Yuya Sakaki 5,212 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) This is just a story I wrote for school once, and I just changed it up a bit to fit the Kingdom Hearts franchise. This is real The morning light seeped through the curtains landing on the face of the boy who was fast asleep. Upon hearing the sounds of birds chirping outside, his cerulean eyes fluttered open. He sat up and yawned. He noted the time on his desk clock, 10:31 A.M. After climbing out of bed, he ran his hands through his unruly, chestnut hair. Groggily he made his way to the bathroom to perform his daily morning rituals. Once done, he paced back to his room where he dressed himself in baggy black ¾ pants, a navy blue sleeveless shirt and a black short-sleeve hoodie. After combing his hair, or at least attempting to, he made his way down to the kitchen. Upon entering, Sora’s mother greeted her son, “Good morning, I made you your favourite, strawberry!” “Thanks mum!” Sora replied gratefully. He dug into the pancakes instantly and finished them in a span of seconds. His mother chuckled at his appetite and shook her head. The doorbell rang. That was strange. They weren’t expecting anyone. The mother paced toward the front door and opened it. Outside, she found nothing but a letter on the doormat. She picked it up and returned to the kitchen. “Who was it?” Sora asked as his mother returned. “There was no one there, but I found this.” She handed the letter to her son, which had ‘Sora’ written on the front in neat calligraphy. “That’s weird. I never get mail.” Curious, he opened the envelope to get to the letter inside. He pulled it out and unfolded it in anticipation. Upon reading the contents of the letter his eyes widened. The message read: Dear Sora, Meet me today at the beach at 2, please? There’s something that needs to be said… and make sure you’re alone. Love, your secret admirer. This could not be real. Who could this admirer be? Did she, at least he hoped it was a she, attend his school? What had to be said? He mentally slapped himself. As if that wasn’t obvious. The possibilities were endless. But secretly he was hoping for it to be that one girl in particular… Sora blushed at the thought and shook his head rapidly. No way would it be her. It was a far-off dream. He highly doubted it. His mother was reading over his shoulder and cracked a smile. Oh no. There was no way she was going to let him live this one down. “My, my, you look quite excited, Sora.” She teased. “Mum! I don’t even know who she is.” He replied, irritated. “Well don’t you want to find out?” She continued to press. “Well,” he pondered, putting a finger to his chin, “maybe. But it’s kinda weird, don’t you think? I mean, how does this girl know where I live?” “Maybe it’s someone you know. But regardless of whether you know them or not, you’re showing up. It’s rude to not show when invited.” His mother said firmly. Sora sighed. “Alright, I get it.” “Mothers know best!” She smiled. Her son reciprocated. It was funny. Sora definitely got his personality from his mother. He finished up and continued the rest of his day. In no time at all the fateful time arrived. Sora arrived at the beach at 2 P.M. sharp. He went and sat on the sand by the glistening crystal blue ocean. He stared out at the shimmering water. He loved the way the sun made the water sparkle like pixie dust. In his opinion, the best things were the sun, the sky and the ocean. He had been contemplating for the past few hours before he arrived. The situation still baffled him. Luckily, he would not have to ponder any longer. “I’m glad you came, Sora.” The sweet voice filled his ears. His heart skipped a beat. He knew that voice anywhere, but he still didn’t believe it was real. Sora felt as if he needed proof, so he peered up to his right. And there she was. The girl stood there with her hands folded at her front. Her slender figure was clad in a pink mini dress that ran down mid-thigh and lilac shoes. Her shoulder length auburn hair was lit up brilliantly by the sun. She really was beautiful. Her cerulean orbs locked on to Sora’s. “K-Kairi?” The brunet barely let out. She giggled. Cliché as it sounded, her angelic laughter was like music to his ears. “You’re really surprised?” She took a seat next to him and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. “B-but,” he stuttered, “wait you–you’re my secret admirer?!” He asked incredulously. Kairi’s face went as red as her hair. She slowly nodded in confirmation. Sora did a double take. “But wait, I thought you were with that other guy.” The auburn beauty frowned and averted her gaze and nodded. “Yeah I was. But no matter how much I tried to like him more than a friend, I just couldn’t. I got tired of waiting. I was selfish and rash. I can admit that now.” She gazed desperately into Sora’s eyes. “But now I’m facing my fears.” The brunet tilted his head. Kairi smiled. She loved it when he did that cute gesture. Sora asked, “But why me? I mean, you’re so popular at school. You could have any guy you wanted.” “Maybe, but they’re not you.” Kairi took her best friend’s hands into hers. “Sora…we’ve been best friends for so long, and you’re the only one who knows me inside out. Relationships are meant to be deep and meaningful.” Sora was stunned. Again, there was no way this was real. He opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off when Kairi snaked her arms tightly around his torso and lay her head against his shoulder. Sora snapped back to reality and embraced her with equivalent strength, laying his head on top of hers. Kairi shut her eyes and purred like a cat. Sora beamed. He whispered softly into her ear, “I love you.” Kairi pulled away slightly. She looked up at him and smiled sweetly, “I love you, too.” Sora tilted his head down and closed the gap between them as the sun shone down on the couple. This was real. So what did you think? Let me know! Constructive criticism is always welcome! Peace!
