Firaga 5,947 Posted May 28, 2015 Well, after two months (really, it's only been two months? lol) after the end of the Akame Ga Kill anime... I am officially caught up with the Akame Ga Kill manga. That's right, I have read all 60 currently released chapters and am awaiting Chapter 61. (Also, I'm gonna get started on Akame Ga Kill Zero! soon, too.) Just to wrap up what I felt from the manga as well as the content that wasn't included in the anime, here's a quick summary of my thoughts (spoilers, obviously): Holy crap on a stick, the manga is better than the anime. lol I mean really, all the gripes I had from the anime (sans the Akame VS Kurome fight) were extinguished in the manga, mostly because some things were done better (i.e. Lubba's death, Run, Syura, Wild Hunt, Budou in general, Mine VS Budou, Akame VS Esdeath) as well as the stuff that wasn't included (Run's fate/backstory, all the battles, Tatsumi's upgrade for Incursio, Kurowave action, anything involving Dorothea, Izou, and Syura in Wild Hunt (including the first two's well done deaths in the recent chapters) and more). As for the story right now: I'm glad that Mine was put in a coma instead of being fully dead after her fight with Budou. It helps better as motivation for Tatsumi and his current arc with Incursio and his limited ability. Also Lubba and Syura went out in a fashion I wasn't expected (though I was somewhat spoiled that Lubba would get one of his balls crushed. Yikes), but still, I'm glad that both were able to go out on a strong note. Also, Budou is a complete monster. Unlike Anime!Budou who's just a complete push-over in comparison. Just like Anime!Syura. Also, I'm curious to how Kurome using Run as one of her puppets is going to play out. I guess you can say we're sort of in a episodic-type structure right now. I mean, things are happening, the Revolutionaries are making their way towards taking down the Empire. but again, it feels like the standard "assassination of the day" formula that's been going on since the beginning, minus of course the occasional death/power-up/"boss battle"/major story development. Still, I think that once things get more closer and closer to the day that the Revolutionary Army takes their stand against the Empire and Night Raid has a chance to take down Onest and the rest of the higher-ups, we'll move into a more central arc-type setting, where shit is really going to hit the fan.
