Villi1997 1,832 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Step One: Watch cartoons like the DCAU, Young Justice, Spectacular Spiderman, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes etc Step Two: Read crossover story arcs from MARVEL and DC before i officially decide which characters i'm interested in Bonus Step: Read Some re-imaginings of superheroes, like Red Son, Dark Knight Returns, Kingdom Come, Batman - Year One Step Three: Think of what superhero i'm really interested in reading You are free to use this plan yourself Edited May 31, 2014 by Villi1997
Caity 3,946 Posted May 31, 2014 Would it not be easier, to simply read a few American comics and if you're into them, great, go read more, if you're not, don't force it 3 Silent, Jilly Shears and Queen Tery reacted to this

I reckon the use of the word "comic" when looking for a definition of Manga has more to do with trying to make it akin to a word Western Readers would recognize, the translation of the word manga is "Whimsical pictures" not "Japanese Comics".
