Between the 2 I would rather see a fighting game probably, but I'd be happier with a wireless enabled mirage arena/place like that in KH3, where you can also do multiplayer online and offline.  I don't really feel the need for a spin off.

I'm sure Disney would mean fighting each other.  Like good guy on good guy, Mickey V Goofy for example, as their most recognized icons it would probably be assumed to be bad imagery to have them fighting each other.  It's from an Interview with Nomura that Dissidia originally was gonna be a KH game and it was decided against for that reason.

"We made a game where characters from various FF games got together to battle, Dissidia, but that was a project we were originally thinking of using for KH. However, deciding it would be a bad idea to make Disney characters fight each other, it never materialized for KH and ended up shifting to FF

 

"[Org XIII] These guys were still connected to Disney, but we thought it would be okay [to use in the battle mission mode in Days) because they were original KH characters."

 

The way it's said it's like they needed permission from Disney, who owns all the character rights to everyone in KH bar FF characters.

you fight beast, herc, genie, good pete, tron, and zack, cloud, and aruon fight herc and you fight all the good FF characters and you can fight these guys with summons

Hey, if Mario can fight Link in Smash Bros. for no reason, I'm sure Mickey fighting Goofy can happen for no reason. It's not like they're in brutal pain or anything. Besides, the could do the same thing they did for Herc: make it a competition. The characters fight for competition. Like, before a battle, they could mention that fact in their intro and say something along the lines of "No hard feelings, Goof!". Or not use any of the non-original KH characters at all. Yes, no Disney characters around would make it feel really odd and a little empty, but if that's what it takes to get an intense action KH fighting game, then it's a great compromise.

Well, it would be interesting to see both a fighting game and a Theaterhythm for the Kingdom Hearts series.  I mean think about it, it would benefit a wide variety of fans! For those who don't like fighting games, they can get into the Theaterhythm game, so they could gracefully play along with tunes from the series.  For those who aren't into music games, a fighting game would be perfect, since the frantic and chaotic fighting styles of the characters would definitely have a home in the fighting game genre.  But seeing as though Dissidia was supposed to be a KH fighting game, but wasn't made because Disney wouldn't allow their characters fighting each other, well, I don't think a fighting KH game will be made, unless Nomura decides to put only the Final Fantasy and original characters as the roster.  It's a possible possibility.
