Kingdom Hearts WORST Voice Actors and Voice Acting Moments

As much as we ALL love Kingdom Hearts. It has its flaws. Some charming and hilarious. Other's terrible and awkward. In this case I'm speaking about the Voice acting. While at times there are indeed endearing moments in the series enough to jerk a few tears from your eye sockets no matter how manly you are, it can be hard to take seriously when the lines are butchered or lack emotion.

 

Some voice actors seem like they have more potentinal than what they've shown and others simply fall through. While I don't want to simply flat out insult any of them, because they tried, I will say that there are some that are just terrible. That's not an insult but the truth. We all have our own opinions so let's try not to go overboard and attack anyone.

 

My favorite character is Aqua. However I didn't like her voice too much. I mean, I can understand Aqua's personality. She's more of a girl that's focused on what she needs to do and is very reserved. She has strong emotions for both Ven and Terra but she shows it in subtlety where her emotions don't go overboard. With the exception of something bad happening to them. So I understand Aqua being soft spoken but firm but I was really disappointed with Aqua. She could have been far better.

 

So anyway, who are some of the worst voice actors in the series?

What are some of the bad voice acting moments from the voice actors that you consider good voice actors?

I hated Jason dohring as terra . he wasn't THAT bad but compared to his Japanese VA dohring put as much emotion into terra as a stone would have

Aqua's voice was really good in Japanese. One thing they included in Theatre mode of Birth by Sleep Final Mix was the ability to change the audio from English to Japanese, hopefully they keep this for the remix. I have to admit the English voices for Aqua and Terra weren't their best. But one thing that made me mad about 1.5 was that Axel's English voice was terrible, you could tell he did not care whatsoever.

Alyson Stoner. I loved Xion's Japanese voice, but her English one. Nope. Alyson doesn't give a performance, she just goes through each line and reads it in a monotone voice. I saw you act in Zack & Cody, what happened? Who drained you for all emotions?

Anyone remember that moment in KH3D in La Cite des Cloches? That part Sora said "That was so unfriendly!". 

 

Yeah, that part. Though you can really blame the translation team for that.

I will agree with Aqua and Terra sounding like they're bored and not very invested unless they get angry. Riku in KHFM sounded kinda...wierd with some of his lines mid-way through the game but after he got possessed and defeated he sounded much better, more like Riku from Re:CoM.

 

Personally for me however...I'm going to get a lot of shtick for this...I really didn't like any of Kairi's performances...I'm sorry but she fell into the same trap as Aqua: Bored. monotone delivery at times, annoying but only her KH1 voice and...I don't know...I just don't like her character...her voice included. Sorry.

I didn't like the sudden change of Sora's voice in KH3D when Haley Osment's voice became older, I mean such older voice should've been in KHII or III instead of KH3D.

Oh gosh I HATED her voice and clothes in KH2. I really wish they kept both her old VA  and clothes from KH1. Her voice was literally how I imagined Aerith to sound in Final Fantasy VII.

You're not alone. Well somewhat. Kair's voice in Kingdom Hearts I had a lot more energy because she's younger but at the same time, the way she read her lines at time were weird. Like she would fluxuate her voice around all the time. Go back to Kingdom Hearts I and listen to the scene where her and Sora are talking about the boat and worlds on the Island before they leave.

Lol it's Still him. He just went through Puberty even more since Kingdom Hearts. Though like Sora96 said, his voice had changed before then. Although I like Hailey, I hate him for going through puberty so fast.

But I agree, there are definitely a few speech flaws.... especially with the young protagonists. I love Riku, but there were a few parts in DDD where it sounded like he was reading a book. However, the funny thing is that the best voice work seems to come from the old characters. Ansem the Wise, Master Eraqus, Yen Sid, and Xehanort all have great voices speaking for them, so it's pretty much expected for their speeches to be great too. The villians of the game also have great voices. I love when Xigbar comes on the screen because there's just so much sarcasm and enthusiasm put into everything he says. I also like Vexen's voice because he really does sound like some wack mad scientist, Ansem SoD always sounds intimidating  despite the fact that he's had two different voice actors, and Xemnas....ooooooooooh Xemnas! Could you imagine a voice like that reading you a bed time story at night? It's so deep and soothing. No wonder Demyx was always going to sleep during his speeches in the manga. I probably would too.

There were no bad actors per say, but definitely bad moments. Willa Holland saying "Xehanort? What do you.." to Maleficent. Is my top worst VAing moment.

 

 

The rest of the time, she's actually good. If you watch her on TV, you'd see she definitely put some effort into Aqua to make her different. Most of the bad performances here are due to poor voice direction than just poor performance. Stoner seemingly tried to sound like a puppet, Dohring is supposed to be stoic, and Sora actually has an okay voice even when he's in "Young Sora" mode.

to me xemnas , eruqus , ansem the wise and xehanort have the best voices

kairis kh1 voice is eh at times too and xions scream was the only thing that bothered me...and yes im having a major brain fart and i can't remember who did who for the life of me.

I personally love Willa Holland as Aqua. My least favorite would... Probably be Xemnas. I just can't take him seriously at all when he speaks, but maybe that's just meant to be.
