Who here is getting a Wii U for Mario Kart 8?

Recommended Posts

I don't buy a console all for a single game. That's just a waste of money imo. But I already bought a Wii U early last year for all the great games coming out for it like Bayonetta 2, Smash bros 4, Monoloth Soft's X, Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, and tons more.

Psh, that's why I bought mine. The Mario costume preorder bonus will be completely worth it, and the Ganon boss fight's going to be the best in the series.

Dont forget the bikini dlc

Thanks everyone for your honest opinions. I'll be picking up my Wii U in July and will be hosting a Mario kart 8 party. The game looks so beautiful! And this will be the last Nario Kart game for a while!

I'm pretty sure my Wii U is the first console I've bought specifically for one game. I originally bought it for The Wind Waker HD,  but since I had about 6 months before it released, the console was able to show me what's really special about it. I now have Super Mario 3D World with WWHD, and plan on getting MK8, SSB, and several other heavy hitter titles.

Already have a Wii U, but Mario Kart 8 was definitely one of the titles that gave me a good reason to own the system. Mario Kart 7 was a huge disappointment on the 3DS for me so hopefully 8 is good. Plus, the game looks absolutely amazing.

is it because of the character selection?

That, and the fact that you can't even freely choose what stage you want to race in when you play with your friends locally. I also hate how you have to drift at every turn you make. I miss it when you could just use auto drift which was a really neat addition to Mario Kart Wii for those that didn't like using drift manually.

I see your point :) I hate how early they release these games and not take there time with it. Bu with Mario Kart 8 game it looks like they been working on it since they released MK7

Not really, I didn't mind the character selection that much. Though Metal Mario is a joke of a character as far as re-skins go.

I didn't like having to customise your vehicle rather than having set cars/bikes like before, I hated how low the camera felt when driving (if you aren't in first then the blue shell should NOT hit you in order to strike the guy in front of you), the fact you couldn't freely pick tracks and had to do a grand prix was annoying and well, I just felt the game was a little rushed because the 3DS at the time was in desperate need of games.

I'm not looking forward to driving under water or gliding through the air again for MK8. Gliding seriously slowed down the whole racing feel, imo.

I agree with you in so many ways, however I thought Mario Kart 7 was a lot better than Mario Kart Wii and Double Dash as in controls, Double Dash to me was way to bouncy and most of the time I would end up on the grass or off the road completely. Mario Kart Wii was unbalanced in so many ways with the whole Bike thing, IT'S CALLED MARIO KART! NOT MARIO BIKE! lol.

But like you said the gliding needs to go, the underwater if done correctly can be a great addition to the series. The Glider just feels to quirky for me especially when you go off of big jumps.
