This week's Nintendo eShop update adds.....nothing...for 3DS

Recommended Posts

Not joking here, this week's Nintendo eShop update for the Nintendo 3DS in Europe and Australia added nothing.

"We hope you enjoy all the exciting new content added in this week's update."

Lists two discounts. That's all.

I've never seen this before.

eShop updates have been kinda slow lately, on 3DS and Wii U. I thought it'd be really cool if they spent all of Summer releasing a ton of cool Virtual Console games to fill the gap between MK8 and Hyrule Warriors in terms of big games, but they haven't really been doing that.

It would have been great to see them start SNES and GBA games for the 3DS' and 64 for Wii U.

Yeah. A few DS games for Wii U would be nice, too. Heck, even making an announcement for Gamecube games on Wii U would be cool. The GBA thing seems to have died down quite a bit after they went crazy with them back in April.

The 3DS eShop hasn't been good in what feels like ages. Although that might be because I've been enjoying the Wii U side of the eShop more. It seems to be just discounts for this week though on both sides. Earthbound and NES Remix 1&2 are discounted this week on Wii U in Europe and I'm not sure anything new was released.

Scratch that last part, Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land was released on the Wii U VC. Nothing on the 3DS though.

Sad thing is they could easily and really should be releasing those GBA games on the 3DS VC.

I have the 10 ambassador games on my 3DS and they're running through the DS emulation and they look insanely watered down. They could release the games on the 3DS but they'd be sacrificing a nice look port just to please the fans who want them. In contrast, the GBA games look really nice on the Wii U (though I prefer playing on the gamepad over the TV) and they even have the original games manual implemented into it so you can have it on the gamepad while playing on the TV if you want. It's not much but it's a nice feature.

GBA games are in a bit of a strange position for the 3DS, on one hand it's been done and there are millions who have them on their 3DS but on the other the ports don't do justice to their original. If they found a way to make the GBA game run smoothly and to the best quality they can then sure they should be on the 3DS but if they are just running through the DS emulation side of the console then it really isn't worth it.

PSOne Classics aren't that amazing on PS3 (which is they're rumoured to be working on HD emulation) but they do the job. Just having some of the most popular GBA games playable on 3DS would be good enough. Same with SNES games.

Nintendo isn't doing a good job with the eshop especially for the 3DS,we still don't have the N64 and they release the game really slowly,I'm glad they put GBA on Wii U,but it lacks a lot of game.

They should release big virtual console games while we're waiting for the big Wii U/3DS titles

I love the 3DS and I like Nintendo, but they just don't handle the eShop well at all. I just don't understand their strategy. They've got tons of games they could release on the VC, and they just don't. We're lucky to get a couple of interesting games a month (in my opinion). And they just... sit on things. Like, I'm fairly certain they announced Super Mario World 3 (or some Mario game or another) weeks/months ago, and it hasn't been released yet. Or Flipnote, that's been out in Japan for a long time now. It just boggles my mind.

Sometimes, I wonder how much they really care about the eShop. X_X

The funny thing is Nintendo still has Flipnote listed as an upcoming game on their site. It's stupid how much that has been delayed... It's been out in Japan for a year now :(

You're probably thinking of Super Mario Bros 3. It was announced last December if I remember correctly, wasn't released until a few months ago. I forget why they said it took so long, but there really isn't much of an excuse. As for Flipnote, wasn't it taken down in Japan because the servers crashed? I never followed it, but I have a friend who's really mad over it.

Final fantasy tactics advance is all im asking

Can't see that in English on the Virtual Console for another year or so. SE NA and EU don't seem to care about the Virtual Console.

Ah, Super Mario Bros. 3, thanks! :) And yeah, that's what happened with Flipnote at first, but they've had it back up and running for quite some time.
