Cosplay Design Advice

Sooooo I've decided to make a super legit White Mage costume.  Because White Mages and Comic Con.

 

Buuut I'm having a hard time with the design because there are too many awesome things to choose from, and I can't decide which features to keep.  So I figured that I knew this place full of videogame nerds who could help me to decide.

 

Here's a concept sketch of some of my ideas.

My main issue is that I really like the idea of the chainmail and the tie-up-the-side features in combination with that red Kairi-esque hood, but I also have this thing for capes.  I really like how the short cape would look, but I also really like the other stuff, which would be covered by a cape, and the button on hood wouldn't work very well / would look dumb if there was a cape involved.

 

I guess I could do all of it, and just choose to wear either the cape or the hood depending on what I feel like at the time?

Would doing all of it be overkill and take away from the costumes overall awesome?

If I do the hood instead of the cape, will people even get that it's supposed to be a white mage for lack of whiteness?

And would you use red leggings or brown leggings? Too much red?

 

I dunno.

DONT RUN FROM WHO YOU TRULY AREAnyways Zora, omg I saw a white mage at the convention and I thought of you immediately even though we never talk. I say go with what you want, the design sketched are nice but I am personally in love with the top one.

I think the cape and hood could still work. I'm honestly not that good at costume design to know for sure, but I think the two would work well, since they both have the same color scheme and match the overall ensemble. Also for the leggings, I think brown is probably the way to go.

My opinion:

Dress: Cool. Tied up sides might work, and for red triangles, I recommend stitching, cause it would look nice that way.

 

Include the chainmail, and a white mage HAS to have a hood, so include that. Cape looks cool, but if you want to show off the chainmail, you could make the cape less wide, and hook it to the chainmail, or don't wear the cape.

 

Brown leggings would complement with your cosplay, and wear either Brown boots or brown sandals. No tennis shoes, or heels.

 

I'm not an expert at this stuff, but I was able to imagine this cosplay, so that's my opinion.

I hadn't intended for that to be taken in a derogatory way, and I am sorry if you were offended.I'm the one who's planning on running around in a videogame costume, after all. Brown leggings seem to be the consensus. And I will see what I can do about combining the hood and cape ideas.Thanks guys!
