"Oh, come on, Chosan! You and Shikana will just slow me down!" Inoue began to protest. "Why'd I have to get stuck with you two anyway? I'd do way better on my own!" He tried to run off, forgetting his brother was gripping his arm.

 

Kiyoshi

 

"Right, Fujiri-sensei!" Kiyoshi nodded, and managed to get closer to Tenshi and Banken. "We have to listen to Fujiri-sensei, Tenshi! If we don't work together, we'll die!" She pulled out a kunai, and blocked a few shuriken that were thrown at her.

"It would have been better if you just hadn't done this in the first place..." Kiyoshi shot a fireball jutsu at a group of ninja, then sighed. "Now we're in a lot of trouble, Tenshi!" She kicked another rogue ninja.

 

 

Chosan

 

"Inoue wait!" Chosan cried, catching up to his brother and tugging on his arm. "Don't rush in, remember? We need to think this through! We're a team, brother! The third InoShikaCho team! Right, Shikana?" the pudgy boy remarked, turning to his more calm female teammate.

 

Fujiri

 

"Tenshi, Banken, Kiyoshi, stay together and work as a team!" Fujiri sternly commanded, drawing forth his bugs once more to circle around the shinobi making haste against his students. "Hidden Jutsu: Bug Sphere!" He said, shooting orbs made up of his bugs at various rouges and hitting them all dead center.

Shikana

 

She nodded her head. "Yeah, as much as i hate to say it, we're going to have to fight now. We have to stick together!"

 

Konahamaru

 

Konahamaru looked sternly at Inoue. "You're teammates are right Inoue, you can't go rushing off on your own, especially against people like this."

 

Banken

 

He nodded at Fujiri's words. "Right sensei, I understand." He quickly slashed with his right hand, and a strong gust of wind shot out from it, hitting 2 of the ninja heading towards Tenshi's right side, and proceeded to run next to him. "Tenshi, we need to get back to Kiyoshi and Fujiri Sensei, we need to work together!"

Inoue

Tenshi laughed. "Oh come on guys, i don't need teamwork. You should have a bit more faith in me, I'm stronger than you all think." He pulled out his sword and quickly started knocking away ninja's heading toward him with the butt of it. He then made a few hand signs and put his hand in front of his mouth. "WIND RELEASE STREAM!" He quickly blew out a powerful gust of wind from his mouth, knocking away the ninja in front of him. "Did you see that Kiyoshi! I told you i'm good!"

 

Banken

 

He sighed as he heard Tenshi's comments. He really doesn't know when to quit. He's just making himself look like even more of an idiot. He then turned to his dog. "LETS GO SHIROMARU! FANG ROTATING FANG!" He and Shiromaru quickly started spinning in midair and knocked away some of the other ninja nearby. "Seriously Tenshi, you have to take this seriously. I'm taking you back to Kiyoshi and Sensei whether you like it or not." He grabbed Tenshi by the arm and ran back to Kiyoshi and the others as fast as he could.

An ant that moves out of the food gathering line has no sense of direction and will run around in circles and leave itself open to be squashed. Do I make myself clear?" He said, a chilling tone added to his words as his black shades reflected a small bit of light.

Kiyoshi sighed, kicking away a ninja that had almost attacked Tenshi from behind. "Instead of focusing on me, you should focus on the ninja about to kill you... Geez, you're really just like my brother... Always caring more about girls than what's actually important." She shot a Fireball Jutsu at a group of shinobi, and also heeded Fujiri's advice. "Yes, Fujiri sensei!"

"At least one of you is able to follow my commands," Fujiri said to himself, his insects gathering stronger by the second, invading the bodies of the rouge shinobi that came into his view. The squirming rouges were now sitting targets for his students to take potshots at if they wanted to.

"Okay, big brother, lead us into the formation!" Chosan said, grouping together close with his brother and teammate.

"Fine then, i guess i'll just stick with you guys for now, if only because Banken is going to force me into it and that Kiyoshi is being annoyed by it." He started charging up chakra into his hand, and it started surging with electricity around it. "Chidori!" He said as he rushed through one ninja with the jutsu, following up by kicking the one next to him away from the others.

 

Banken

 

Banken smirked. "Finally, took long enough to drill that into your skull. Now the real action can begin!" He quickly held his arm back in preparation for an attack. "BEAST TEARING PALM!" He slashed at the air, sending out chakra that forced away a few ninja that were rushing towards them.

 

Fujiri

"Oh, right. Alright, then!" Inoue faced a group of the rogue shinobi, and grinned. "I'm the Leaf Village's greatest shinobi! The 17th head of the Inoichi clan! I'm Inoue Yamanaka, and I'm going to kick your sorry butts outta here!" He shouted, looking like a complete idiot. Kiyoshi sighed, disappointed to be teamed up with him.

 

I think I'd rather work with my brother than this guy... Kiyoshi thought.

Tenshi seethed as he heard Inoue's battle cry. Is he...trying to steal my gimmick? That asshole!

She facepalmed and sighed. "Yeah forget it, i'm not doing this. We're going into the formation now guys, so get ready." She quickly made a few hand seals really fast and clasped her hands together. "SHADOW STITCHING JUTSU!" A shadow came from underneath her and attached to the feet of several ninja that were coming towards her. "Ok guys, your turn!"

"Alright!" Inoue smirked. "Mind transfer jutsu!" He switched into the body of one of the rogue ninja who was distracted by Shikana's attack. He ran towards the group of ninja captured by the Shadow Stitching, and tossed down a paper bomb. He quickly switched back before the explosion. "At least they went out with a bang." Inoue laughed. "Alright, your turn, Chosan!"

"Aw, the battle cry would have been cool but okay!" The rotund ninja cried. "Ninja Art: Expansion Jutsu!" Chosan cried, turning himself into a giant blob. Chakra blew out his body like stream as he tucked his head and his arms and legs inside his body. "Human Boulder!!" He cried, rolling foward in his new ball form and mowing over the rouge ninja caught by Shikana's and Inoue's attack; he also managed to take care of some rouges that tried to stop him in his tracks as he turned a corner and sped back to his original position.

 

"All clear!" Chosan cried, giving his teammates a thumbs up.

Wow... Their communication might be horrible, but they're really strong. The kunoichi was in awe after seeing the Ino-Shika-Cho formation in action. I really need to step it up... I thought I was behind before... She sighed. "Well, it looks like that's all of them... What now, Fujiri sensei?" She looked at her team leader.

 

Inoue

 

"Heh, of course they're all gone! It's all because of the great hero Inoue!" Inoue smirked, acting as annoyingly proud as he usually did. "Oh, and with help from Chosan and Shikana, of course."

"Well considering that Tenshi here has caused our mission to be a failure," Fujiri stated, glaring at his student through his thick shades, "we must regroup with Yumi and Lee Sensei's teams. Come along everyone," Fujiri stated, already walking out of the cave with his hands in his pockets.

"I did most of the work! You and Shikana were just my sidekicks, as usual!" Inoue teased his sensitive brother. The boy grinned, and followed Fujiri out of the cave.

 

Kiyoshi

 

"Yes, Fujiri sensei!" Kiyoshi nodded. She looked at Tenshi, and glared at him. "Good job, Tenshi..." She signed, and closely followed Fujiri. I wonder how Kinatama's group did...? I hope they were okay... Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if my idiot brother had done something like what Tenshi did...

"Ah... It's good to finally be done with that mission!" Koukon grinned, glad to have finally returned to the village.

 

"Yeah..." Hikari smiled slightly. "Hey, we should go to Ichiraku to celebrate."

 

"I'd be fine with that!" Kiyoshi chimed in, looking much better than she did during the mission. "Do you want to come along too, Kinatama?"

 

Hikari sighed. I was hoping it would just be me and Koukon... I guess I can't get that...

 

"Wait, children! As much as I hate to interrupt you in the springtime of your youths, we must go and report in to Lord Hokage Naruto!" Lee scolded Koukon, Hikari, and Kiyoshi.

 

"Don't worry about it, Lee." Yumi smiled. "I'll deal with the report. Let's let them have their fun. I'll meet with you all soon!" She nodded towards her genin, and split off from the group.

 

"Very well then, Yumi sensei! I shall go on my own, too!" He gave Yumi a thumbs up, then turned to the genin. "I wish you all a happy day! Goodbye!" He raced off into the town.

 

"Geez... That guy's weird. I wouldn't ever be able to stand him." Inoue sighed. "Well, if they're going to Ichiraku, we'll have to take things up a notch. Let's go get some barbecue, guys!" He shouted to Chosan and Shikana.

"Icharaku, huh? Sure I wouldn't mind. I need something in my stomach anyway if I want to keep my training routine," Kinatama said, arms folded nonchalantly. Besides, I'd like to get as far away as possible from Akimichi as possible, he thought, looking at Chosan.

 

Ryuichi / Shogo

 

"Thank you very much Dad Sensei!" Ryuichi called back to his dad. "Now then Shogo, shall we head to the Training Grounds for our spar?!"

 

"No, Ryuichi, I already told you that I didn't want to spar anymore today. Don't be foolish. In fact, I think I'd rather join Miss Hikari and the others," Shogo said, with Ryuichi frowning at him.

 

"But Shogo--!!" whined the green clad ninja.

 

"I've already made up my mind," Shogo interrupted.

 

Ryuichi sighed. "Well then, I guess that maybe I can join you as well. After all, Mother says that I should not over exert myself."

 

Chosan

 

"Barbeque! HECK YEAH!" said the rotund boy, who returned Kinatama's stare. I think I'd like to get away from Mottoyoi as soon as possible anyway. "Let's go, Shikana!" He added out loud, already following his brother.

Eventually, the two groups met up again at the village...

 

"Ah... It's good to finally be done with that mission!" Koukon grinned, glad to have finally returned to the village.

 

"Yeah..." Hikari smiled slightly. "Hey, we should go to Ichiraku to celebrate."

 

"I'd be fine with that!" Kiyoshi chimed in, looking much better than she did during the mission. "Do you want to come along too, Kinatama?"

 

Hikari sighed. I was hoping it would just be me and Koukon... I guess I can't get that...

 

"Wait, children! As much as I hate to interrupt you in the springtime of your youths, we must go and report in to Lord Hokage Naruto!" Lee scolded Koukon, Hikari, and Kiyoshi.

 

"Don't worry about it, Lee." Yumi smiled. "I'll deal with the report. Let's let them have their fun. I'll meet with you all soon!" She nodded towards her genin, and split off from the group.

 

"Very well then, Yumi sensei! I shall go on my own, too!" He gave Yumi a thumbs up, then turned to the genin. "I wish you all a happy day! Goodbye!" He raced off into the town.

 

"Geez... That guy's weird. I wouldn't ever be able to stand him." Inoue sighed. "Well, if they're going to Ichiraku, we'll have to take things up a notch. Let's go get some barbecue, guys!" He shouted to Chosan and Shikana.

 

 

Kinatama

 

"Icharaku, huh? Sure I wouldn't mind. I need something in my stomach anyway if I want to keep my training routine," Kinatama said, arms folded nonchalantly. Besides, I'd like to get as far away as possible from Akimichi as possible, he thought, looking at Chosan.

 

Ryuichi / Shogo

 

"Thank you very much Dad Sensei!" Ryuichi called back to his dad. "Now then Shogo, shall we head to the Training Grounds for our spar?!"

 

"No, Ryuichi, I already told you that I didn't want to spar anymore today. Don't be foolish. In fact, I think I'd rather join Miss Hikari and the others," Shogo said, with Ryuichi frowning at him.

 

"But Shogo--!!" whined the green clad ninja.

 

"I've already made up my mind," Shogo interrupted.

 

Ryuichi sighed. "Well then, I guess that maybe I can join you as well. After all, Mother says that I should not over exert myself."

 

Chosan

 

"Barbeque! HECK YEAH!" said the rotund boy, who returned Kinatama's stare. I think I'd like to get away from Mottoyoi as soon as possible anyway. "Let's go, Shikana!" He added out loud, already following his brother.

Itachi

 

He walked over to Koukon and Kinatama as they walked to Ichiraku. "Eh, I guess i might aswell tag along, not like i've got anything better to do." He looked over and saw the other teams following. "Uh, you guys know that the other teams are tagging along with us, right?"

 

Tenshi

 

He ran over to Kiyoshi as fast as he could. "So, we're all going to Ichiraku, right? That's good, i'd love to have some Ramen right about now."

 

Banken

 

He sighed as he saw Tenshi heading over to try and flirt with Kiyoshi a bit. I might as well tag along, if only to try and spare Kiyoshi from Tenshi's idiotic actions.

As the genin walked off to socialize, Yumi made her way to the Hokage's mansion. She entered the Hokage's office, and prepared to give her briefing.

 

"Ah, Yumi! Looks like you're back from your mission. So, how'd it go?" The Sixth Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki, asked his fellow clansmate. He was grinning as usual, certain that everything was successful.

 

"Well... The mission didn't go as planned, but it was still a success... In some regards, anyway." Yumi scratched her head nervously.

 

"Uh... What do you mean?" Naruto's grin quickly changed to a puzzled look.

 

"We couldn't get any information..." Yumi sighed. "However, we found rogue shinobi. We took them all down."

 

"Well, at least that's one problem solved!" Naruto switched back to grinning. "I'm sure you and the other jonin showed them, right?"

 

"That's the thing... You see, the genin actually did most of the fighting." Yumi answered. "In fact, they fought pretty well." She beamed, proud of her students. Even if Koukon's the one who screwed up and caused us all to get attacked... "And, because of that..."

 

"Yes, Yumi?" Naruto leaned in, interested by what Yumi was about to say.

 

"The Chunin Exams start a week from today. I'd like to suggest that all of the genin who participated in this mission take the exams. They all have potential to be Chunin rank, and some seem very likely to earn that position." Yumi's expression was serious. She truly trusted the genin.

 

"Hm... Very well, then! In a week, all of them will participate in the Chunin Exams! I'll be excited to see how this unfolds." Naruto grinned once again. Yumi nodded, and thanked Naruto.

Yumi led her team to the Chunin Exams registration office, located in the ninja academy. The Chunin Exams were conveniently located in the Leaf village this year, preventing the need to travel to a faraway village, and end up running the risk of being late. The registration was led by two jonin; Sakura Haruno, and Shikamaru Nara.

 

The halls of the academy were packed with ninja from all five of the major villages. A lot of people were conversing, making it fairly difficult to hear anything. Occasionally, Sakura would have to yell at a group of genin who tried to cause trouble during the long wait, silencing the entire crowd.

 

"Wow, I can't believe how many people there are here! I've got so many opportunities to show that I'm the best ninja in all of the villages!" Koukon smirked. Yumi laughed. Behind Yumi, the other genin who had accompanied her team were all lined up with their senseis. After a few hours, they finally reached Sakura and Shikamaru.

 

"Three genin." Yumi began to inform Sakura. "Itachi Uchiha, Kinatama Mottoyoi, and Koukon Yougan." Shikamaru handed her paperwork, while Sakura's mind was clearly somewhere else.

 

"Oh, Itachi! I'm so proud of you! I didn't think that you'd be participating in these exams so quickly after graduation! Just be careful and try not to get hurt, okay? Go and kick everyone's butts, honey!" Sakura had Itachi gripped in a death hug, clearly unable to control her incredible strength. She continued doting her son. Shikamaru was embarrassed to have to work with her, Yumi was a bit confused, and Koukon laughed at Itachi.

 

"Hey, Kinatama. Looks like mommy's giving widdle Itachi a good luck kiss." Koukon tried to whisper to Kinatama, but spoke louder than he'd intended to. Sakura quickly turned to look at Koukon, giving him a murderous stare. He quickly straightened up, and Sakura continued expressing her love for her son. Yumi finished with the paperwork for her team, and handed it in to Shikamaru.

 

"Thank you. Take your genin to room 28-B. Well... You might not be able to bring that one." He looked to Itachi, who was still being smothered by Sakura.

 

"Right..." Yumi sighed. "Koukon, Kinatama, come on. I'll come back for Itachi when he's not so busy..." She led her team to the room Shikamaru sent them to.

After Sakura put him down, he put his hands on his knees and tried to catch his breath. "I'll see you later mother." He started walking towards room 28-B.

Kinatama was reminded of his own mother seeing Sakura and Itachi. It felt nice to remember the good times they had, but given Kinatama's mental toughness, or somewhat lack thereof, he forced himself not to let it bother him.

 

"Heh heh, yeah. She might end up squeezing the life out of him," Kinatama commented, but along with Koukon shut up as Sakura stared them down.

 

After that, Team Yumi was assigned to go to room 28-B; leaving the embraced Itachi behind in hopes Sakura would let go eventually, Kinatama and Koukon followed their sensei to the room where the perilous journey known as the Chunin Exams would begin.

How much longer will we have to wait?" He'd ask at consistent variables. Yumi managed to keep herself entertained while they all waited, reading a book she'd found. The book's title, Tales of a Gutsy Shinobi, caught her interest for some strange reason. As she leaned against a wall, the genin all conversed.

 

"Hey, Kinatama... What do you think we'll have to do? I heard that past Chunin Exams were really dangerous, and that some people died..." Kiyoshi was clearly nervous. She didn't want to die, and she certainly didn't want to lose her closest friend.

 

Hikari stayed close to Koukon, Kinatama, and Kiyoshi. She didn't really have much to say. She seemed to be calm, but secretly, she was as nervous as Kiyoshi. What happens if something bad happens...? What happens if Koukon or the others?

 

"We'll be fine, Hikari." Koukon grinned, able to tell that she was worried.

 

How'd he figure out? Hikari began to blush, then noticed that her knuckes were white. She'd been clenching her fist. She loosened up, and tried to smile. "Y-yeah... I'm fine, Koukon. Don't worry about me."

 

Meanwhile, another genin decided to go and make an announcement to the whole room. "Hey, everyone!" A certain blonde haired shinobi shouted. "I'm Inoue Yamanaka, the greatest ninja alive! You'd better hope that you're lucky and don't end up on the other side of me in combat, or you'll regret it!" He began to laugh.

 

As everyone was talking, three genin approached Itachi. Two were clearly the same age as everyone else, and one looked fairly younger. The one who walked ahead of the others, seemingly the leader, stopped inches away from Itachi's face. He had a Leaf headband across his forehead, and a smug smirk stretched across his face. "Heh... I heard that you're Sasuke's kid. They say that you're supposed to be strong. How about we face off now? Unless you're too chicken, that is." He laughed. "I want to see if you live up to the Uchiha name, or if having a clanless mother with no special talent's made you a wimp, too."

 

The second one made his way over to Hikari. "So, you're the Hokage's kid, right?" He leaned up to her. He wore a pair of crooked glasses, and was missing a tooth. "You're pretty cute, you know. How about after these exams, you go out on a date with me? Don't worry, I'll keep you safe in the exam..." He attempted to lean in closer to the girl, but was quickly interrupted by a swift punch to the face.

 

"Hey, idiot. Quit being a creep and leave her alone." Koukon pulled his fist back, glaring at the boy. "I've got plenty more where that came from."

 

Hikari blushed. I didn't think that Koukon would actually do something like that for me... I was about to sock that kid, but he beat me to it... She silently mouthed "Thanks, Koukon." to her friend, who slightly smirked.

I don't have anything to prove to you, and i'm not stupid enough to waste my energy before the exams even begin. You'll get to see how strong i am when they begin, here's hoping i get to show them to you first hand." He started walking away.
