Why do people want to play as Roxas and Riku so much?

It's because they're stories are a major part of the whole and nobody wants to experience the whole game in cutscenes. For Kingdom Hearts 3 to work multiple stories have to be told from different angles. Especially if they're bringing back everyone.

Because Riku has always been fun to play as, he added a new twist in CoM, and cool uses in DDD. And Roxas, we've had one game from him.Honestly, I'd like to be able to play as a bunch of different characters, similar to how it was done in BBS or Re:CoM

In DDD, Sora's character is disappointing and Riku shined the most. Sora is different without Donald and Goofy, their character dynamics reflect one another. Goofy being the wise one, Donald being rowdy, and Sora being the easygoing and untroubled.

 

Coming from a Riku fan, I enjoy playing Sora ONLY WITH Donald and Goofy. It represents how effective the unity is between Square Enix and Disney characters. Riku adds the raw power of darkness in the mix and that balances the Sora gang with their "this boat runs with happy faces" gimmick.

 

We can all relate with Sora's character and his personality attracts the new and younger fans. KH fans must not forget that there will always be goofy custscenes with the Sora gang and I enjoy each one of them. Roxas and Riku gives a more serious tone and it's for us original fans, that's why most of us wants them to be playable.

A huge game like Kingdom Hearts 3 MUST have multiple playable characters because multiple characters will partake in the final battle against MX. Theres no way Sora will defeat all 13 darknesses by-himself. He will have help from his friends and i really hope other characters are playable whether it be Riku, Kairi, Lea, Mickey, Ven, or Aqua

If anything, I want to play as mickey. Despite the fact that his gameplay was extremely simplistic in kh2 I found him more fun to play as than sora. I greatly enjoyed the Xaldin fight specifically because I got to play as Mickey so much. I remember I got like a third of Xaldin's health off before Sora died and then got him down to his last bit of health (since you need a combo finisher or magic to beat a boss in kh2 in case you don't remember)

The only games we've only been able to just play as Sora has been KH1 and re:Coded. Every other game has had other characters to play as. I still think that having a Sora-only story would be more of a novelty than having other characters in the mix.

I totally agree with playing in the multiple stories like in BBS. Square NEEDS to stick with that. It was probably one of the smartest things they could've done to the franchise. It brought the players attention more into the game cuz when you did all 3 stories, you had to piece it together for it to make sense. And that's what makes games great. And NO! sonic heroes was a disgrace of a game

the thing i meant about sonic heroes is the whole separate teams thing. in story mode you could play as team sonic, team dark, team rose, team etc. They could implement that system into KH3 by you could play as separate parties. As in like in one part of the game you play as Sora, donald and goofy as one party, and in another part you play as Riku and mickey, etc of parties including any arrangement of characters. you get my idea? But there might be a way where you dont have to play each party separately like you had to in BBS. Maybe there could be a way to weave it all together. That way it wouldn't be as much as a hassle for the players and would have a HUGE play time. Exactly what fans would want.
