The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted June 15, 2014 Hey everyone, how's it going? I want to take this moment to talk about Naughty Dog. As you all know, they are a very successful video gaming studio, you could say, one of the greats, as it's been around since the early 90's. Yes, for those who don't know much about Naughty Dog's history, they have been around since the 90's, as they were the ones that made the original Crash Bandicoot games. Later on, they went on to make the Jak and Daxter series, which is an amazing trilogy of games, and one you should all experience! It's on PS3 right now! Anyways, back to my point, Naughty Dog has greatly evolved over the past few years. If you look back at their impressive track record, they've gone from cartoonish games to more serious games, such games being the Uncharted series. Only recently did I get these games, and I truly must say that Naughty Dog has made leaps and bounds in their storytelling and gameplay tactics. I think that the Jak and Daxter games helped them experiment with story elements so that they could be able to move on to Uncharted on the PS3. For those who know what I mean, one subtle thing that I compare the Uncharted games to the Jak and Daxter games is the fact that you can toggle the subtitles on and off, an option that was also available in the Jak and Daxter trilogy. I know it's something relatively minor, but it's pretty cool, since they've carried over that slight system from the Jak and Daxter games. And well, the Uncharted games have an amazing story and very excellent gameplay, and right now I'm currently going through the third one, and I have to say that playing these games is like watching Indiana Jones movies since they have many things in common. Also, another game of Naughty Dog that impressed me is The Last Of Us. I played through Joel and Ellie's journey through the horrors of the Infected virus a few months back, and the way the story was told was amazing and heartbreaking, and everything was handled with finesse and care. It really goes to show you how much they've evolved since the 90's. Long story short, I'm very excited to see what the future holds for Naughty Dog. We already know that the fourth and possibly final installment of the Uncharted series will make it's way to PS4, but will there be a new property created by them? Will we see the birth of a new franchise from this acclaimed gaming studio? I think that somewhere down the line they'll introduce a new franchise to us, it's only a matter of time. So everyone, tell me, what do you think of Naughty Dog and the way it has evolved over the years? 1 teatimed reacted to this

Shulk 8,623 Posted June 15, 2014 You could try out their newer games, they're fantastic. If you're referring to the newer Naughty Dog games, I intend to try out Jak when I get a PS3 so I can get the HD collection. I'll try out an Uncharted demo or see if my library has it to see how that one is. The Last of Us doesn't really interest me much, though.

The Last of Us is mainly story driven, look at a lp at least, it's worth it

Uncharted and Jak and Daxter are firetrucking fantastic games. I have to say that Uncharted 2 and 3 blow the first one completely out of the water. The Last of Us was boring and overrated imo. The story and characters were interesting but the gameplay just wasn't interesting enough to keep me going.
Fenrissychros 167 Posted June 15, 2014 I have waited 8 years for them to continue Jak and Daxter, but they just let it die.... Insomniac continued doing Ratchet games, and Sucker Punch has sold the rights to Sanzaru, which will continue the franchise in a respectful way.... But Jak..... They just forgot about him...... I believe they just don't want to make too many games of one franchise. Up until now they created 4 games of all their franchises under Sony. Crash 1,2,3 and a racing Crash game. Jak 1,2,3 and a racing Jak game. And now they are making a 4th Uncharted. Edited June 15, 2014 by Sorarocks93
Caity 3,946 Posted June 15, 2014 I actually don't particularly favor Naughty Dog, as they have a habit of making a great series, and then abandoning it to make a new series, for those who loves the former, it's disappointing to know we most likely never will get another Crash game or Jak and Daxter game. It's for god knows what reason to only develop one game at a time, one franchise per console. They're changing that now, having put the Last of Us on the PS3 with Uncharted, but pretty sure everyone settled that we won't get any new additions to the classic games a lot of us grew up loving.
