Aang 649 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Hello everyone! Are you aware of what KOTOR is? If not, I'll inform you. It is, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic! And epic RPG game made over a decade ago. Anyhow, I wanted to let you know it is one of my favorite games of all time and that myself, along with seven others are currently remastering the game! We are not rebuilding the game from scratch, we are simply updating the textures, graphics, models, maps, and adding in new content. Q&A How are we funding the game? We're not! We're just dedicating our off-time using the same developmental software that the original developers used to make this game. When will the game release? We are aiming for late 2014. January of 2015 at the very latest. What platforms will this release on? PC, Mac, and Linux. Will this be released on consoles? That is a possibility. If it were, it would be a simple USB file, that you would plug into your console. Will you make a KOTOR II Remaster? The team and I are more than willing to, it simply depends on the success of KOTOR: Remaster. We don't want to spend a year working on something people don't want. What new planets will there be? The new planets are strictly for Multiplayer, and co-op alone. There will be Djun, Felucia, and three more we don't want to spoil! Where can I donate? Disney has restricted us from accepting any money for the game whatsoever. So, I'm afraid all you can do to support is to spread the word! Here is an article from our website: After a decade upon release, KOTOR still remains near flawless. Although there were some issues, and many left out features that couldn't be implemented into the game. But with modern technology, the possibilities are endless. We here at FFG saw this, and took advantage of this opportunity. With copyright laws, we are not aloud to make any profits off of the game whatsoever. So, our only motivation being you- the fans! Some new features: 1) Interactive Co-op campaign mode. 2) Over five competitive online game modes with up to 32 players per server. 3) An open world online game mode. 4) Five additional planets. 5) COMPLETELY remastered in fine 1080P HD 6) Updated textures, models, and more. 7) COMPLETELY new EXP system. 8) Absolutely FREE! Got any questions? Ask below and I will answer! We're not exclusive, we're open to any/all questions. -Aang Edited April 2, 2014 by Aang 5 Dark Goddess, The Transcendent Key, Setrex and 2 others reacted to this

Aang 649 Posted April 2, 2014 I would have thought the PC version would already be in HD. It all really depends on your settings. The highest it will go is in 720P, which is standardized HD. But we're talking glorious 1080P!

I've got no issue upscaling 720p to 1080p for video games. Do it all the time for PS3.
Aang 649 Posted April 2, 2014 I'm all for it! It's good to see some support behind it. A Remake of KOTOR II is up to the popularity of this one.
Sora96 17,256 Posted April 2, 2014 Technically you aren't remaking it though, so this is misleading.
Aang 649 Posted April 2, 2014 I've got no issue upscaling 720p to 1080p for video games. Do it all the time for PS3. But all in all, you should try it. I'm not trying to be one of those annoying salesmen. I'm just a fan looking to please myself, and others. I really believe you, and all Star Wars and RPG fans would find it most interesting, and refreshing. Technically you aren't remaking it though, so this is misleading. We are remaking the combat system, updating the models, graphics, textures, and implementing new content.

Aang 649 Posted April 2, 2014 I have a question, 'Why should I give a care? I don't care much for Star Wars.' Well, for one, this game was the game of the year in 2003. It has amazing RPG elements, and anyone who plays it, will get hooked on it. It by far is one of the best experiences I've had when it has come to gaming. It has a great player decision based story line. The voice acting is superb, and you don't have to be a Star Wars fan to really understand it. It serves as an interesting game for new players, and old members of the Star Wars universe. 1 xBerserkerSaix07x reacted to this
WakingDawn96 1,166 Posted April 3, 2014 Okay, but what is so great for me to play it? I mean I get that it was a great game for you, but that doesn't mean that everybody is going to like it. I mean I didn't like your show, and millions of people liked it. So, what key element does it have to draw me into it? Kingdom Hearts had the element of being funny and being with Disney characters, both of which I loved. Pokemon had the element of great creatures and getting to just feel free and battle with creatures that you loved. Lion King has the element of being funny and showed that loved ones always stay with us at heart. What type of element does this game have for me to play it? The game gives you the ability to chose the way you respond to others in the game. You have the ability to chose between good, and evil. You make your decisions, and shape the overall outcome of the game. The game has a mix of comedy, action, adventure, and great story telling. It may be old, and at first not too appealing. But once you get your ship, and the ability to go anywhere, and do anything that's amazing. Trust me, it's a great one.
WakingDawn96 1,166 Posted April 3, 2014 If I want to be good or evil, I can just play Infamous. What makes this good or evil thing different than Infamous? And how much game experience do you need to play this game? Like if I were a new player how hard would this game be to me?
Aang 649 Posted April 3, 2014 If I want to be good or evil, I can just play Infamous. What makes this good or evil thing different than Infamous? And how much game experience do you need to play this game? Like if I were a new player how hard would this game be to me? Well, when you encounter a conversation, mission, or side quest, you usually have around six different replies that you can chose. For example, there are poor people infected with a disease. They are helpless, and are locked away from the rest of the village to avoid infection. The desease serum needed to cure them is extremely rare. While your doing your main missions, you might come across the serum. The enemy military desperately needs that serum for some of there soldiers. They are willing to pay tons for it. You could either return it to the poor folks, cure them, and in result gain "Light Side Points" and that warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Or you can gain tons of money, knowing your leaving the helpless to die alone, and the enemy to thrive. You don't need a ton of experience to play the game. It has it's challenges, but in general you do not need to know much about the Star Wars universe to understand, or play it.

WakingDawn96 1,166 Posted April 3, 2014 So you are telling me that it is basically the Star Wars version of Infamous?
Dark Goddess 13 Posted April 3, 2014 Sounds great. Always loved KOTOR and KOTOR II, but unfortunately, my current PC can't play either of them.

Aang 649 Posted April 3, 2014 Sounds great. Always loved KOTOR and KOTOR II, but unfortunately, my current PC can't play either of them. That is unfortunate to hear. I hope it eventually will. The game will not have high system requirements, I can assure you that. In due time, I can provide you with the system requirements. But I can't provide the exact amount currently. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted April 4, 2014 You know, this is just like a certain team of passionate gamers who remade the first Half Life game, and it took them a while to do so, and they ended up with success. I had heard about KOTOR, it's from Bioware, one of the top names in Western RPG's, and well, I've never got to play it, but I hope to do so one day! I hope I could get to play it on my PS3 if possible! I really hope you succeed in making this Remaster, because now I'm looking forward for you guys to be interviewed by Game Informer about how you went about making this remaster, and when I read the article in the near future, I'll be like: "Heck yes, I know this guy!" Good luck my brother! 1 Aang reacted to this

Please note, that there aren't any trophies, or anything of that matter 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
Aang 649 Posted April 8, 2014 If you end up doing KOTOR 2 will you add in the restored content mod? We will not slap someone else's content on and call it ours. We will implement something just like it, but in our own, original way.
