Film New Big Hero 6 Pics

Disney's using a japanese kid as the main character? Wow, I'm impressed.

They did shift around Nationalities a little bit, though... I think Fred and Wasabi were originally Japanese too but I guess being more multicultural is good (for sales in USA, at least). Two main characters are still Japanese which, for Disney, is good.

It looks like somebody on the designer's team was a fan of Mirror's Edge or something o.o

Overall like the designs, though I do have some issues. But I agree, Mr. Marshmallow is/should be huggable and squishy

Oh my God, these designs look amazing!  As always, Disney is aiming to deliver an enthralling cinematic experience this November!  Seriously, their Animated Classics line of movies are the best in my opinion.  And this one makes number 54. Wow. Time sure flies by. :O

Actually the characters live in the fictional setting of San Fransokyo.

I was talking about the Marvel characters of which these Disney characters are based off. Wasabi was Japanese and Fred was ethnic. I realise that this adaptation wouldn't be 100% accurate since it's more Disney than Marvel but I just thought it was interesting how some of the characters are "accurate" while others are not.

Ah...It's mostly because a lot of this is Disney and not Marvel. It's Marvel characters, but Disney changed a lot, including the setting (which is San Fransokyo in the movie). The original comics took place in Japan, with the team being lead by the Silver Samurai (who we may or may not see. He was the villain in the Wolverine movie though.) and Sunfire (former X-men).

Copyright issues is the reason why Silver Samurai won't be in the film.

Not likely. Disney owns Marvel, which includes him. They've every right to do what they want with any character from Marvel if they feel the need to do so.

But there are other movie companies that has the rights to certain marvel characters like Sony & Columbia has Spiderman, and 21st Century Fox has X-Men.

Some characters are able to be used by multiple companies, like Quicksilver. I'm not sure what it's like with Silver Samurai but I suspect that if Disney really wanted to they could use him. He's not a core member of the X-men franchise, so it could be a similar story to Quicksilver. Since Silver Samurai is a core member of Big Hero Six, Disney should have some right to use him, as long as he isn't a mutant (which Fox owns the rights to).
