Kaweebo 3,617 Posted June 7, 2014 Looks better to me. I'd prefer minimal improvement over having to play on an emulator. Particularly one like PCSX2 which is a bitch to get started for me.

Sora96 17,256 Posted June 7, 2014 Still looks a lot better than most HD remasters out. Look at Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection. Lol. 4 chi-blade, Neptune Vasilias, Sendou Aichi and 1 other reacted to this
Philip Ellwell 5,487 Posted June 7, 2014 That is so true. At least 1.5 vastly improved picture and everything.

I also find the original to have better color, even if there is minimal improvements... the real question is how can it take so long? Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix is the largest game out of all of them, but doesn't really require anything but upscaling and a little tweaking here and there. Because the game itself was far ahead of it's time but was held back by PS2's specs. I reckon they slacked off as most of the work was done beforehand, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 could've had a release date by September. xVentusx 51 Posted June 7, 2014 That Ps2 emulator he uses basically makes any Ps2 game in high quality. Play the game on PS2 and then PS3 then you'll be amazed 1 atheist123 reacted to this

Not to mention completely animating Coded and upscaling BBS. (And voicing IT'S new cutscenes)

I reckon they slacked off as most of the work was done beforehand, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 could've had a release date by September. I think that one of the problems was the Birth by Sleep goes from one thumbstick to two, and they actually had to go through and record each and every cutscene from Coded. Let me tell you now, doing stuff like that may look easy, but it is very far from easy (it can actually be quite difficult). In addition, for the English/European version, they also had to do the Final Episode (the Realm of Darkness) for BBS, the new enemies, palate swaps, etc. and translations of the Japanese scenes from KH2FM- again, that can take a lot of time to do correctly. Sora96 17,256 Posted June 7, 2014 I might also add they're using compressed footage. The uncompressed footage looks amazing. 1 Nathan Hatton reacted to this

Sora96 17,256 Posted June 7, 2014 Compressed footage for the original or the Remaster? The remaster. I'm assuming he recorded the original's footage himself and downloaded the trailer off YouTube. The HD 2.5 ReMIX, E3 2014 trailer looks great uncompressed. 1 Nathan Hatton reacted to this

Nathan Hatton 274 Posted June 7, 2014 Honestly I disagree with everyone saying the original looked better... I feel like there is much more clarity in the image in the 2.5 version. Also, I feel that the colors are more accurate as well. The original looks a little over saturated, especially when upscaled through PCSX2 1 Oli reacted to this
chi-blade 125 Posted June 7, 2014 Overall I'm not that impressed but at least it's better than the Dragonball HD remix as Sora mentioned 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
Sora96 17,256 Posted June 7, 2014 Overall I'm not that impressed but at least it's better than the Dragonball HD remix as Sora mentioned ReMIX is a title Square Enix made. Dragon Ball Z Budokai was simply "HD Collection".

peronmls 45 Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) I want you all to pause when the camera zooms in on soras eyes when he's about to fight it's second form. I couldn't believe how good it looked. Over 70 members working on just an HD collection. Textures are higher res and better this time since they had the source code still. Pcsx2 cannot have high res textures. jadentheman 72 Posted June 12, 2014 Yes the PCSX2 has a lower color bit. HD remaster will have textures 2x their size and a higher color bit. It makes a difference even if the resolution isn't rendered as high as PCSX2. But it's not too much of a visible difference to get too upset over either. As for BBS, He said that the fish face models have more polys but the fingers are still stuck together? I hope that changes in the final version. They have 6 months, then again it's already 95% done and too late 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this

King_Graham 135 Posted June 28, 2014 The original has bolder color, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's ideal. There is such a thing as color bleed or having too much color. This is coming from a guy who loves bold color. The REmix has better texture clarity and better skins on the Heartless. 1 DChiuch reacted to this
jadentheman 72 Posted June 28, 2014 Bold color if you like 16 bit color. Also dithering and the occasional 8 bit color texture too. HD remix will have 32bit color textures and the extra colors truly make the art style pop. HD deserves a higher color gamut it's one of the things that helps the picture become HD. Everything about the picture is higher in quality. Here is a 16bit vs 24 bit for color 16 24 Visible difference 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
