Enjoy Who You Are And Be Proud Of It! :D

Hey there everyone, how's it going?  You know, I've always heard the phrase: "I wish I was normal." being thrown around.  When I hear this phrase, I just stop and look at whoever is saying it and I shake my head.  In all honesty, what good is being normal?  Normal is overrated and boring!  Take myself for instance.  I am a crazy, oftentimes infantile, childish, fun loving guy that loves video games, anime, and I have no problem with these things.  I used to be shy and closed in, afraid of what people would think of me, afraid of being laughed at for liking Star Wars, Power Rangers and other such things.  But thanks to my best friends, family, my dear Inori, and most importantly, God, I learned to embrace all the crazyness of my insane self, and I learned to roll with it.

If people tell you that you should be normal, you should not abide by what people say!  If you love anime, don't be ashamed and declare your love for it!  If you love video games, brag about your achievements and about how you know everything about the games you play, without caring what people say.  If you love just hanging loose for the fun of it, do so with pride.  Raise your arms in the air, rock out to your favorite songs, make up your own dance moves, make up your own words, make up whatever suits your personality, because in the end, that creativity and insanity is what makes you special.  If everyone were to be normal, life would be boring, monotonous and overall, well, meh.  But it's thanks to such a diverse range of people that the world can keep on going.  So for those who are like me, who embrace their crazyness, I salute you, and for those who have yet to accept it, don't be shy and declare who you really are to the world! :D

You know, it's all really simple really.  Just be yourself, love yourself for who you are, and make sure that the only person's opinion about yourself that matters is your own.  So yeah, thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope I was able to make people smile, and for those who are as crazy as I am, I hope I got you fist pumping, or at least raising your arms in the air!  Haha, anyways, good night, take care of yourselves, God bless you all, and never stop being yourself!  Golden out! :)

I'd make a reference to Persona 4, but I'd like to make this somewhat serious. I've grown up with not a lot of friends, mainly because of my interests. Part of me kinda wanted to change who I was, just so I could fit in. But I didn't. Because I would've hated that. I didn't want to play sports. I wanted to watch anime. I didn't want to play CoD. I wanted to play TF2. If I completely changed myself, I'd never appreciate myself.

I'm also accepting of new things about myself all the time. For example, I recently came to the realization that I'm bisexual. I thought that even more people would hate me, but you know what? They didn't mind. They supported it. I came to accept myself and, as a result, enjoyed my life a little more by flushing my worries down the drain.

So all in all, just look to the title of this thread. Enjoy who you are. Be proud of it.

I think it's depressing how many people equate "normal" to "boring" or "lacking any interests," and honestly, threads like this just reinforce that unfortunate mindset.

We need to be ourselves, but we also need to know the difference between being unashamed of your interests, and annoying others with the means you express those interests.  Being passionate about something isn't the same as wearing your fandom on your sleeve.  It also doesn't mean completely tuning out other peoples' opinions of you because, like it or not, being able to gauge how you come across to others is critical for just being able to function in a society.  I'd advise against wearing self-admitted childishness and "insanity" as a badge of honor.

I don't mean to trample on anything, I'd just like to warn you of the dark side of abiding by this mindset, things I wish I had known that would've made my previous years less regretful.

Whhhattt is normal?

Regardless of the thought process or content, gotta' love your optimistic incite.

Your life is what you make of it, happiness comes from within.  Even if your most embarrassing "interests" (or whatever it may be) are frowned upon, you should take pride in what you enjoy.  (:  Not saying you have to excessively rub it all in everyone's face either, but definitely be proud of who you are.
