Of course CoM isn't filler. None of the games are filler with the exception of Coded. I'm just saying they could have easily replaced Marluxia with, say, Xigbar. He could have survived the final fight and it wouldn't have mattered anyway because Sora wouldn't have remembered it. That's how flexible CoM is.

The reason why Marluxia was there because Xemnas sent him when they knew about his betrayal. So he cannot be replaced and also it would fit a lot to have Marluxia in Castle Oblivion instead of the others.

I'm aware of that, I'm just saying it could easily be written entirely differently and nothing would have changed. They could have sent Xigbar, or Xaldin or any other Organization member there, had them fake their deaths after the fight, and Sora would have forgotten everything anyway. They didn't even need to write any new character for CoM, to be honest. I'm glad they did because it added more variety, but that's all they really contributed. Variety.

It's just me or I correctly remember to have read somewhere that Nomura said he would have spoke about their past in future if he would have the possibility? Can't remember where but I'm kinda sure I've read something like that.. was I dreaming? D: Also, like I said in another thread, I bet they will return as Somebodies in Kingdom Hearts III

I think it has a reason why we never heard what their real names are.. But i think in Kh3 the got reall big part in the story.

For the longest time,the origins of all Organization XIII members was explained except those 4

 

We know little to nothing about them aside from Marluxia's plan to take over the Organization,we never met or saw their human counterparts(or Somebody as it's stupidly named),we didn't even know when or where did they turned into heartlesses and became nobodies??

 

 

Sure we might get some explanation for them in KH3,but what guarantees us that they'll appear in KH3,maybe they'll get ignored again

 

Unless those four are acutally the foretellers that the KH X game talked about(as hard as it is to imagine Demyx being a wise guy),I don't know if we'll ever see them again or get an explanation on WTF are they supposed to even be.

 

They should've been shown somewhere in the previous games,they could've shown them in BBS alongside the others in Radiant Garden

 

That at least would've gave me a reason to care about Birth by Sleep

Look at it this way: Lea and Isa's backstories were pretty...dull. They were just average kids living in an average city living their, oh i dunno, average lives. 

 

In fact, most of their character doesn't even come from their back stories. It's from what is going on right now. 

 

So if Marly, Larx, Luxord, and Demyx don't have any backstories to begin with, then we can assume that their backstories weren't all that important at all. Just like Lea and Isa. All of the founding members have interesting backstories, but it seems that everyone else had their usual, average childhood.

Hopefully they keep them out of KH 3 since they are terrible characters. Who gives a firetruck about any of their back stories honestly?
