Joveus 4 Posted July 9, 2014 Early days, I know. However this seems, to me, to be the most plausible route the series may take considering a few different factors; 1 - Each main Kingdom Hearts title has had a Final Mix within a year of the original release. 2 - A HD release of Dream Drop Distance was decided against at this time because it is both a recent game (2012) and development would draw resources away from Kingdom Hearts III. 3 - Dream Drop Distance is on the table as a downloadable release or "something like that" in the future. 4 - Re:Chain of Memories was bundled with Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix in Japan, so this is something they've done before. 5 - Nomura intends to release a Kingdom Hearts game yearly if possible (at least until the "Seeker of Darkness Saga" ends). So a Final Mix+ for Kingdom Hearts III incorporating Re:Dream Drop Distance (or just a port, or a cutscene version at least) sounds like a realistic scenario to me. If Kingdom Hearts III is released in late 2015 or early 2016, then I would expect this to appear in late 2016. By that point 3D will be four years old and the development team can focus entirely on that without impacting Kingdom Hearts III's development. And I hope, if this is the route they do go down, that the Final Mix is released internationally without a ten year wait this time. 2 143436611Xxcc and roxion reacted to this
Aile 273 Posted July 9, 2014 I don't think they are gonna make any Final mixes(+) anymore. However, a DLC is more likely. Well, we have to wait and see ^w^
Sora96 17,256 Posted July 9, 2014 The reissue/international version release format is dying. Square Enix don't do it anymore. They do DLC. 5 LeYenrz, Exiblade7, Neptune Vasilias and 2 others reacted to this
TerraRedeemed 255 Posted July 9, 2014 It's more likely they will do a 3D HD release sometime before the release of KH3 I think despite it being a more recent title.
roxion 42 Posted July 9, 2014 I really hope they don't make anymore final mix. Or at least release it here too.

The KH staff seems like they don't want to slow down the progress for 3. Plus, 3D is already HD and beyond that Yasue said it was still new. So remastering is less likely until after 3 is released. And to agree with others, SE will do DLC. They probably would have done that in the first place if it had been available on PS2.
TerraRedeemed 255 Posted July 9, 2014 That would be the Osaka team. The actual KH team is developing FFXV. It would be safe to assume the Osaka Team runs this joint now lol I'm assuming the "KH Team" is going to move on to other things after XV.

I personally think 3d will be re released. 1 TerraRedeemed reacted to this
143436611Xxcc 1,105 Posted July 9, 2014 That sounds like a pretty cool idea tbh.... Maybe the final mix version will just be KH3's DLC that has been released already burned onto the disc... Or just a packaging with all the codes. Then have a code for the downloadable version of KH3D.

I personally think 3d will be re released.Maybe, or maybe they won't release any kh games in 2015 or maybe KH X will become canon everywhere. It's up to Square, but I highly doubt they can keep that "one kh game per year" promise for long. Edited July 9, 2014 by roxion

I mean they'ed have to fix some of the lay out and reality shifts but I think they could do it in minimal time with a small team and this is coming from a game developer the reason the other remixs took so long was because they had three games kh1 they had to start remastering from the ground up and in 2.5 their making new scenes for coded. 1 roxion reacted to this

Joveus 4 Posted July 9, 2014 Popular opinion here seems to be that Square Enix will release DLC with Kingdom Hearts III. While that could potentially make any Final Mix function as a sort of Game of the Year Edition containing all the DLC, it would scupper my idea that they will continue the compilation trend they've started by bundling 3D and KHIII together. I do anticipate that there will be a "Seeker of Darkness Saga" pack at the end of all this - I.5 Remix, II.5 Remix, and some variation of III Final Mix+. Tomb Raider and Sleeping Dogs are getting HD re-releases containing their respective DLCs, I hold this as potential that a KHIII Final Mix is not entirely out of the question. Dio Brando 5,810 Posted July 9, 2014 Dude this is like waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early Also,I hope to God they stop the Final Mix editions practice cuz it's really irritating when they keep great content that they should've put in the game in the first place exclusively to Japan. Please no more Final Mixes....give me one complete package and support it with DLC.....I'm tired of Final Mix....this is KH not freakin Street Fighter
Master Keeper 687 Posted July 9, 2014 I hope that there won't be any Final Mix, KH3D HD remastered, or KH3D downloadable and I hope they don't release any new title. I wouldn't mind if they broke the rule and kept being silent for a year without any game just to focus on KHIII completely, we had enough titles. 1 Garrett929 reacted to this

I never complained about BBS and it is a main title like KHII, but as I can see from KH Chi, they are starting to do stupid stuff and that's why I don't want them to get more stupid ideas before the release of KHIII. I want them to release KHIII and end the saga on peace and then let them do whatever they want even if it requires to add Spongebob because as it seems from SE they are starting to have some weird ideas. Joveus 4 Posted July 9, 2014 (edited) I just want Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts III in a neat little package that will go alongside the others, if not as a Final Mix then as an upscaled 3D bundled with vanilla KHIII. After KHII Final Mix remained exclusive to Japan, and Re:Chain of Memories was never released in Europe, I sold all the Kingdom Hearts games I could get in my country (regular KH, CoM for the GBA, regular KHII, regular BbS and Days) since I could never play the "real" version of the games. Seeing the KHI Xemnas fight in the flashbacks at the beginning of KHII compounded the frustration since it was regarded as part of the story. I.5 and II.5 have reignited my interest in the franchise, but only if I can play the complete story. I haven't bought I.5 yet because I'm waiting to see if I can own the complete "Seeker of Darkness Saga" on a single console (or two, I know). I don't want to have to by a 3DS just for one game, I've done the "buying a console for one game that is totally worth it" schtick before (more than once) and I always regret it a few months later. Similarly I don't want to buy a PS4 just for KHIII, but a 3D/KHIII bundle for the PS4 would definitely justify the cost a little bit more. I also call such a collection Final Mix+ since III.5 Remix give the impression it contains something that takes place after III as opposed to before. Neptune Vasilias 340 Posted July 9, 2014 It's never going to happen unless there's a in-store bundle with KH3 and all the DLC that you would call KH3 FM+ but even then it's not the way Final Mixes were. So there will be no more Final Mixes just DLC
