Tails 6,692 Posted April 30, 2014 (edited) So, a lot of people have been speculating that since KH BBS Final Mix is coming to the PS3 (along with KH2FM and Re: Coded in the form of cutscenes) it will have some form of online multiplayer. I have to say, I honestly don't think that this will likely happen. And I have my reasons for why I don't think it will happen which I will share with you all. Okay, for one, have there been any other remasters that have gotten online multiplayer? None that i can think of. Not even Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 HD, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD, and Rachet & Clank Up Your Arsenal HD. Which are all games centered around multiplayer. Which leaves me to believe that it will be no different with KH BBS Final Mix HD. Plus, I don't think that Square will be willing to put up and maintain online serves for a game that has been out for about 5 years now. Do they see any benefit? I don't think so. I mean, sure it is possible to play online multiplayer with the Ad-hoc party for the PS3 but still. Don't get me wrong, I am really hopeful that it does have online but I don't think Square will put in the extra effort just to do so. Now secondly, like I said before I don't think Square would put the effort into having online since that would require to maintain online servers. They would also have to use a lot more resources into creating online servers as well as keeping it up at all times. Which is another reason why i don't think that BBS Final Mix HD will feature online multiplayer. Because why put more money into a game that was out 5 years ago instead of into newer projects? That seems like a logical reason why Square won't put multiplayer into BBS FM HD. Now don't get me wrong, I am not trying to bring down any hope onto having online multiplayer in BBS FM HD, I'm just pointing out good reasons for why it probably won't really happen. I just thought I'd post my own thoughts and reasons since this is all in my own opinion. Edited April 30, 2014 by Tails

I own the Ratchet & Clank HD Collection, and I assure you, Up Your Arsenal DOES have online multiplayer with it. I've played it several times. That being said, you are correct that there are very few HD collections which include multiplayer. Despite this, I still think SE is gonna do something special for the Mirage Arena, whether its just having local play or not.
Isamu Kuno 2,512 Posted April 30, 2014 (edited) Be that as it may, Square has exspressed interest in online multi-player for the series in general and Mirage Arena would be the perfect catalyst. Edited April 30, 2014 by Isamu_Kuno

I just thought I'd post my own thoughts and reasons since this is all in my own opinion. If that's the case, why would they even bother making HD remakes of KH games that came out 10 YEARS AGO in the first place? Also, you listed the same reason twice. I don't take any stock in the past patterns argument, each of those decisions were just that: DECISIONS. And those decisions were made within the scope of their own games, not because some other game franchise made the same decision. Sure there's a pattern, but that guarantees nothing. There is just as much chance of Square adding online multiplayer to BbS FM HD as there is of them not adding it. I'd rather just wait and see. Playing the speculation game always ends up upsetting somebody, so I try not to be as upfront about it unless it's part of the conversation.
HarLea Quinn 26,501 Posted April 30, 2014 I'd say it's a 50/50 chance bc I like to be optimistic. You never know . Most thought KH would never come to the Xbox One.
MasterWorlock 10 Posted April 30, 2014 Peace Walker HD and R&C HD both have online support
NO_HEART_XIII 312 Posted April 30, 2014 Ratchet & Clank: UYA does have online, so you're wrong there. Basically everything that makes BBSFM a FM is in the Mirage Arena, so I highly doubt they'll take it out. They are taking their sweet time, so hopefully they aren't taking the online away. They better be doing something productive.

Raphael Millon 87 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) MGS Peace Walker had. Ratchet and Clank had. So I think (and hope) BBS will have too. Edited May 1, 2014 by Raphael Millon

UYA HD has been up for almost two years online, me and the PS2 players might get on it maybe every two weeks or so. No one would play Budokai 3, no one plays UYA either, I suppose Sony would shut down the servers if they ever realized they were up, I'm pretty Peace Walker had online. BBS online would have about 100x as many players as UYA or Budokai 3 would potentially have. Your reasoning and evidence/research is laughable and you must have typed this up in five minutes. What do DBZ, UYA, and MGS have to do with KH or SE? Edited May 3, 2014 by Drones
