Nintendo Purchase Advice

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I'm going to try to keep this short. Basically I'm interested in purchasing both a Nintendo 3DS and Wii U (though not at the same time), but I don't want to purchase them if their next iteration is going to be announced in the next year or two. I know the Wii U kind of JUST came out, but it's doing so poorly and enough rumors on the internet indicate a new Nintendo home console coming soon. I don't tend to listen to rumors, but I also don't want to make a bad purchase y'know? In your all's opinions, do you think Nintendo will release a new handheld and/or home console within the next year or two?

1Get the 3DS,delay the Wii U until later

2no,no new console is coming soon those rumors are lies

3it's been 1 year and a half since the Wii U came out....they won't ditch it after such a short amount of time...heck the Ps3 had a miserable 1 year and a half yet it managed to pull through after all so there is still a chance

I highly doubt we'll see any new systems from Nintendo within the next few years. As for the Wii U doing poorly, it's starting to really shape up. Everyone used to say the 3DS was doomed to fail, and that it had no games, and now it's incredibly popular. The Wii U seems to be in that direction, even if it won't be quite as popular as the 3DS. I could easily recommend both systems, since both are really fun, and have great libraries (Especially the 3DS, while the Wii U's is starting to really improve). You can download a ton of older Nintendo games on both of them too (NES, GB, and GBC for 3DS, while Wii U has NES, SNES, and GBA), which is really nice. Not to mention both are backwards compatible with the systems from the generation before them.

Get a 3DS XL and wait to see what the Wii U is going to be like a while from now. There is an immense library of excellent games on the 3DS. (If you don't like 3D, you can turn it off. No need to get the cheap (and not monetarily. It's hardly any cheaper then an XL. I mean build quality.) 2DS)

The 3DS is doing very well and I doubt Nintendo is going to retire it anytime soon.

The 2ds is actually really good. Its the most comfortable portable system I've ever held.

Some would disagree. I for one find that it cramps my hands something terrible.

And comfort aside, with the 2DS you're taking away the clamshell design that protects the screen, you're taking away portability, you're taking away a solid build (the 2DS is lighter, and far more feeble feeling then a regular 3DS or 3DS XL) and you're taking away having the option of 3D. It's only like, what? 40 dollars cheaper? And for that you get a far inferior system.

If you're saving to get a system, you have time to save up the few extra dollars to get the better version. If you don't like 3D, you can disable the function entirely on a 3DS or 3DS XL by either turning the slider off or disabling it with parental controls.

I think they're on par. I usually keep my 3ds in my backpack anyways, so a 2ds would be fine with that. I get loads of hand cramps from my 3ds, but my friends 2ds was extremely comfortable in my hands. And the solid build was what the 2ds was meant for. It was meant to be able to take a beating since its aimed towards children.

i say you get a 3DS (but probably a 2DS instead if you dont care about 3D) and pokemon x or y and kid icarus uprising and if you want KH:DDD with it. as for the wii u, if you want to your can buy it but i wont be surprized if they announce a new console at say E3 2016-2017. i think the only reason the 3DS pulled through was becouse it barely had competition. yes it had the PS Vita but that was very unpopular. as for the wii u it has the Xbox One and PS4 which are incredibly succesfull. im not saying that the wii u will flop. (far from it) i think it will do reasonable well but come last in the 8th gen console race. but understand that if you dont get a Wii U then you wont be able to experience mario kart 8, zelda Wii U, and most importantly SSB4. if i were you id buy it but just be aware that Nintendo might announce a new console in like 2-3 years. i wish they wouldent tho. i REALLY hope im wrong and the Wii U lasts as long as the Xbox One and PS4 and if that happens, i will gladly eat my foot. (medaforicly)

I'd recommend the 3DS for now. It has an extremely wide library of amazing games.  The Wii U is slowly building it's library, all just as amazing as the 3DS titles, and although I personally enjoy it, it's not a good choice at this point and time.

3DS....

Hang on, you don't have 3DS?

O.O Get 3DS, massive library of games (including KH:DDD). Portability, and other goodies.

I don't know much about Wii U though, so you have to take account to the others opinions and yours as well.

Get a Nintendo 3DS XL; it does feel kinda wonky and heavy to hold though when you play it for a large amount of time. I think the 3DS is more popular than the Wii U in some areas though and probably has the most sales (but that's just what I remember reading not too long ago). Plus, it has Pokemon X and Y, Link Between Worlds, and other nice games, like a new RPG by Atlus (who makes Persona games) just released Conception II for it and it has a great story line, dungeons, and dating system in it like the Persona games. Idk, it's more about your preference and what kind of games you like to buy. Hope you pick the right one!
