(Warning: This thread contains my mother trucking opinion. I'm not gonna be too nice here, and I apologize for that. But dammit, I will not be silenced! The truth must be TOLD!!)

 

Yeah that's right. HIPSTERS.

 

You all know what I'm talking about. Every now and again you'll see these guys 'round the internet writing on their blogs or on YouTube videos leaving stupid comments (actually, that's mostly all of us, but back on point); they are some of the most ANNOYING and CLOSE-MINDED bags of puke I have ever had to come into contact with...

 

Now, HOLD THE PHONE, b/c I know about six or seven of you are about to reply with some negative comments... I'm not talking about people who don't like anime or manga of the, oh let's say, Naruto or Bleach or One Piece variety, no! It's fine if you don't like series that are considered popular and "mainstream", if I should go there, and instead indulge in some lesser known series... that's perfectly fine.

 

HOWEVER... if you're a PRICK and go around saying how *insert anime/manga that only three people know about* is SO much better than something like DragonBall, and throw out excuses like "popular series are generic", "they're all boring and for kids", "nobody over 10 should watch them" then you got another thing coming, MISTER!

 

Words cannot describe the ANIMOSITY I feel with these types of people. W-what makes your shit so special in the first place?! What, just because Naruto is about ninjas, your series is better because it's about emo kids playing with trading cards from another DIMENSION?! You might also say that most series like this are for ten year olds. Hell no! Shonen, the genre they are referring to, may be marketed to young boys, but I can tell you from a LIFETIME of watching reading shonen... IT IS NOT ALWAYS FOR KIDS. And when it IS for kids, it falls under the demographic where they're at least old enough to see a man die. Is that kiddy? I don't think so! And another thing: is this obscure series somehow gets popular, then what then? What if it blows up like Toriko or Fairy Tail did? Does it suck then?! With all the other MAINSTREAM series?! Seriously, this is some hypocritical nonsense right here! More nonsense includes, and I'm quoting this, too, not wanting to indulge in the more lengthy series (as most popular series can be) because "I'm too f**king lazy"... WHAT THE FRACK?! Laziness! That's a legit reason?! That just discredits EVERYTHING they stand for to an extent to a point where I don't even have to talk about it! It's just... WHAT?! Grr!

 

Alright, I've vented as much as I possibly could. And again, people: don't take this the wrong way. You're not an animanga hipster if you don't like what everybody else likes. It's okay to like things that aren't the norm. However, if you wanna be a jackass about it, THEN we got some problems.

Hating a series because it's too popular is just ignorance. Hating a series because you think it sucks and don't understand WHY it's so popular is a completely different thing.

But on the other side,there are some of those assholes that will shit on your favorite anime because it isn't as popular as their favorites

I for example didn't like Naruto, One Piece and Bleach, and I never gave them a chance.

 

I tried them all, and you can guess which one I like the most

 

You shouldn't judge an anime/manga without trying it out.

 

I can say that I don't enjoy One Piece and Bleach, I tried watching and reading them before, and it doesn't tickle my fancy.
