can help Edited July 21, 2014 by Annoying D Waluigi 1 Cucco reacted to this

And none of those games interest me anyway. I'm fine with my current interests since I've always got games to play. No point wasting my money and something that I don't like the look of when I've already got other games sitting there. And you keep saying I only like Square Enix games, but that's rubbish. I play plenty of games including Madden, FIFA, Transformers, Dragon Ball Z, LittleBigPlanet, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Pokemon, Star Wars, Lego Star Wars and now I'm about to play Uncharted. Well at least try one of those games to see if you like them or not,old games can be great ya know. You can pick the games I've mentioned through sales like PS Plus discount or e-shop discounts so if you're worried about money then you won't be wasting much as most of what I've mentioned is available on PS Store and the e-shop especially since most Ps1 games cost less than 9$ Also I didn't say that you only play Square Enix games but I mean in terms of RPGs only as it seems that all the RPGs you've mentioned aside from Pokemon are all made by Square I already know that you play other games but Square seems to be the primary focus here when it comes to the RPGs you mention

I'm always playing the classic FF games. I don't need or want to add some other random RPG to play.

Well I don't hate Western RPGs and I respect some of the popular ones like Dark Souls and The Witchers, but it's just not for me when it comes to gameplay and story I won't deny that there are lots of good Western JRPG but it's not for me and I couldn't get into it 1 atheist123 reacted to this

I don't really play western RPGs much. I played a LOTR game on PS2 but that's all I can really remember. Although to be honest, tons of games include RPG elements these days. Zoro317 111 Posted July 21, 2014 If you're looking for something to hold you over until Smash Bros and the Ruby/Sapphire remakes, you should give Fire Emblem: Awakening a try. It's definitely the best 3DS title I've played so far, which is strange since I'd never played a single Fire Emblem game prior to it  1 Cucco reacted to this

EternalKeyblade 39 Posted July 21, 2014 Thanks for the suggestion, but I've got plenty of games to play in the mean time including FF3, The After Years, Uncharted, Curtain Call, likely Uncharted 2 & 3 and FF2. I bought my 3DS a couple months ago, I was thinking about getting MK7 when I got it, but I had just got MK8. Here the games I have now Pokemon X Kingdom Hearts 3D LoZ: Link Between Worlds Project X Zone Kirby Triple Deluxe DK Country Returns 3D (Thanks for the cheap reward Club Nintendo -_-) Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon Fire Emblem: Awakening Star Fox Command Namco Museum/collection whatever I have to say out of everything I have right now, I have only been on Pokemon X not because the other stink, it's just I have to finish off Pokemon X's Pokedex first (676 out 719). I am desperate to play Fire Emblem Awakening though and I have to say all the games I thought I was going to like (i.e Mario Kart, 3D Land, Animal Crossing) except X, KH3d, and Dark Moon, haven't really interested me all these other games especially X, have really really surprised me. I just hope they make a new Metroid for 3DS and I can't wait for Smash 4. If you are looking for any 3DS games to hold you over that are sorta short but fun, I would definitely say Kirby Triple Deluxe. Before that though go play the Uncharted games, they are amazingly awesome and cinematic and if you haven't played TLOU go try that masterpiece afterwards, alongside The Walking Dead: Season 1, KH, and Assassin's Creed 2 this is one of the only games that made me cry. Moni_22 335 Posted July 21, 2014 I have Pokemon Y, KH3D, Mario & Luigi Dream Team Bros, Tomodachi Life, Kirby Triple Deluxe and Fire Emblem Awakening. I LOVE them all. And there are also other 3DS games that I love but I couldn't bought like Ace Attorney Dual Destinies, Kid Icarus Uprising, the two Layton games... and there are lots of other great games that I don't really like but people seem to love. Oh, I also bought HarmoKnight, a downloadable, rhythm game by Game Freak, it's a bit short but really fun and the last phases are DIFFICULT, like, I had to do the last phase about 100 times to complete it one time, talk about desperation
Setrex 1,031 Posted July 21, 2014 That's a little disappointing that you only now are finding the 3DS was a worthwhile purchase. Personally the 3DS was a worthwhile purchase for me around the time KH3D dropped, I had games like Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land and I disliked them a lot. However, in 2012 the 3DS picked off and it was great. Last year was even better with games like Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Pokemon XY, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Bravely Default. I think you need to really expand your horizon's and at least try new types of games. Of course, if you don't like the look of a game or don't feel like spending money that's cool too but the 3DS has far far better games than the upcoming ones you mentioned or past ones you've played. It never hurts to at least try something new. 2 Dio Brando and Jilly Shears reacted to this

It's nothing special. OoT only lives by the things it did at its time and that was the fact that it introduced us to the world of 3D Zelda. People who call it the best usually only do so for that reason. 1 atheist123 reacted to this

He said that he enjoyed KH3D, Pokemon X, and Mario Kart 7 (so he acknowledges that there are some good games on the 3DS), just not enough to make him satisfied with his purchase. He thinks that after some new games come out that he would have played enough good games to be satisfied (four more on top of the three he has already played). He purchased a game everyone raves about (Ocarina of Time) and was disappointed by it. I hate wasting $60 or whatever it is. I clearly stated I've enjoyed three games on the 3DS and was letdown by a game everyone goes on about. I also listed four games coming very soon. I do not need to "broaden my horizons" when I also play plenty of other games on my PS3, not to mention I'm currently playing all the classic Final Fantasy games on my smartphone which are of course quite long and I don't want to spend every waking hour playing RPGs because that would get boring.
