Sora96 17,256 Posted July 2, 2014 Did you make this DC? We got this from Square Enix. I know it was exclusive to JP but really? Just taking advantage of the people that are unaware of FM and lying to their face. Just seems wrong. I still see nothing wrong with comparing to the version people ACTUALLY played. 1 HikariYami reacted to this

littleTSUBAME 483 Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) Why do the cutscenees have subtitles in the first place? Wouldn't it be easier to just get rid of them or just leave the option to switch them off like 3D did? I mean, what's the point? It's not like you would want to keep the audio down when playing at home compared to portable games. And if you play a game IN ENGLISH with ENGLISH screen texts and explanations and ENGLISH voice acting, WHY would you need ENGLISH subtitles? I do understand they include it in languages that are not dubbed... And if you miss a part, you can rematch the scene from theater mode anyway... My point is, they could have saved so much time and effort just deleting the subtitles instead of bothering even upgrading the text to a new HD font. I think it's good to have subs, because not everyone who play KH are native english speakers. Even though I would probably understand what they say without subs, it's still nicer to have them to make sure I really understand everything. Plus I don't have to concentrate as much. But, you're right, it'd be convenient if you could switch them off if you like. To the trailer: They actually fixed that duplicate-kairi -thing is BBS (around 2:17, behind Aqua)! : DD I was wondering if they'd do that... since I found it odd that kind of thing was left in the original game. Anyway, the game's gonna look veeeery pretty. Edited July 2, 2014 by littleTSUBAME

My point is, they could have saved so much time and effort just deleting the subtitles instead of bothering even upgrading the text to a new HD font. Because for example, here in Brazil, our first language is Portuguese, so it's easier for us to understand reading english than hearing (not my case), so the subtitles helps A LOT. In the original that always was sort of funny to me! 1 littleTSUBAME reacted to this
Skhyatze 165 Posted July 2, 2014 I still see nothing wrong with comparing to the version people ACTUALLY played. I would let it pass if they didn't act like 2FM never existed. It is almost like false advertisement. Plus what bout the Japanese gamers who never played 2FM? and anybody could play KH2FM if they wanted if they are willing to spend some money. 1 Terranort9406 reacted to this
Dr. Shimo 202 Posted July 2, 2014 I would let it pass if they didn't act like 2FM never existed. It is almost like false advertisement. Plus what bout the Japanese gamers who never played 2FM? and anybody could play KH2FM if they wanted if they are willing to spend some money. But it wasn't publicly advertised. Plus, most people who played KH2 here played the original. The way they are marketing it is, look, new costume for Sora for YOU to play as this time. I don't see it as them lying or false advertising. They are catering to the majority, because you can't please everybody, especially with the KH fanbase. Plus, it could've been slightly confusing for those who didn't play FM if they saw the FM stuff on the older side.

ChildOfTerra_FriendOfRiku 135 Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) Birth By Sleep looks BEAUTIFUL. Can't wait for 2.5!!!!! Hmm, not sure if anybody noticed. But the trailer repeat 3 times, is there a reason? The first time it's the comparison, with the line dividing HD and SD sliding back and forth. The second time it's all in HD. The third time it's all in SD. Fierce Deity Link 926 Posted July 3, 2014 Everything's so bright and shiny. I love it! Except for Oogie Boogie's bug mouth, in HD it's even creepier. ECH.
atheist123 583 Posted July 3, 2014 Hmm, not sure if anybody noticed. But the trailer repeat 3 times, is there a reason? It's to make the video "interactive". You can press SD or HD during the comparison and it switches to the same place further in the video. So if you were 1 minute into the comparison video and you pressed HD, it would skip forward 3 minutes or so and continue playing in the HD-only section of the video. Yuya Sakaki 5,212 Posted July 3, 2014 It just goes to show how much the graphics have improved. It's a lot brighter in HD! And as other people were saying here, it's good they fixed the double Kairi glitch in Birth by Sleep. I was actually waiting just to see if they fixed it But all in all, I'm so hyped for II.5! Peace! Master Keeper 687 Posted July 3, 2014 I really liked how they compared them, because a lot of other games make the comparison in an annoying way.

MarkXIIII 106 Posted July 7, 2014 (edited) Uhhh, you realize that not everyone who plays video games can hear, right? Deaf people play too. I mean I wouldn't mind having an option to turn them off, but they shouldn't be taken out entirely. Actually I was comparing it to movies. 1) movies in theaters have no subtitles because they assume that people who go to see the films in the US speak English. 2) movies on DVD include subtitles for the hearing impaired as optional feature. They don't assume everyone is deaf 3) it would only make sense to not include subtitles for the standard English version in English speaking areas but have optional subtitles for hearing impaired. 4) for countries whose language isn't english, it does make sense to include English captions. The only reason for those countries that do not get an own dub in their respective language is to include subtitles in those languages in order to enable the audiences to understand the story. It's comparable to Japanese movies with English subtitles then. 5) hence, my question: WHY would they include MANDATORY, not optional, subtitles for a game with ENlgish exclusive dub in an English speaking country? 6) for those who reiterate the 'not everyone speaks english theory" I meant the American Version for the US. Why have captions? Sure, not everyone here speaks English, a lot o people speak Spanish, and that's great, don't get me wrong, but in theaters they don't include captions either only for the unlikely event that ONE person not proficient enough PAYS for seeing an ENGLISH movie? 7) no hate, the best (and only) solution would be to have dubs in Japanese, Chinese, English, Spanish, French, German and Italian and Dutch all with optional captions.
