What I think would make Kingdom Hearts III obliviously awesome:

Being able to do certain boss fights from previous games as flashbacks but with the addition of Reaction Commands. Sora vs. Riku was pretty epic in Kingdom Hearts but just imagine how awesome it would have been if they did some crazy moves like the Sora vs. Roxas fight or Roxas vs. Axel.

Obliviously awesome? Meaning it's not aware of its own awesomeness? I guess we can remove the game's (non-existent) self awareness and that will do the trick.

 

However if we wanted to make it obviously awesome then your idea might be a step in the right direction.

Why: we are capable of remembering what happened in the other games without a flash back.

I don't like flashbacks with interaction, I mean it takes a lot away from the game... look at it this way if i play KHIII and flashback of Riku and Sora and with all the reaction commands, now I think to myself, wait that didn't happen when I played KH1, so is this what the true battle really looked like? I could never really get into the Mangas for that reason. The events in the manga are different in the game, but still the same story... so which one is right, ya know? What is the true story? I know it's just a game, but I look into it a little more than that... It's also continuity, think of it this way, do you want to know why Sora doesn't act all epic and flips and a hundred hit air combo in the cut scenes? remeber when he kills the nobody and shadows in one hit and not a combo? (It would be expensive, but that's not all...) To match up with the player... what if the player didn't equip the extended combo, or focuses on only ground... or only air, because that is how they play, they don't want to see Sora doing something they won't do. It's long winded and a little off the idea, but you see what I mean?
