Fool. Just about to end my freshman year in a few weeks. It's pretty cool. I've already made a couple of short films, work on a lot of others, and I'll be shooting a documentary tomorrow. There's always parties I hear,  but I never go. Not interested in that sort of thing.

Depends if you're in a dorm or still crashing at your parent's

If you're in a dorm there's a ton more freedom, along with no one really making sure you're doing your work so it can backfire quickly if all you do is party

Living with your parents it's just like high school except now you're actually paying the school to sit around bored in class

Well I'm in my freshman year, and what I can tell you is that you should take advantage of it :)

You're only a freshman once, and people know that. The classes might be a bit more difficult, but it's what you like at least (So no Maths for me xD)

If you go to a dorm, you'll get more experience if you never made home chores. Living on a place of your own without your parents is a new experience, so make sure you learn from it.

And if you like parties, then this is the year for you. There are so many parties for freshmans, you should take advantage of it. But if you don't like parties... Then... firetruck xD

Make sure you make friends with the right people, trust me. Some people might be nice at first, but they can become huge douches after some time.

And make sure you do all of the assesments. Believe me, you don't want to have even 1 assesment behind.

Pay attention to all of the classes, no matter how boring the materia, the professor, etc. The teachers have valuable information that the textbooks don't give.

Don't fall into the "sleep" trap. Sleep well everyday so that you can go to every class.

Socialize with your classmates. They are your classmates for the rest of college, so you don't want to go around and make enemies :)

If you have time for extracurricular activities, then go for it. You have to be absolutely sure that they don't compromise your studies.

Pay extra attention to the money you use. You don't want to go around and waste money, so that you'll have to ask your parents for more during the week. When you receive money, put some of that money somewhere safe for emergencies. That helped me a lot xD

If you take the bus/train or whatever to college, make sure you got the schedules memorized. Bring a sheet with the schedules with you so that you won't forget.

Coffee is your best partner. Just don't drink too much!

If you don't like to drink alcohol, then don't let yourself get pressured if someone wants you to drink alcohol. Just order a coke or something.

If you do like alcohol, drink a small amount of what you want. If you have classes in the next morning, you don't want to suffer through class with a hangover!

And the most important thing:

Work first, then fun.

If you have fun first instead of studying, then you're firetrucked. Really.

That's what I can say to you for now xD

Have fun in your freshman year, and good luck ^^

Freshman year is the year to experiment and find out you really are

Just keep three things in mind while you're at school.

1. You're paying for it so try not to firetruck up.

2. Don't let anyone pressure you into any situation or act that you are uncomfortable with.

3.Get involved and surround yourself with the right crowd of people. Networking is one of the most important things you can do at college. It opens a lot of doorways not only for the next four or five years but for after school.

That's all I hear about college. You'd think it's nothing but with how little a lot of college kids talk about every other aspect in school.
