(Please note, the following story is out of character, and names have been changed to protect identities. Thank you for understanding!)

 

So I wound up on the bus after school, and the bus was crowded. As a result, someone I didn't know sat next to me, which I was fine with. She was in fifth grade, her name was Sasha, and she was black. After a while of being on the bus, a bunch of kids started calling out racial slurs to each other, but not to her specifically. I was trying to ignore them, while Sasha pulled out a notepad and started writing. I ignored it at first, but noticed what she was writing. I read the following message...

 

"Hey, look! Sasha died!

Haha!

Yaay!"

 

She then scribbled out the message, as if she wanted nobody to see it. That's when I realized that these racial slurs were affecting her on an emotional level. Before I had any chance to help, she got off at her stop.

 

This moment alone makes me pissed at people who just blurt stuff out like that. So please remember that if you're going to say any racial slurs, please be sure that the people you're saying it around are perfectly fine with what you're saying.

Racial slurs in general just shouldn't be spoken out loud. All they ever cause is trouble, in the end.

Also using racial slurs in a harmful manner is disgusting

*sits in depression corner* But seriously, racial slurs like that, really are just harmful, and ridiculous. Don't use them, there is no point, and others could be hurt. People have committed suicide for lesser things....

Poor Sasha  I wish I could give her a hug and tell her she's better than them.

Thats messed up, those things should never happen. Period. Everyone is equal

 

Its not the same as racial jokes, (although those should never be said either)sometimes people are OK with it as joke, like with comedians. But they ask the audience/friends first if they are alright with those jokes. And they don't mean it. Usually based on stupid stereotypes nobody believes anyway. This, however, is disgusting and completely different. It should never, ever be said literally/to hurt someone. Not on

why didn't anyone tell them to stop with the racist slurs??? where i come from that kid would have gotten one hell of a punch to the face!!! we've had kids suspended at our school for it so i don't see why they should be able to do so without punishment, our bus drivers kick kids like that off the bus  

I'm not good with racial slurs. From all races. But you can't just expect it not to happen. We live in a world of wickedness, and evil. But where there is wickedness, and evil there is also beauty, and good. You must focus on the positive side, and if you feel it matters, you stand up for it. 

And also, It's not just the Black race that gets slurs directed to them. It's all races alike. Children at your age are like this, they see it as only a joke. But they are unaware of the pain it causes. My point is, it's wrong but don't think it's only one race that gets discrimination. It's ALL races to each other. Whether it's Black directed to white, or White directed to Asian, ect. it's all wrong.
