Dio Brando 5,810 Posted March 24, 2014 I've posted this somewhere here but I want to put it as it's own thread to explain my thoughts a little bit better Those complains I heard about why the DS and Wii wifi service being shut down are used with the stupidest excuses I've ever heard and it does nothing but hindering our future online experiences with the 3DSWii U Like seriously,People had EIGHT YEARS to pick up a Wii and a DS so it;s their fault not making use of all that time second of all, running servers requires money,of which they can use to improve the online of the Wii U and the 3DS so it won't be as horrible as Brawl's online It's not a kick in the balls,it's called moving on and improving your current stuff instead of standing still in the past Microsoft shut down the original Xbox servers 2 years ago and people thought it';s okay but when Nintendo does it they're evil??? FOR F***S SAKE GUYS MOVE ON THIS IS STUPID!! At least the Virtual console(which is the most important out of the WiFi servers) is still up And shutting down the old tired Wi fi servers was the best decision they can do not only to improve their new servers, but to actually encourage people to move on,upgrade to something else like how people upgraded from the original Xbox to 360 Please tell me ONE person who still plays Battle Revolution Online! Please Tell me one person who wants the horrible online of Brawl to stay as it is in Smash 4 Those games won't last online forever just like the original Xbox games that supported online. If you want Smash 4 to have a superb online experience unlike Brawl's online, let them move on to the servers they should be focusing on more which will improve online for future games not just Smash 4 Also,Can't afford a Wii U??? The thing is very cheap in price compared to the others, you can find it for 299$ compared to the Ps4's 399$ and Xbox One's 499$ heck you can even find it at a cheaper price Some Amazon offers sell it for 230$ or even less In fact, the stupid decision that Nintendo actually made(which I agree with ReviewTechUSA about) is both keeping the Wii servers alive and the introduction of the unnecessary Wii Mini, why keep on supporting the old device if it does nothing but hindering the new ones Keeping the Wii alive would lead to nothing but confusion for the customer just like in 2011 when people confused the 3DS to be another version of the original DS when in reality it was a new handheld Do you honestly and geniunely expecting them to keep those old dying servers on forever??? Microsoft realized this and knew that keeping the servers of the original Xbox alive will do nothing but hinder the online experience of the 360'sXbox One Xbox Live service and finally decided to put the original Xbox to rest We'll see this in the future soon, almost maybe in 2016 where the Ps3Xbox 360 servers will be shut down for the sake of improving the PSN for the PS4Ps Vita and the Xbox Live for the Xbox One This isn't something only Nintendo did, this is something called moving on,the Wii and DS's lifecycle has come to an end, nothing last forever and they must me put aside if we want a better future for the 3DSWii U online experiences So please, let's just move on,please let this money on improving the Nintendo Network servers of the 3DSWii U instead of keeping the rusty old DSWii servers alive for no reason,it just hinders the future of the gaming experience with the current systems we have. The WiiDS had their time of over eight years and it's time for them to retire 9 tlozbj, Cucco, bit and 6 others reacted to this

Dio Brando 5,810 Posted March 24, 2014 Well, I just wanted to post my opinion. I don't see how this counts as "not moving on" when i was just posting my complete thoughts on it.. As I told you in the chat Keeping them alive does nothing but hurting the 3DS and Wii U,unless you consider Brawl's online fantastic This money wasted on the WiiDS will be better spent giving us better online experience on Wii U3DS Tell me one person who still plays Pokemon Battle Revolution online? With X&Y out, nobody is playing this game online Same with the online of the DS Pokemon games And believe me in the near future, the servers of the Ps3Xbox 360 will be shut down too to improve the servers of the Ps4Vita and Xbox one The original Xbox servers were shut down 2 years ago, people didn't cry a river And honestly the 3DSWii U are very cheap in price compared to the competition around them

Robbie the Wise 5,050 Posted March 24, 2014 If your gonna preach about moving on at least don't continue something that started in another thread. On a side note I don't really see what people are so upset game companies always shut off outdated servers eventually. Rather then waste money maintaining those servers I'd rather see more work go into modern systems.

It's just my previous response expanded, what does expanding my post has to do with the point I try to make other than trying to explain it more clearly?,what's with these assumptions about me these days? Rizzyy 736 Posted March 24, 2014 Fool. Nintendo is evil. When I'm rich, I'm going to put out a lot of propaganda showing how bad Nintendo is. you don't need to anyone with eyes could see how bad Nintendo is compared to Sony and Microsoft. The fact is the only thing running for the WII U is the new Brawl (or whatever their calling it) and Legend of Zelda while the combined list for what Xbox and Playstation are putting out this year alone would prove my point. MasterRoxas13 340 Posted March 24, 2014 While I agree with the point that they should move on eventually to their newer platforms ,buying new consoles is not as simple as saying I want a Wii or a DS, if you don't have parents that can not afford them or will not buy them, then you have to become a late- adapter, or get a job which is much much harder then it sounds ( I am trying to get a job again and I have been looking for five months and still have not found anything) I didn't buy a Wii until 2011 and a PS3 in 2012, this was due to the fact that I was going through some rough times from 2006- 2013 ( parents divorcing then, moving from place to place) so I didn't have the any chances to buy a Wii or PS3 for a while. I barely had time to enjoy online experiences on the my Wii or my DS( I lost my DS lol).So just cutting off their online services so early compared to their competitors, will be a dis service to me and other late adapters. The opposite could be said for early adapters so.

MasterRoxas13 340 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) Exclusive wise Nintendo has a better line- up this year, What PlayStation 4 exclusives are coming out after Second Son? Destiny lol or Watch dogs lol What Xbox One exclusive is coming out after TitanFall? Halo 5 might not even come out this year ( it could be substituted for Halo 2 anniversary) . What exclusives does Nintendo have after DK Tropical Freeze? Mario Kart, Super Smash bros, X, Bayonetta 2, etc I game on all three consoles and both handhelds , so I am no fanboy, just stating facts. Sora96 17,256 Posted March 24, 2014 Why support shitty old services? Seriously. It's not like they're preventing people from playing the games or using the DSi and Wii stores. 1 Neptune Vasilias reacted to this
OmegaForte 1,674 Posted March 24, 2014 They should have given a 1-year warning, not a few months. Also lul at the "Nintendo wi-fi connection" logos to remain forever on sealed games. People that want online on those and don't bother checking news on sites are going to be confused why some features don't work. Haha! 1 Neptune Vasilias reacted to this

OmegaForte 1,674 Posted March 24, 2014 Why? It's not like they're preventing people from playing a game, or getting trophies or buying a game. Some games have extra features or missions that require online. One example is the Manaphy mission from Pokemon Ranger irrc. Not a large list of games that have a similar situation, but it will have a minor impact. Well the DS has been discontinued worldwide for awhile now and the Wii has been discontinued in most parts of the world for awhile. I think that's enough warning. I think that's enough warning. Not really, even worse when games like BW2 have been out for only 1 year and a few months. Do note people still trade on BW for some reasons. (No not because they didn't upgrade to XY. Hack checks is one reason.)I did expect this to happen, just not so soon. In any case I'm already prepared. Also in a way it's good they are doing this so people can move on to the latest systems. (Although they still have other obvious things to do, but that's a different discussion for another time.) Amon 4,279 Posted March 24, 2014 Despite the DS and the Wii outselling pretty much everything, very few people actually used the online services for these consoles apart from the store and internet browsing. There's no point keeping the service going if people are barely using it. 1 Sora96 reacted to this
