Yuya Sakaki 5,212 Posted July 10, 2014 If you're implying that Riku and Sora switch roles, then I don't think it would suit. Riku has that dark vibe to him while Sora is just nearly all light. I can't really imagine it if the roles were swapped. But if Riku were to still undergo that internal clash with the darkness, I think it would still be a fair story. Nomura stated that Sora's appeal as a protagonist is because he's an average kid who gamers can relate to easily, but Riku is too awesome and good at everything to be that relatable. Like maybe giving Sora a few more bad traits so he could be a bad guy (Kinda) in the first game, and maybe changing a few things about Riku: But overall it would still be similar. I think Riku wouldn't have been an as good main character of the series as Sora. Why? I don't know, I can't imagine Kingdom Hearts without Sora.
