Isn't Sora Good Enough For You People?

Ever since Kingdom Hearts III was announced, I have been reading people say "I really want to play as (insert name)", for pretty much every character, except Sora.

Riku, Kairi, Mickey, Axel/Lea, Roxas, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, and even Xion. People seem so hyped for these other characters, but it appears that no one wants to join Sora, Donald, & Goofy for another adventure. Why?

I love all of the characters in the series, and since Kingdom Hearts II's release I have also enjoyed playing as other characters, but I think it's time to get back on track. No more side characters taking the spotlight. No more temporary party members. No more Dream Eaters in my party. No odd, experimental leveling system. No... more.. DISTRACTIONS!!!

I remember seeing the image below and absolutely loving it. Not just because it was new or in HD, but because what it represented. I wasn't going to be some new/side character on a solo journey. I was going to be Sora, and I was going on an adventure with my loyal buddies Donald & Goofy. No offense to the other characters, but I hope the only Keyblade wielder I play as, is this guy right here:

If i were ever to play KH3 (which won't happen since i don't plan to buy a PS4), Sora would be the one i would choose to play as.

While I think it would be cool to play as some other characters, or add other characters to your party, I think it's cool that we're finally getting back to the original three again. It feels right for them to be the main playable team for a numbered title, like they were in I and II.

Just bc people want to have a chance to play as others for awhile doesn't mean they don't also want to play as Sora too.I think it would be awesome to play Sora as the main but play cameo shots with others throughout the story . ( like Riku in KH2) .Maybe playing as Kairi or Lea in the beginning training to explain being level 1 again . Or fights like the inevitable Isa vs Lea showdown. I want to play as Lea and whoop some ass !

Like Flaming Lea suggested above, playing as Lea in a fight against Isa would make sense, be cool, and would be fun.

 

Sora isn't even one of my favorite characters, in fact, in KH2 and KH3D I started to dislike him, but he IS the main character, and I can accept that, so I don't mind playing as him at all. I just hope the new "Mature" Sora in KH3 lives up to his current description.

Well , I totally agree with you . It's always good to return to the old combo of Sora,Goofy and Donald . Add Mickey to that and it's gonna be perfect .

Yes and having his friends help in cameo shots makes sense since like he says " my friends are my power " .

We did play many characters if you think about it. This might finally lead to play multiple characters or mayby dlc?

And now we know that the stories will split is the chance bigger.

I want to play as Sora, but I'd like extended play as other characters too, especially since Riku is off doing his thing with Mickey and we've never gotten to play as Kairi. I'd like the bulk of play to be Sora, but I'd like to visit a few worlds as other people.

I'm with you one this one. As much as I like BBS and DDD, I don't like how those games focuses on multiple playable characters,but they were handheld games, so it wasn't really offensive. Like I've said already,I wouldn't mind playing as other characters as long as the game is focus around Sora,Donald and Goofy like KH2.

Just because the supporting characters were playable in previous games doesn't mean they should be playable here

 

Otherwise how can this game be the final battle between Sora and Xehanort if I can fight Xehanort with anyone?

 

 

the only other character that I can accept as second playable is Riku as he's more relevant to the story than the likes of Terra,Aqua and Ven

I always prefer secondary characters over main characters. Shadow over Sonic, Luigi over Mario, Zero over X, Ash over Pikachu (lel), Vanitas over every KH character ever, etc.

 

But Sora is still a great character, and I honestly wouldn't be too bummed if he was the only playable character in KHIII.

Not including any possible multiplayer options, I would like this game to be Sora specific. However, in the beginning of the game, it needs to explain why Sora is level 1. That or have you play as another character. The reason I bring this up is, every KH game so far has explained why. However, unless I'm mistaken, nothing happened at the end of DDD to cause Sora to be level 1.

Sora is just so kind-hearted, sweet, and caring. He is the most like able character in the franchise in my opinion. I would love to play as other characters, but Sora is my main man.

I think it'd be cool to play as other characters. But not for the whole game and no multiple storylines like in DDD or BBS. That would maybe be a bit too much, since KH3 is going to be epic anyway (hopefully).

But it'd be nice to play some fights as other characters, like (as Flaming Lea already said) Lea vs. Isa. And I'd like to play as Kairi, maybe in the tutorial. That'd be very cool.

But just some parts, because it would be very distracting if the playable character switched all the time.

Exactly! As I stated earlier, it needs to explain Sora being level one, so playing as Kairi during the tutorial would make perfect sense.

Agreed. Multiple playable characters work for the side stories but the main games need to be Sora only with the exception of certain moments like in KH2 where you played as Roxas and Riku.

I'm completely fine with only Sora being playable in KH3's story, but I probably won't even touch him in the multiplayer mode that Nomura will more than likely have planned for KH3.

My sentiments exactly. We play so much of him, it would be good to take a break from playing him in multiplayer. I just hope it includes multiplayer.

I'm seriously pulling for a multiplayer. KH3 won't age well without it if you ask me. Yes, I'll enjoy the story, but I can't continuously enjoy it alone. Multiplayer is almost extremely necessary by this point.
