Dio Brando 5,810 Posted March 29, 2014 Don't think of it as Kairi's theme and Kairi's theme alone. It isn't so much an indicator of Kairi as it is an indicator of her presence and meaning within the story, and what that means to the characters. It's like how in FFIX, the Melodies of Life tune appears many times, and each time it has a different meaning depending on how its applied to the scene. Kairi's musical theme gets remixed a lot because Kairi's literary theme appears more than a few times in different ways and forms. Melodies of Life isn't necessarily related to a character as it's sort of like one of the main themes of the game not just for Zidane and Garnet I like Kairi's themes, but honestly it kinda suffers from the same issue as One Winged Angel....getting spammed a LOT
dAlAzEr 46 Posted March 29, 2014 Would you rather have three different themes for Kairi, or listen to the same flipping theme over and over again? 1 Caity reacted to this

Caity 3,946 Posted March 29, 2014 I don't really see the problem in her having 3 themes considering Jav's point and dAIAzEr. It's not something I've sat around and thought about for ages. They give context to the situation and the emotion you should be feeling. With Sora, since you play as him, the context is given by the surrounding music for the worlds, people and battles. Slotting a theme in for the sake of him having a theme when (as you play as him) anywhere you move you get music based on the context of where he is or what's happened. With Riku in KH1 you pretty much see him in the darker tones since he's going into the darkness, but having a sinister theme for him would make it harder to sympathize with him. CloakedSchemerX 1,011 Posted March 29, 2014 Well actually it's more than just Kairi being their driving force anymore since they're together again. It's more like everyone they know that are the driving forces of their actions now(based on Sora's most popular line in KH3D "My friends are my power").Kairi is the ultimate driving force in Kingdom Hearts . That changes in later games, but she still is for the first.
Xiro 3,468 Posted March 29, 2014 Kairi doesn't need three themes. She needs seven /shot This may be a bit of a stretch, but if you're asking why Kairi has three variations of her theme, you could also ask: Why does Xemnas have four battle tracks (with one of them being split into three parts to boot)? It's all about context. Jav and Dave explained it much better than I can. Also, perhaps you could think of them as three variations of the theme of Kairi, as opposed to three different themes. 1 Kittenz reacted to this

『R』 570 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Well...that's Kairi's fault! For being so dang attractive. And plus we'll just have Yoko make Riku and Sora two more themes. But then there's going to be a thread about Namine having only one theme.... Edited April 2, 2014 by Riku=D

Well Xemnas is a multi-tier boss and like most RPGs you gotta give the last battles in the game some varied tracks for each phase like the last battle with Sephiroth at the northern crater in FFVII....etc Kairi on the other hand is one character and she isn't a boss battle so this comparison doesn't really relate much to the situation
