Hargleblargleboo 979 Posted February 24, 2014 Yes, I know it sounds VERY odd, but it's just a thought. Being a HUGE animation fan, I can think of a few films at the moment that aren't closely associated with Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel, or Lucasfilm that would fit well. They can work for any or all of these reasons, like world and enemy design, world exploration, battles, gameplay, music, story development and, my favorite, character development. Here are some films I think would work for some of the specific reasons above. I'll also talk about the pros and cons of each one. First is Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Isn't Studio Ghibli associated with Disney already?" Well yes, but not for what you're thinking of. Disney doesn't own Studio Ghibli. They only distribute their films and dub them for English speaking audiences. As far as I recall anyways... Pro(s): How a world like this could work is that, of course, there is great potential for enemy design, level exploration, or a decent boss fight with No-Face. It can also explain the struggles and lessons of entering adulthood, touching upon the value of memories again, lightly talking about love, and the value of parents to the characters for a bit. I don't know about you, but I am VERY curious about the main characters parents and what they think of them. Specifically Sora and Riku. Do they not want to talk about them for reasons they want to avoid? Or did they disappear somehow? I know it might not be that important at all in the series, but the curiosity has been killing me for too many years. Con(s): I can't really think of many gameplay elements to add except for some minigames involving work in the bathouse or something. Gameplay is one of the series strong points, and I can't really see any appropriate battle locations for a world like this. But hey, what do I know? It they can incorporate battle locations for Snow White and Cinderella, I guess Square Enix could figure something out. Well, if they had a chance to use this film for a world. One extra note, if you are an animation fan, I HIGHLY recommend this film. And lastly for now, is The Adventures of Tintin Pro(s): Now, THIS film was a blast to watch, and I chose it because it would be a nice and fun adventure! Unlike Spirited Away where I see more emphasis on character and story development, A world like this could thrive in gameplay. If you've watched Tintin, you know how action packed it is. Not only that, but the characters are fun as well. The story is easy to follow, and has a great villain. The action spans from motorcycle chases, to pirate ship battles, and so much more! If Square Enix had a chance to use this movie and do it right, it could be a lot of fun! Con(s): All I can really think of is how little story and character development can be added. That's about it. Or none that I can think of at the moment. Again, I recommend this film if you just want to have a swell time! Anyways, I do have a lot of other films on my mind, but I won't talk about them on here. I'm saving those for a top ten video I'm working on. What about you? What Non-Disney animated films do you think would work in the series? I'm curious to know. 3 tlrpttmn, Konoha and Lalalablah reacted to this

Hargleblargleboo 979 Posted February 24, 2014 (edited) Some Don Bluth films. American Tale, in particular. Yeah, considering he was a former Disney animator. Both of his mice movies could work! Hargleblargleboo 979 Posted February 24, 2014 Shrek. The Road to El Dorado. Kung Fu Panda. (YOU KNOW IT WOULD WORK) How to Train Your Dragon. Rise of the Guardians. Dreamworks. All of my yes again. Then again, I think the internet would explode if Sora meet someone like Jack Frost or something. I don't get that. However, I would love to see how Sora would react to more bada$$ version of Santa Claus. C:

Isamu Kuno 2,512 Posted February 24, 2014 I want Thumbelina and Anastasia ^THIS! SO MUCH THIS! Anyone on this site who has seen my posts knows I am a HUGE proponent of KH just sticking with the animated canon, no Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Or Indiana Jones, much less movies that aren't affiliated with Disney, but for the sake of this thread, I would say that these two would be excellent non-Disney choices for one reason. They feel like Disney movies, Much more so than Marvel and LucasFilms and even more than most Pixar films. The animation, character design, songs, all of it make it hard to believe that they aren't Disney As for my two cents, I'd say "The Road to ElDorado" and "Rise of the Guardians" would also be good choices. Alas, they have even less chance of being in KH than the two in the quote because Dreamworks is Disney's largest competitor in the Animated Feature Fim market. They hate each other. 1 Caity reacted to this
Hargleblargleboo 979 Posted February 24, 2014 There are also Dreamworks, Illumination Studios, Laika, Fox Animation Studios, Warner Bros, Studio Ghibli, Aardman Animation, Blue Sky Studios, and Paramount just to name a couple extra studios. The possibilities are endless!

The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted February 26, 2014 Wow, you know, I actually thought about Stuido Ghibli films too, and I think it'd be pretty sweet to see a world of that caliber in Kingdom Hearts. And oh my gosh, I love TinTin! I'm still awaiting the day that they eventually announce a sequel, because seriously, TinTin is the animated equivalent of Indiana Jones, if not better! And then there's the excellent voice acting and superb animation. And well, in terms of what non-Disney movies I'd like for the Kingdom Hearts games, I say Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas would be cool since it has pirates and whatnot, and it has whimsical charm. (Although pirates at this point in a KH game is nothing new.) and then there's also Road To El Dorado, which looks like a Disney movie in all the best ways, and plus there's the message of brotherhood and friendship, with which the Kingdom Hearts series is known for. Then there's Kung Fu Panda, which I adore to death, and it touches on the themes of accepting yourself and finding your inner power. Oh, and I also remember this movie called Quest for Camelot, but I don't remember who exactly made the film or what company distributed it, but yeah, I remember it was an amazing movie with a good story about finding yourself, and also, the quirky sidekick characters were fun to watch. Overall, I have the strong belief that Square should stick with the Disney/Final Fantasy image they have thus far, but if there's no other options in the future, then sure I'm all up for non-Disney worlds.
