Music Top 10 Saddest Disney Songs

Recommended Posts

After making a topic, 10 Best Disney songs, I wanted to make another one. I'm not really sure why I decided for saddest disney songs, but I couldn't think of any other lists (one option was also top 10 romantic songs, but I'm not really romantic person so I don't really know what to call romantic). Anyways, this is again my opinion (everyone has it duh!), so don't be to harsh on it(like "oh, you have no good chioces"), just tell me what you really think. But I've be really glad if you'll recommmand me any other simmilar songs.

Mulan - Reflection

(Lea Salonga)

You usually hear sad songs in the middle or the end of the movie, not at the very start. It kinda surprised me to hear it so soon. Mulan's Reflection has a deep message of finding your true self, which she does later in the movie. This song could actually serve as an intro of Frozen's Let it go - first she asks herself who she is, then proudly sings of who she is.

I can so relate this song to Xion... that's also why it's so sad.

Peter Pan 2 - I'll try

(Jonatha Brooke)

As well as sad, song is little depressing as well. It makes you look deep about everything... Also Jesse McCartney's version (Ven's voice actor) is almost better than origanal one. Probably becuase it's the full version of it and it turns positive on the end.

Oliver and Company - Once upon a time in New York City

(Huey Luis)

I remember being really young when I watched Oliver and Company for the very first time. At first I really liked how it all started, cute kittens being taken by nice people... but no one took Oliver and I kept asking why. I really make me sad, seeing him all alone on the streets.

Hunchback of Notre Dame - God Help the Outcasts

(Heidi Mollenhauer)

When she's asking for help from the God, it really shows how desperate she is. Message is very clear.

The Princess and the Frog - Almost There

(Anika Noni Rose)

Whole song is pretty much positive, but it's the reprise that makes it so sad. Tiana works hard to make her dreams come true. When they don't her broken spirit sings this sad song.

Dumbo - Baby Mine

(Betty Noyes)

Despite being an old song, it brings tears to eyes the moment Dumbo sheds his. It's such a sad moment, with child being separated from his mother.

Frozen - Do You Want To Build a Snowman?

(Kristen Bell, Agatha Lee Monn and Katie Lopez)

Despite being sung by positive Anna, song brings Anna's inner sadness, wishing to be together with Elsa. Sadness of the song increases by each moment, with very emotional music in background. What makes song sad even more is that song begins and ends with the same sentance, only in the begining it's very cheerful and in the end it's full of sadness.

Fan-made Elsa's reply to it, hits the top of the sad song list.

Toy Story 2 - When She Loved Me

(Sarah McLachlan)

To be forgotten and ignored, after being loved and cared for makes such a emotional and sad song. Even when it feels like everything is going to the way it was, it just turns for much worse.

Jessie's sentance makes it even sadder: "You don't forget kids like Emily or Andy, but they forget you."

CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR TANGLED!!!!!!!

Tangled - Tear Heals

(Mandy Moore)

Nothing brings sadness more than a death of the ones you love. Rapunzel puts all of her pleads into a healing song, crying on the end when he begs her healing ability to bring back Eugene. It's becuase of two KH AMVs that Tear Heals became one of the saddest songs in my opinion.

Now I understand why my sister likes this movie so much.

Brother Bear - No Way Out

(Phil Collins)

The first Disney song that I cried while listening to it. Even though I knew what would happen (teacher read us a Brother Bear Disney picture-book), scene in the movie showed so much sadness. The pain of guilt, of things you can't change - the greatest of them all. Even when I only hear a song, scene appears in my eyes. Song starts slowly, then increses with so much sadness and when there's no more vocals, music still keeps the sadness.

It's again due to KH AMV that proved No Way Out deserves the top of my sad song list.

Agree with my list? If you do recommand me a song based on this list, if not make your own list or at least tell me which songs are even sadder than those.  ;) Also, tell what kind of list should I make next. (For now I'm only picturing Top 10 Villain Songs)
