Concerning Pixar In The Next Saga.

Recommended Posts

Hey there everyone, how's it going?  You know, with all the hype and anticipation of the end of the Xehanort Saga, one can't help but wonder what Nomura has in store for us in regards to the next saga.  His brilliant mind is always popping up with ideas and amazing stories, so I'm sure there won't be any lack of creativity coming from our esteemed series creator.  So then, what I want to discuss is about Pixar films possibly making it into the next saga.

We all know that there's a high chance that Nomura will tap on Pixar movies for use in the Kingdom Hearts Universe, heck, we've even gone so far as to speculate that at least one or two Pixar worlds could make it into Kingdom Hearts III.  But since this is the end of the Xehanort Saga, I think it's best if Nomura saves Pixar worlds for the next saga, that way he can introduce a few Pixar worlds in the beginning of the next saga, instead of cramming two or so worlds into Kingdom Hearts III for the sake of putting them there.  And I think that a great theme for Nomura to explore for the next saga is the aftermath of the Xehanort Saga.  Let me explain.

You see, after every big battle, the aftermath always brings about different emotions.  The calm of the storm, so to speak, brings about feelings of relief, but also uncertain feelings about the future.  A fear that no one might be safe after all, or maybe the thought that one can never go back to the way things were.  Case in point is the film Wall.E.  The film deals with the aftermath of the departure of humans from Earth.  The planet was filled to the brim with trash and pollution, so much to the point that humanity had to build the Axiom, a gargantuan spaceship that could be able to harbor the entire human race, so they could be able to populate it.  They left Earth and stayed in space for 700 years.  Where am I going with all of this you ask?

Well, the thing is, that Wall.E, a small maintenance robot, remained in a post apocalyptic Earth, dealing with the aftermath of humanity's departure.  That's the thing about the aftermath.  It leaves many questions hanging, and thoughts about what the future might hold. Nomura could use Wall.E and take advantage of this world to explore the theme of aftermath.  For example, Sora and friends wonder what happens next.  Will their lives ever truly go back to the way they were?  What will happen in the future?  In the case that Sora and the gang lose many friends in the final battle against Xehanort, how will they cope with the losses of their friends?  That is why I think that the theme of aftermath would be great as a starting point for the next saga, and Wall.E could help mirror Sora and the gang's own aftermath after the battle against Xehanort and the Thirteen Darknesses.  And who knows what other PIxar worlds Nomura could use? Anyways, what do you all think?  Do you think Nomura will use Pixar worlds for the next saga?  And if so, what worlds would you want to see, and why? What themes do you think that Nomura could explore?

A Pixar summon should be in KH3 as a tease for future worlds (the same thing happened with Mushu and Simba in KH1 and Stitch in KH2, so KH3 should continue this tradition of teasing future worlds).

I have talked about Pixar worlds before and, while I would still like one in KH3, I like the idea of the Kingdom Hearts Universe opening up to Pixar and other Disney-owned properties during the aftermath of Xehanort's demise.

Considering the unused Woody and Buzz summons, it's safe to say that Pixar isn't completely out of the question in KH, but at this point it might actually better if they indeed saved it for the next saga--the finale should stick with what it already used.  That said, I've always felt there are only a handful of Pixar films that would be appropriate for KH.  Pixar movies, despite the company being owned by Disney now, have a different feel that I don't think makes them appropriate for a huge fantasy setting like Kingdom Hearts.

Pixar films feel too down to earth for me.  Aside from a certain gimmick, like living toys or talking bugs/fish/cars, the films' settings are too grounded in simplicity and the mundane and the real.  There's no wishing upon a star or getting help from fairies to stop the bad guy with magic powers.  The fantasy elements of most Disney films tend to give them a more whimsical or mystical feel, and that's what Kingdom Hearts really feels like.

The only three Pixar films I'd feel comfortable with in KH is The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., and Brave, because their settings play up the fantastic a bit more.  It wouldn't be too out of place for the characters in those films to help Sora beat up some Heartless.  The others, though?  Sorry, I don't know why the villains or the monsters would bother with some fish and bugs.

I just want Toy Story.

Literally JUST give me Toy Story in Kingdom Hearts and I will never bring up Pixar again. I think it's a must for KHIII. Save anything else from Pixar and beyond for later, but Toy Story HAS TO BE IN IT. NO EXCUSES.

I think it'd be better that Nomura leaves some unexplored Pixar worlds for the next saga, so to give it a fresh new feeling. Personally if I saw in the next saga worlds like The Colyseum or Agrabah I wouldn't be that thrilled since we've already seen them a lot of times before. I do agree one Pixar world for KH3 would be nice though.
