Which character has saddest story?

Recommended Posts

When you look at Sora, Roxas and Ventus, you really wonder - whose story is the saddest? I know Xion definetly hits the spot, but what about those three? This question popped in my head when I watched three AMVs with same song but presenting different characters.

Roxas... somebody who was never supposed to exsist... and yet he did. In illusion of real life, he finds out the painful truth.

Ventus... poor little thing who seemed to have normal life. But, no his memories cover painful past and even now he has been sleeping for more than ten years.

Sora... key who will save them all... or not. Even though he's the hero of the series, he has been through many hardships.

So who of those three has the saddest story? And why?

I would have to go with Ventus. He was basically used as a puppet and had his heart extracted for dark purposes and betrayed by MX...then he was merely a shell for a while, and OMG the scene where Ventus' heart meets Sora in BBS is just so tear jerking and how he said the warmth of Sora's heart was nostalgic, etc! ;~; And he's been sleeping for a long time and it will be super emotional when he wakes up...

Personally I think Roxas has the saddest, followed by Ventus, followed by Sora.

Roxas - Was never meant to exist,as he has been told so many times. In his days in the Organization he created a special bond with Axel and Xion. However as the days went by for him in his short life as a Nobody everything started to go down hill. He kept having dreams and memories of Sora, not knowing who he was at the moment. Eventually he encounters Riku over and over again, telling him that he is Sora's nobody and that he has to return to him. That must've been a blow to Roxas himself, think about it. A complete stranger wants you to sacrifice your life and become one with another stranger so that stranger can wake up. Things got worse in the organization and he lost the only friends he had,Axel (in the end he had a hard time trusting him anymore) and Xion (she died infront of him). After those events he ends up being put inside a machine that makes him dream so he could live a fake life until Sora was ready to wake up. But with Namine,Axel,AND Diz all encountering him, telling him different versions of what he really is when in his mind he has a set of ideas,it must've been terrifying to him. Then there are Namine's words: "You were never meant to exist." That hit him hard. How dare they say he was never meant to exist? He was there wasn't he? That only confused him even more. In the end by the time he had realized what was going on,he knew he had no choice but to return with Sora. Even if he wanted to stay as he was,as his own person. In the end he had to accept the fact that he had to return,to which he eventually did. It was a bitter sweet ending though, because in the end the three of them (Axel,Roxas and Xion) were back together once more. (Xion and Roxas within Sora and Axel as Lea being around Sora) Just like Roxas had wished in his last diary entry.

"I'm going to set Kingdom Hearts free and find my way to Sora. I'm going to get Xion back. The three of us will have ice cream together again—I know it."

I just think that Roxas' story is the saddest due to the emotional rollercoster the poor kid must've gone through with everyone treating him more like a prize that needed to be returned to the shelf than a living being,

Ventus for sure. Roxa's kind of turns into a whiny emo in Days and becomes really irrational for the slightest of things, I did not feel sorry for him one bit. Ventus at least remained to have a happy go lucky attitude and for him to basically have his life taken away FORcEFULLY was even more sad (He really had no choice in fighting Vanitas) Roxas did have a choice to return to Sora even if people did sway him in that direction, so yeah Ventus

*cough cough vanitas even tho the novels aren't all that canon but still cough cough*

Roxas, I mean like after everything but then there's ven... It's between those two for me.

*cough cough with vanitas cough cough*

I actually don't think Ven's story is sad, necessarilly. I mean, he's the only one in the VTA trio who manages to succeed in his goal of traveling to different worlds and proving himself to be a hero. His going into a coma at the end is actually the culmination of that goal, and he can rest easy knowing he did what he set out to do.

I actually think Terra has the saddest story hands down.

I don't really think any of their stories above are quite tragic.  Especially when compared to others.

The fact Roxas wasn't meant to exist and had to join his original self, also occurred with Namine.  She was just more accepting of becoming whole.  He got irrational, whiny, and dismissive in Days.  Even his joining Sora and existing inside his heart (which personally seems merely added on for fan service so there's an excuse to extract him again and have him be his own character, I was quite content with the end of KH2 where he became complete with his original self, I feel no need for him to return but yano, fanservice) also occurs to Xion and Ven.

Sora's trials, he generally goes into happy and willing to do it.  He doesn't feel forced into being a hero, he's actually recklessly up for anything for the sake of helping others.

Ven's the closest to tragedy out of them (all of BBS protagonist's went through them), his heart has been splintered, he's been used, left for dead, his initially better option of a master was gonna kill him, he's been comatose for a decade

I think that Roxas has the saddest story in all of the KH series. He's born without any memories of his past life, unlike the other Nobodies (Some might argue about Xion, but she's not a Nobody, so she doesn't count). He slowly built very close friendships to two people, and in the end, it all shattered. He had to leave his best friend, and became worried that he'd never be able to see him again. He was forced to kill the other, without knowing all about her true self. When he tried to accomplish Xion's dying wish, he was stopped by Riku (Also led by Xion), and ultimately failed to do the one thing he wanted to accomplish. He lost his memory, and was given a "home" in the virtual world. He had friends, and lived an ordinary life. A happy one. Then, of course, the Organization ruins that. He's forced to fight his best friend twice. And, at the end of it all, he has to go back to Sora, meaning he loses his independence. He's easily got the saddest story.

I agree with this so much, Terra who was controlled selfishly by xehanort trying to get his own way. To this day terra has been struggling to free himself from xehanort and xehanort has been getting his own way. Terra also got forced into killing his own MASTER. Eraqus, out of all people. That's why i agree on the terra being the saddest part. As for sora, his story was never really "sad" Sora was never really sad in the games, he always built confidence and sacrificed himself many times for the happiness of others. Everybody is connected to sora's heart. So he couldnt be the saddest. Roxas just made it worse himself, he kinda acted whiny in days. Along with the beginning of Kingdom Hearts 2. Ventus and (sort of) aqua are the closest to the saddest. Only-thing is that nothing really bad happened to aqua, but what happened to terra and ventus is what makes it tragic, along with her sacrificing herself for terra-nort.

While I definitely like Ven more, Roxas is by far the more tragic.  In hs actual life, he was used to collect hearts and was told nothing.  He had his friends, but the organization did not care for him, and in the end, he was forced to hurt the one he cared about most.  Then in the life that was fabricated, he had his friends, yet he was continuously told that he should not exist and that he was nothing; and in the end of that, he had to submit to Sora.  The reason Ven is not as tragic is because of the happiness he always had, which doesn't lead me to believe he was always that sad.

But if we want to talk about the saddest stories, let's look at Xion and Namine.  *Heart slowly rips into a thousand pieces*

Terra will also more than likely be feeling some guilt with his MX/Terra hybrid's Nobody and Heartless have caused everyone, thinking it all started when he choose to go off from the Land of Departure setting everyone else's twisted journey of ill-fate in motion (with a push from MX like, but I reckon he'll blame himself, like the way Riku does).  His inability to take control and prevent him from causing harm will have made him feel like he failed his friends and others.  He has a bounty of events that would just shatter most people's self worth and spirit, and he hasn't been able to try and do anything to rectify it for over a decade.

I presume Terra's gonna die... Which would make his story all the ever more tragic

I personally dislike Terra and his story because it reminds me too much of this.

The stories are practically identical.

Well Nomura does like Star Wars, wouldn't surprise me if he took influence from it xD

Pretty much :D Seriously if you replace Anakin with Terra and Xehanort with the Emperor, they are literally the same story. It's so weird.

Probably Roxas, just because he's such an innocent character who is used and manipulated by the bad guys AND the good guys, and then gets to sit and watch some other guy who still has friends and such run around living what could have been his life. Ripped off all around. Xion didn't have to lose everything multiple times, and like Dave said, Ventus didn't fail as epically. Plus Ven still had friends when he went down.

We all know that the real victim here is the npc who is stuck putting up posters in Twilight Town for all of eternity.

At least the Bee lady gets some shade.

Totally Roxas because even though his and Ven's stories were similar at least Ven has his Trio to come back to plus if Ven died think of all the people upset but if Roxas' existence inside of Sora's soul were to cease no one would weep except Axel.
