Text The Keyblade War Chapter II: Chaotic Twilight.

Yes, Pocahontas! And I understand Dawn's nervouness; I'd probably feel the same way if I had been cooped up wearing completely-covering clothes most of my life. And I hope Valgard can keep Dawn's leaving a secret for a while longer. If it does come out, I hope he and Dawn won't be in too much trouble.

Evening everybody, Golden Fighter here, ready to post another chapter of my story!  You know, I think this story has progressed nicely, and I hope that you have all enjoyed it!  Please let me know what you think of the pacing of the story so far!  Enjoy the chapter! :D

Chapter 25: A Different Kind Of Princess

Xion and Vanitas headed down the forest path, hoping to get to the distant castle they had seen a few seconds ago.  They may not be able to find answers as to where Sora, Donald and Goofy’s location is, but checking wouldn’t hurt.  And so they continued following the strange blue spirits, for each one led to another and another.  “So, what do you make of these things?  Do you think they’re some sort of guide, or do you think they might be some kind of trap?” Vanitas asked to Xion, who was still trying to get the mud off of her scarf, but it was useless since the mud had already dried itself.  Only then did she notice Vanitas was talking to her.  “Oh, I’m sorry, what were you saying?” she asked in an apologetic tone.  Vanitas rolled his eyes and sighed.  “You know what?  Never mind.”  For the rest of their trek, they passed through the forest, which was eerily quiet.  After a few seconds they started seeing round, wooden target circles filled to the brim with arrows, like if someone had been practicing archery.  The more they followed the flaming blue spirits, the more of these arrow filled target circles could be seen.

When they reached another flaming blue spirit, it suddenly vanished, and no more of them were seen nearby.  “Well, it looks like this is our stop.” Vanitas said, as he and Xion stood in the center of what seemed to be a big circle, surrounded by mysterious stone pillars.  “Whoa.  What exactly is this place?” Xion asked, looking at the stones in awe.  “Hey, stop getting all goo goo eyed and remember that we have a mission to do.  Now let’s go, I see the path to the castle ahead.” Vanitas said, focused on reaching the castle already.  “Right.” Xion nodded, and she followed Vanitas into the path.  “By the way, how’s Roxas doing?  I haven’t seen him in a while.” Vanitas asked.  “Oh, he’s doing fine.  I’m sure he is.  But I’m not sure if he knows of what’s happening, but I’m sure he’ll eventually find out sooner or later.”  she said softly.

“I see.  Well, don’t sweat it, I’m sure he’s bound to come back soon.  He’d never leave you hanging for too long.” Vanitas said with a smirk.  At that, Xion smiled and nodded.  “Hehe, you know what?  Your right!” she replied enthusiastically.  And with that, they headed towards the castle, which was a short distance away, but then they stopped, for they noticed that some kind of ceremony was taking place.  In the distance, a woman stood up, no doubt the queen, and she proclaimed these words: “Attention everyone, the royal contest for Merida’s hand in marriage is about to begin!  Take your seats everyone, and all contestants proceed to the archery field!”  Vanitas and Xion wondered how this contest would play out, so they decided to stay put where they were so they wouldn’t interrupt the festivities.

(Start Song Here)

“Hand in marriage?” Xion asked, looking a bit troubled.  “But why do they have to make a contest for her hand in marriage?  She’s not some object, she’s a person!” she said, feeling slightly irritated.  Vanitas shook his head.  “Remember that every world has its tradition and culture and other such things.  There’s no use in trying to object with this.  We can’t meddle in their affairs.  We can only sit and watch.” he said wisely, which was unusual for him, since he would normally be spurring into action already.  But as unusual as it was for him to say this, Xion had to admit that he was right.  And so, they stood and watched the contest unfold.  First, a considerably big man by the name of MacGuffin, who seemed a bit absent minded, took position and prepared to fire an arrow.  When he did, he failed to hit the target, so up next was a spry and cocky man by the name of  Macintosh.  He looked to be quite the ladiesman, and he even gave a wink to the crowd of women behind.  He then concentrated and narrowed his eyes as he positioned his bow, ready to fire.

The crowd went silent, and as he fired the arrow, everyone saw it fail to hit the target as well.  Young Macintosh was outraged, and he started screaming and pulling his hair and making a scene.  Vanitas was enjoying this and quite much.  “Ha, what an idiot! I’ve never seen anyone with such bad aim!” he said, taking his breath in between laughs.  Xion simply stood there, her eyes narrowed to the archery field, looking closely at the contest.  And now only one contestant remained, going by the name of Wee Dingwall.  His appearance suggested that he was quite dumb, and well, he didn’t really look like the most formidable warrior around.  He struggled to take the arrow out of his quiver, and as a result, all of his arrows fell to the ground, and everyone else was laughing, and you could imagine Vanitas’ reaction.  He was practically dying of laughter.  After a bit more struggling, Wee Dingwall managed to get the arrow on his bow, but then it leaned to the side.  With time dragging on, the king shouted: “Will you fire already!?”  At that, Wee Dingwall got startled, but unbelievably enough, his arrow hit the target perfectly, exactly right at the center!

Everyone stood at a standstill, in disbelief, and then they all cheered.  Vanitas had to shake his head and stop laughing, for he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.  “Ha, that wimp won?  I feel sorry for this Merida girl.  Looks like she’s stuck with bucktooth there.” he said, shaking his head.  But Xion pointed out to the field.  “Wait, there’s one more!” she shouted.  “One more?” Vanitas asked.  They both looked onward towards the field, for apparently the crowd and the contestants weren’t expecting this either.  The king and queen were also taken aback by this.  The contestant approaching was hooded, and soon after, that person unveiled its hood, revealing to be none other than Merida!  “Whoa, your kidding!” Xion said in shock.  Vanitas simply smirked and crossed his arms.  “She’s taking matters into her own hands.  Impressive.” he said in a confident tone.

Merida, standing defiantly, placed her family banner on the ground, and then she looked towards the queen and she took out her bow and prepared her arrows.  “I am Merida of Clan Dunbroch, and I’ll be competing for my own hand!” she proclaimed.  Everyone was in shock, and the queen, infuriated, stood up and started walking towards Merida.  “What in the world are you thinking!?” the queen exclaimed.  But Merida ignored her and started firing her arrows.  She fired each arrow, hitting the targets without fail, much to the awe of the crowd.  Vanitas and Xion were equally impressed, noticing the deadly accuracy and precision that Merida showed with each shot.  Then came the final target circle, and she struggled a bit to extend her arm, but she tore her dress to increase mobility, took a deep breath, and prepared to fire her final arrow.  “Stop this at once Merida!” the queen protested, but Merida ignored her and fired the final arrow.

(End Song Here)

And just like that, like if the whole world had suddenly gone in slow motion, the arrow flew gracefully towards the final target circle, piercing Wee Dingwall’s arrow and practically piercing through the target circle.  Everyone was dumbstruck, and when Merida turned around, her face beamed with pride and confidence, her eyes met the queen’s, who was furious to no end.  The queen took her away from the crowd  “Uh oh, I think she’s in trouble.” Xion said quietly.  Vanitas simply crossed his arms and his face looked like he didn’t care in the slightest.  “Well, that doesn’t matter to me.  As I said, we don’t meddle in the affairs and traditions of other people.  She’s going to pay the price for it.  Let’s just wait until the crowd’s died down a bit so we can ask that burly king over there if he’s seen Sora, Donald and Goofy.” he said.  Xion pouted and she looked away.  “Your such a jerk!  But all right, we’ll do that.  After all, the crowd would get suspicious of us, so the least we could do is wait.” she said with a sigh.  And wait they did, but no sooner that they had sat down, numerous Unborn and Heartless appeared on the field all of a sudden.  “It looks like we won’t have to wait so much after all!” Xion suddenly said.

(Start Song Here)

“Well, it looks like your right about that.” Vanitas said with a smirk, and then they both summoned their Keyblades.  They both headed towards the field, as the crowd was dispersing out of panic and surprise.  The only ones that remained were the king, the Macintoshes, Dingwalls and MacGuffins, who were ready to battle.  “Looks like you could use some help!” Xion said to the warriors while smiling.  The king made a nod of appreciation and he smirked.  “Aye lassie, we’d appreciate the help very much!” he said, and with that, they all gathered round, so that the Unborn and Heartless wouldn’t surround them.  Xion observed their enemy closely, and noticed that they had a different form.  They had lines that covered their bodies, much like Viking decorations, and it made them look like they were the dark version of Viking warriors.  “All right, let’s do this!” Vanitas shouted, and he sent forth a wave of darkness with his Keyblade, and in the aftermath of his attack, he snapped his fingers, and in the distance, numerous Unversed came to the rescue.  They trampled onto the battlefield almost instantly, like a flood of water crashing on unsuspecting people.

The Unversed practically consumed most of the Unborn and Heartless that were scattered about, and while they were doing so, Vanitas and the others would take care of the enemies closest to them.  “To victory!” Macintosh said, and he, along with his son, charged forward, taking out the hordes of foes with great skill.  At either side, the MacGuffins were also making short work of the enemy with their brute strength, and at the far back, the Dingwalls were furiously lashing out at their unfortunate victims, as Wee Dingwall entered a crazed frenzy, biting every Heartless and Unborn that got in his way.  “Whoa, now that’s a creepy one.” Vanitas said, feeling disturbed by what he was seeing.  “Look out Vanitas!” Xion said, as she swooped down from above and performed her Aeroga Raid attack, which sent numerous of their foes flying.

The king was one of the most fearsome in the battlefield.  Xion noticed that he had a peg leg, but that didn’t stop him from fighting to the death.  He pummeled their enemies with his shield and with a mighty swing of his sword, displaying his bravery and skill as a warrior.  “No wonder he’s the king!” Xion said in awe.  As the battle raged on, the enemy was being chipped down one by one.  The battle was turning in favor of our heroes, and they made short work of the remaining enemies, making sure to pummel them and show no mercy.  “Now Vanitas!” Xion said, and with that, they both performed an attack in unison, forming spears of fire and ice that pointed at all sides, and then they launched said spears, as if they were heat seeking missiles, and when each one hit their target, a small explosion made sure to devastate their enemies that were scattered in the battlefield.

(End Song Here)

Just when Vanitas was about to take down the final batch, the Unborn and Heartless suddenly stopped, as if they had heard someone call them, and a few seconds after, they started retreating.  “Ha ha, victory is ours lads!” the king said triumphantly, and everyone else cheered, for they had overpowered the enemy.  Vanitas and Xion sighed of relief, and then the king came towards them.  “You two, I am grateful for your aid in this battle.  You are more than welcome in my humble home!  Is there anything that I can help you with?” he said in an appreciative and confident tone.  Xion stepped forward and bowed.  “Your Majesty, as a matter of fact, there is something that we need your help with.  Something that me and my friend Vanitas believe you can be of aid to us.” she said courteously.  “All right then, tell me what is your request.” the king said, eager to hear what Xion had to say.  Vanitas then suddenly came in between them and then he cleared his throat.  “Your Majesty, you do realize we were under attack just a few seconds ago?  I think it’s best if we go inside the castle, that way we’ll be safer.”  Vanitas said calmly.  “Aye, you have a point there lad.  Come then, let us go into my castle so we can discuss of what I can be of aid to you.” the king said enthusiastically.

----------------------------------------

And so, Vanitas and Xion have successfully come to the aid of the king of Dunbroch.  Will the king be able to help them find Sora, Donald and Goofy?  And what was Merida trying to prove by defying the queen?  That shall wait, because in the next chapter, Ventus, Trish and Kyle arrive at a new world!  What will they encounter?  Find out in Chapter 26: “One Boy’s Wish.”

Chapter 26: One Boy’s Wish

After traveling the inter-world crossroads and coming upon Jexana, who declared her desire for Ventus, the trio was able to successfully enter a new world.  They didn’t know what world they were in just yet, but they were just happy to be out of the inter-world crossroads.  Trish was still feeling a tint of jealousy after having seen Jexana kiss Ventus, but she knew that he hadn’t been the one who started the kiss. She knew that he loved her, but she still couldn’t get the image out of her mind.  But she didn’t talk about it, for Ventus and Kyle’s sakes.  After wandering about for a bit, Kyle noticed a distant light.  “Hey guys, I think we’ll find out soon enough where exactly are we!” he said excitedly as he ran towards the light.  “Wait Kyle, you don’t know what’s out there!”  Trish shouted, and as she and Ventus followed him, they noticed that they seemed to be in some kind of city.  But it wasn’t just any normal city.  It was a spectacular and technical wonder to behold.  It seemed ages ahead of its time, with flying cars and technological advancements that would make any person drop their jaw.

Just then, Ventus quickly ducked behind a crate.  “Guys, someone’s coming, hide!” he said in a whisper, and they all made sure to be well hidden.  They heard hushed voices a little further forward, voices of teenagers, from what they could make out.  “Remember your promise, you said that if I help you, you’ll take me to see my Mom!” one of the teens said.  The other one seemed in a rush and replied hoarsely.  “Yeah, sure, I know, but come on, we’ve got to find something for you to use so no one will know that you’re from the past!” he said.  Ventus immediately felt numb.  “The boy wants to see his mother…” he said softly, as he started to remember the vision he had about the last time he saw his parents.  Trish and Kyle immediately noticed Ventus’ sadness, and they felt great sympathy towards him.

The voices had suddenly gone silent, and Kyle slowly peeked his head out to see if the coast was clear.  He noticed that the boys were still there.  One of them had a lot of blonde hair that stood on end, and he had big, round glasses and wore casual clothes.  His appearance suggested he was a smart kind of person.  The other boy had short, black hair, and he seemed to more of a wild shot.  Just looking at his face, you could tell that he was a troublemaker.  Kyle slowly crept towards another crate, closer to them, to hear on their conversation.  “We need to fix the time machine, we have to!” the black haired one said, and that’s when Kyle came to.  He then snuck back to Ventus and Trish and smiled.  “Hey guys, that blonde kid came with that black haired boy in a time machine! If we help them, they could help us find your parents, Dad!”

At that, Ventus’ face beamed brightly at the possibility.  “You know what?  Your right!” he said with a smile.  Trish nodded and then she peeked her head up to see if the boys were still there.  “Well, if we’re going to help them, let’s best do it now before they leave.” she said urgently.  They all nodded in unison, but before they headed out, Ventus dragged both of them down.  “Guys, remember, we can’t tell them we’re from another world, or else, there will be more complications.  Let’s just say that we live here, okay?” he asked softly.  “Right.” Trish and Kyle said in unison.  But before they could go towards the boys, something suddenly startled them and they ran away.  “Oh no! What happened?” Kyle asked in distress.  “I think you’ll find the answer behind you!” Trish said as she looked back and quickly summoned her Keyblade.  Ventus also summoned his Keyblade, and they saw small Unborn in the shape of bowler hats, with razor sharp blades.  “We have to defeat these things as fast as we can before we lose sight of the boys!” Ventus said urgently.

(Start Song Here)

“Right, now come on, let’s go!” Kyle shouted, as he was the first to attack the airborne Unborn.  Ventus and Trish followed suit, and they used rapid fire spells to back Kyle up.  They made short work of their enemies, but soon more emerged to take their place, and now they knew they had to be more aggressive.  “Mom, Dad, now!” Kyle shouted.  With that, Ventus and Trish nodded in unison, and they both fired crystal shards out of their Keyblades in a straight line, and then Kyle divided the crystals into a wide circle, and he focused all of his energy, causing the crystals to act as lasers, and they started spinning, and then they spun more rapidly, until the lasers the crystals emitted transformed into one deadly omni-laser, quickly dispatching the remaining enemies, until not a single one was seen.  Kyle landed carefully to the ground, and then he smiled and pounded his chest in pride.  “Our new technique worked!  Pretty awesome, don’t you think?” he said excitedly.  Ventus nodded.  “You know it!”  Suddenly, they heard another noise, and they quickly turned around, ready for another fight, but then they noticed it was the two boys who had spotted them.

(End Song Here)

“Hey, thanks you guys, we sure got in a pickle there!  Those monsters must belong to the Bowler Hat Guy!  Ugh, he’s so annoying.  Anyways, again, thanks very much. My name’s Wilbur.” the black haired boy said, offering his hand for a handshake.  Ventus and the others unsummoned their Keyblades, and he smiled and shook his hand.  “This is Trish, and this is Kyle, and I’m Ventus.  Glad we could help!” he said reassuringly.  Wilbur smiled and then he pulled the blonde haired boy next to him. “Oh, and by the way, this here is my friend Lewis.” he said, gesturing towards the blonde haired boy.  Trish nodded and glanced at them both.  “I see. Well then Wilbur and Lewis, before these monsters appeared, we overheard you talking about fixing a time machine, right?” she asked.  “Uh oh, we’ve been found out!” Wilbur gasped, suddenly panicking.  Lewis rolled his eyes and calmed down Wilbur.  “Yes, your right.” he said.

Wilbur sighed and then he took a deep breath.  “Okay, since you know about this already, I should tell you the whole story, but you cannot, under any circumstances, tell anyone of this, or I will be in serious trouble, understand!?”  he said in an urgent tone.  Ventus, Trish and Kyle nodded to keep silence, and then Wilbur proceeded to explain the situation to them, and after everything was clarified, Kyle made sure to remember every detail.  “So, basically this Bowler Hat Guy took your other time machine, and now you want Lewis, who’s from the past, to help you get it back by fixing this time machine you came from?” he asked, just to make sure he had everything memorized.  Lewis nodded.  “Yeah, that’s right.  And after I help him, he’ll take me to see my Mom!” he said with confidence.  Kyle looked at him curiously.  “But don’t you live with your mother?” he asked.  Lewis looked down sadly, his face bearing a grim expression.

“Well, you see, the thing is, I’ve been an orphan ever since I was a baby.  I know that I had a mom, but I was left in the orphanage without ever knowing why.  And well, now that I’ve seen what Wilbur’s time machine is capable of, I’ve got to help him retrieve the other time machine so I can go back to the past and see my mom…I need to see her.” he said.  Kyle stayed silent for a few moments, and then he looked at Lewis.  “I-I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” he said, feeling remorse for having asked Lewis about his past.  Ventus seemed still for a moment and then he came back to himself.  “Lewis, I know what you’re feeling.  I’ve been an orphan too…and I’m searching for my parents…so we’ll help you.” he said, feeling sympathy for Lewis’ situation.  “You will?  That’s great!” Lewis said excitedly.  Wilbur then nodded and walked forward.  “All right, come on guys, let’s go to my house, that way we can be able to get the tools we need so Lewis can fix our time machine.” he said, sounding rather in a rush.  Ventus, Trish and Kyle followed Wilbur and Lewis, staying quiet for the entire time, feeling that no words need to be said at the moment.  Ventus knew in his heart he had to see this through now, he had to.

As time passed by, Ventus, Trish and Kyle had been talking with Lewis and Wilbur, all the while discussing simple things, and hopes about the future.  Ventus immediately felt more sympathetic towards Lewis the more he got to know him.  It’s like he could see his own troubled self, mirroring his own absence of a mother and a father.  Now he wondered about how Lewis had such bright spirits.  “He has a good heart.” he said to himself, and suddenly, he froze.  He tried gasping for air, but it was no use!  The minute he stretched out his hand, Trish, Kyle and the others noticed him, but it was too late to help him now, for he had fallen into unconsciousness, unable to escape the freezing feeling in his body.  As he struggled to open his eyes, he saw Jexana in the distance, smiling.  “Ventus…you may not love me, but rest assured…I will make you love me.  I will make you feel happy…because no one else can do that, and I won’t allow anyone else to do that…because you are my property…” she said in a seductive tone.  Ventus shook his head and clenched his fists.  “Shut up!  You don’t know what your talking about!” he shouted out to her.

(Start Song Here)

She simply smiled and continued staring into his eyes.  “I don’t think you understand the bigger picture here my sweet…no, you don’t seem to get it at all.” she said, sounding slightly disappointed.  She was right though, Ventus didn’t understand any of this, nor did he want to.  “What are you talking about!?  I demand an explanation!” he shouted in a demanding tone. Jexana suddenly disappeared and reappeared right in front of him, and she touched his face.  “Oh, I love it when you act like this.  Mmm, your such a man!  It makes me love you even more.” she replied, gently rubbing his neck.  Ventus of course felt repulsed.  He already had a woman to love, and that was Trish.  From where he stood, he didn’t need anyone else.  But that’s something Jexana wasn’t going to take to heart.  Now Ventus was desperately trying to wake up, seemingly unable to.

“Well, since I love you so much, I should just tell you.” she said, and with that, she turned around and her hair waved softly.  “You see, back when I kissed you in the inter-world crossroads, it wasn’t just an ordinary kiss…I implanted a piece of my essence, of my heart, into yours.  So whether you like it or not, you are now a part of me just as much as I’m a part of you.  Nothing can change that.  Not even your beloved Trish.  My heart will slowly envelop yours until you’ve fallen in love with me completely.” she said as she smirked, her determined eyes flaring with excitement.  Ventus, on the other hand, was shocked and feeling horror at what she just said.  “No, that can’t be right!” Ventus exclaimed.  But Jexana simply put her hands on her hips and glanced at Ventus over her shoulder.  “I’m afraid you don’t have any say in the matter…but, seeing as how I’m generous, I’ll let you attend your family business first.  It’s only fair.” she said.

Ventus, unable to find a way to react, simply stood there, shocked at what just transpired.  “No, I refuse to accept this!  I will never love you!” Ventus shouted, and at that, Jexana’s eyes saddened, and tears formed in her eyes.  “Why can’t you love me…?  Is it really that hard?  All you have to do is leave Trish and come with me…but anyways, i-it doesn’t matter…you will fall in love with me anyway because of the spell I cast on you…” she said softly, and with that, Ventus woke up with a gasp.  When he darted his head left and right, he couldn’t see anything at first, but then, after his vision cleared, he saw Trish, Kyle, Lewis and Wilbur with worried expressions on their faces.  “Ventus…what happened?” Trish asked in a worried tone.  At first, Ventus wanted to tell her about Jexana, but he knew it would only make her feel bad, and she would feel more hurt, so he just decided to drop the matter altogether and come up with an excuse.  “I-I saw faint images of my parents…but I couldn’t see that much…” he said as calmly as possible.  Luckily enough, everyone believed him.  “Anyways, we can’t waste any time, let’s go to Wilbur’s house!” Ventus said, and with that, they pressed on.

(End Song Here)

---------------------------------------------------

Why is Jexana so obsessed over Ventus?  What could she gain by earning his love when he already has Trish?  And will Ventus be able to find out more clues as to what happened to his parents?  That is all a mystery, but next chapter, Riku, Dawn, Kairi and Mickey meet the father of Pocahontas, hoping to seek guidance as to where Sora, Donald and Goofy are being held captive.  Will they get any leads?  Stay tuned for Chapter 27: “The Search Continues.”

Chapter 27: The Search Continues

Having walked a long way through the forest path and down into the valley, Pocahontas had told Riku, Dawn, Kairi and Mickey about her village and her tribe, and about the many traditions that they performed.  All the while, there was a refreshing breeze coming from downhill, a breeze that could soothe even the most roughest of souls.  After a few short seconds, they arrived to the village, where the other Indians were tending to their crops and the children were playing hide and seek.  It was a wondrous place, a place that Riku found very comforting.  He looked at Dawn and blushed as he looked at how the clothes she wore complemented her body.  He then looked away so that Dawn wouldn’t be embarrassed, since she had been self-conscious about her clothes when they arrived in this world.  Kairi and Mickey were ahead of them with Pocahontas, and then an experienced looking Indian with elegant clothing had come out of a nearby tent. No doubt it was Pocahontas’ father.  At that, Riku and the others bowed, and Pocahontas hugged her father.

Pocahontas then faced Riku and the others and she smiled.  “Everyone, meet my father, chief of the Powhatan tribe.” she said humbly.  Dawn stood up and bowed her head to Chief Powhatan and spoke graciously.  “It is an honor to meet you, Chief Powhatan.” she said.  The chief simply raised his hand and smiled.  “You may all rise.  There is no need for such formalities.  I can tell just by looking at you that you are kind and honest people.  Welcome to the Majestic Valley, home to us, the Powhatan tribe.  What brings you to our peaceful village?” he said with a kind voice that symbolized his wisdom and authority as chief.  At that, Riku and the others stood up, and Kairi stepped forward, bowing her head down.  “Honorable Chief Powhatan, we seek your guidance, for we are searching for three missing friends.” she said.

The chief cordially invited them to his tent.  “Come, friends.  Let us discuss this matter in my tent, where we can be more comfortable.” he said, and with that, they went into the tent, and after having discussed the situation and the fate that Sora, Donald and Goofy had faced, the chief looked at them sadly.  “I am sorry my friends, but I have not seen these people of which you speak.  None of our tribe has seen these people, but worry not.  I am sure that with time, you shall find them.  Listen to your hearts, and let them guide you on the way towards your friends, and only then will you be able to find them.” Powhatan said, nodding reassuringly.  But all of a sudden, they heard the screams of the villagers outside, for apparently, something bad was happening outside.

“What is that?” the chief spoke, feeling alarmed, and Riku and the others quickly stood up, knowing that it was most likely the Unborn who had attacked.  “We’ll take care of this!” Riku assured, and they all summoned their Keyblades and went outside.  But when they looked side to side, they didn’t see any Unborn or Heartless roaming about.  Instead, they saw a hooded individual who unraveled its cloak, revealing itself to be a man.  “Well, it seems that I’ve found you all.  It saves me the trouble of hunting you down one by one.” the man said while smirking.  Dawn clenched her fists and pointed her Keyblade at him.  “Who are you!?” she asked demandingly.  The man turned his attention to Dawn, and he simply kept smiling.  “I am Xeromo, wielder of mist and shadows, and your death bringer!” he said as he summoned a long chain that emanated a dark aura.  He cracked his chain like if it was a whip, and he sent it flying towards Dawn, but Riku got in the way and blocked the attack. “You won’t hurt her!” Riku said, standing defiantly and ready to fight against Xeromo.

Suddenly, Pocahontas came out of the tent, spear in hand, along with Flit and Meeko.  “Gosh Pocahontas, you should stay inside, it’s too dangerous!” Mickey said with a concerned look on his face.  Pocahontas merely shook her head and smiled.  “No, I shall help you fight against this foe.  You helped me, now I shall help you!” she said, confidence ringing true in her words.  Seeing her determination, Mickey decided not to try to talk her out of joining the fight.  She was iron willed, of that much he could be certain, so he knew that she was doing what her heart was telling her to do.  Xeromo had an amused look on his face, and then transformed his chain into a crossbow, with multiple arrows at the ready.  “Fools, you are all meaningless.  I’ll take you out, here and now!” he said as he started firing the arrows with deadly accuracy and precision.  Everyone dodged the arrows, but just barely.  The only one who could keep up with Xeromo’s attacks was Pocahontas, who seemed to have no problem dodging the arrows, as she did so effortlessly.  Flit and Meeko were skittering about, trying to get Xeromo’s attention, but he was dead set on his targets.

“Your not going to get away from us! Where are Sora, Donald and Goofy!?” Mickey asked, strafing to the side so he could get Xeromo’s attention.  But Xeromo simply smirked, and he then reloaded his crossbow quickly and started firing arrows again.  “Fool, if you think I’m going to tell you, then you have another thing coming!” he said as he continued his assault on them.  This time, he transformed his crossbow into a shuriken, and he threw it with deadly accuracy, causing it to follow Mickey as if it were a homing projectile.  Dawn quickly disposed of the shuriken and sent it bouncing back to its master.  “Your fight isn’t just with Mickey, it’s with all of us!  Pocahontas, now!” she shouted, and with that, Pocahontas came from behind and attacked Xeromo with her spear, and for a moment he flinched from the pain, but then he punched Pocahontas in the gut, sending her flying towards the tilling fields.

“Ha, your feeble attempts at strategy are ridiculous, almost pathetic really.  You cannot escape.” Xeromo said with a smirk, and with that, he charged the energy of his shuriken and then made a mist field, almost like if it was a barrier, and he started to suffocate everyone.  One by one, they fell.  Kairi was unable to dispel the barrier, for she fell unconscious, and Mickey was suffocated and unable to move.  Pocahontas was still knocked out cold, but Dawn was the only one standing.  Xeromo was impressed.  “Interesting.  This spell is enough to bring down your friends, but it does not seem to have an effect on you. I’ll be sure to fix that.”  he said, and as he raised his hand in the air, the mist thickened, and Dawn wasn’t able to stay on her feet, as she was now on her knees.  She was unable to stand, but she was still able to resist the power of the mist.  “What!?  Impossible!” Xeromo exclaimed, now feeling anxious.

When he tried to amplify the effects of the mist one more time, a radiant light began emanating from Dawn’s eyes, a bright, white color eclipsing the entirety of her eyes.  Xeromo was taken aback all of a sudden, for apparently, he hadn’t expected this kind of outcome to the battle.  The mist let go of its hold over her, and she levitated upwards slightly, and her Flaming Crown Keyblade took on a more fiery form, with the bursts of flame serving as the form of the Keyblade.  The bronze crown grew ever more, and the hilt took the form of Phoenix wings, and she stood face to face with Xeromo, who was now witless and genuinely scared. “Xeromo, your crimes against the worlds bears the punishment of death.  Your actions have caused an imbalance of light and darkness, a fragile and slowly decaying balance.  For your actions, you must pay the price, and suffer for your deeds.” Dawn said, in a voice that was not her own.  It’s like she had been possessed, and her voice sounded like three people were talking in unison.  “What!?  N-no, this isn’t possible!  Y-you can’t be…” Xeromo said to himself, only now realizing that he was facing defeat.  Now he was the one who could not escape.

Before he could even blink, Dawn held her Keyblade slightly to the side, and then from her hand, she shot an immense beam of energy, of light and darkness, that bound Xeromo in place, making him unable to move.  As she walked closer to him, daggers of light appeared from all sides and hung in the air, pointing straight at Xeromo.  Then, with a slight tilt of her Keyblade, she summoned a spirit that resembled an ancient knight.  Xeromo couldn’t believe what he was seeing, and now he was helpless and unable to do anything. “P-please, have mercy!  I don’t want to die!” he exclaimed, pleading for his life.  But Dawn remained motionless and unfeeling, and her face didn’t show the slightest bit of hesitation or remorse, and then she held Xeromo by the throat and started choking him.  “You are nothing but a worthless piece of trash.  You are destined to wander the lonely plain of twilight…forever…” she said, her nails almost digging into Xeromo’s neck.  The air was now getting thick, and Xeromo could feel his life slipping away slowly.  “You can’t be…you can’t be the descendant of the goddess!  You just can’t be!” Xeromo said, struggling to speak.

And then, his neck snapped.  As Dawn let go, Xeromo’s lifeless body fell to the ground, the look of terror lingering in his face, and as Dawn placed her feet on the ground, Xeromo faded away into nothingness.  But suddenly, Dawn’s heart began to beat.  Her eyes turned back to normal, and now her body felt heavy, and she fell down, tired and unable to move.  “R-Riku…w-what happened to me…?” she muttered to herself not knowing that the events that happened were by her hand, but she wouldn’t be able to think about it any longer, for she felt her being slip into unconsciousness.  As her eyes closed shut, all she could think about was Riku.  It was the only thing that gave her solace and happiness.  She knew she had to wake up to see Riku again.  But what she didn’t know is that she had vast power hidden inside her, a power too great and too terrible to imagine.

(End Song Here)

Hours later, Dawn opened her eyes slowly, and she heard the hushed voices of the Powhatan Indians outside, and she caught a brief glimpse of the chief, who was outside near a Powhatan warrior.  From what she heard, the warrior’s name was Kocoum.  She then felt a sharp pain in her head, and she struggled a bit to sit up.  “Are you okay?” a voice said near her. When she turned around, she saw that Riku was by her side, holding her hand.  She blushed and leaned closer to him.  “Yes, although my head hurts a lot.  How about you?” she asked.  Riku smiled and touched her face.  “I’m fine.” he answered, easing Dawn’s worries.  “And what about Kairi and Mickey and Pocahontas?  Are they okay?” she asked, feeling concerned about them.  Riku leaned closer to dawn and whispered.  “They’re all right.  You saved us.” he said with a smile.  “I did?  But the last thing that I remember was that I passed out.” Dawn stated.

Riku held Dawn’s hand tightly, and he comforted her and held her close.  “Whatever you did out there, you saved us.  And I want to thank you for it.” he said in a whisper, and with that, he held Dawn’s face with both of his hands and he leaned in and kissed her passionately.  Dawn, shocked by the spur of the moment, slowly closed her eyes, tears of happiness rolling down her cheeks.  “I love you so much Riku!” Dawn whispered to him while they kissed.  Riku kept holding her closer, and he smiled as they kissed.  “I love you too Dawn.” he whispered, and they kept enjoying their loving embrace.  Time stood still for them, and they didn’t want this moment to end.  But Dawn didn’t know about her hidden powers, she didn’t know that she was the one who had defeated Xeromo, and she didn’t have the slightest idea about the true power she wielded.  All she could think of now was being with Riku and enjoying their embrace.  When they pulled away from the kiss, Dawn blushed, and she looked into Riku’s eyes while smiling.  “I’m just so happy that your safe.  I couldn’t bear it if something horrible happened!” she said in an innocent tone, and at that, Riku hugged her.  “Don’t worry.  We’ll all be okay.” he said softly.

--------------------------------------------------------

How is it that Dawn has failed to notice the immense power that sleeps within her?  Will she ever find out about this great power?  Nothing is certain, for Riku and the others weren’t able to witness the events due to Xeromo’s powers of mist.  What else will happen?  Keep on waiting, for next chapter, Vanitas and Xion hope to find clues to Sora, Donald and Goofy’s location.  Will the king of Dunbroch be able to be of assistance to them?  Stay tuned for Chapter 28: “An Ally Comes To The Fold!”

My, my, what power does she possess? If she were to encounter the Child of Kingdom Hearts (if he appears or is at all), how would that work out? No god's or goddess's power can surpass Kingdom Hearts and of the Child of Kingdom Hearts. Awesome nonetheless! Keep going I say!

Good evening everyone, I hope your all doing okay!  I just wanted to make this post to apologize for the lack of chapters.  Worry not my loyal readers, I do not have any writer's block, and I'm not being lazy on the story.  The reason for the lack of chapters is because my brother Tommy and sister in law Kristina came from the US to visit, and well, I've been spending time with them these days, so that's why I haven't been able to post any chapters, and for that, I apologize.  But worry not, for new chapters will be on the way soon, so keep on reading my fellow readers, for I will complete this story just like I've completed all my other ones!  Until next time, please look forward to more chapters of my story!  Thank you for reading! :D

Hope you have fun while they visit.

BTW, if they came from the US, where do you live, then? (Hope that's not invasion of your privacy.)

Yeah, I'm having a blast!  They're great company. :)  And I'm from Puerto Rico, though I was born in the US. I'll post new chapters of my story as soon as I can! ^^

Hey there everyone, how’s it going?  Wow, it’s been one heck of a while since I’ve posted chapters, hasn’t it?  Well, for that I apologize.  My brother and sister in law came to visit from the US and I wanted to spend time with them, so I took a little break from the story! Well now I’ve started my semifinal semester in college, so I wrote this chapter today. I hope you all enjoy this chapter and continue to keep reading my story!  Well then, without further ado, here’s the next chapter! :D

Chapter 28: An Ally Comes To The Fold!

Vanitas and Xion had entered Dunbroch Castle in the hopes that the king would be able to tell them of Sora, Donald and Goofy’s location.  After discussing the subject, the king shook his head and made a grim expression on his face.  “My apologies friends, but I don’t know where these friends of yours are.  I wish you the best of luck in finding them.” he said, and with that, Vanitas and Xion bowed and made their way out of the castle.  “Well, the king wasn’t of any help, that’s for sure.” Vanitas said, looking around, as if searching for something.  Xion sighed and looked up towards the sky and she noticed that it had started to rain, and it was getting dark.  “Well, it looks like we’ll have to continue our search elsewhere.” she said with a smile, and with that, she and Vanitas headed towards the forest path, back from where they came.  As they walked towards the circle of stone pillars they had come across, they saw the small blue spirit flames appear again.  Xion was the first to notice them.

“Look Vanitas, it’s another one of those spirits!” Xion exclaimed, and she wasted no time on following it.  Vanitas simply followed Xion, as they started following the spirit flames.  They kept on wandering off the forest path for what seemed to be a considerable while, when all of a sudden, they saw Merida, with ragged clothes and a tired expression on her face.  The princess stood back and she drew her bow and prepared an arrow, ready to fire.  “Who are you?” she asked cautiously.  Xion quickly raised her hands and stepped forward.  “Don’t shoot!  We’re not enemies!  My name is Xion, and this is Vanitas.” Xion said, hoping Merida wouldn’t shoot them.  After what seemed to be minutes, Merida slowly put her bow down.

“How did you know where to find me?” Merida asked cautiously, as if she had expected someone to chase after her.  Considering she was a princess, it wasn’t that much of a surprise.  Xion shook her head and shrugged.  “We didn’t find you.  We followed the blue flame spirits, and they lead us here.” she explained, and at that, Merida’s eyes lit up.  “That means you’ve seen the will-o’-the-wisps!”  she said softly, while Vanitas looked at her curiously.  “Will-o’-the-wisps?” he asked, making sure he got the name right.  Merida nodded and she folded her arms.  “Yes.  Legend says that the will-o’-the-wisps will guide you to your fate!  And it seems they know your fate!” she said with confidence.

Vanitas, on the other hand, wasn’t too sure about it, but he didn’t say anything, for arguing over this topic wouldn’t lead to anything.  He stepped forward and glanced over at Xion for a moment, and then he looked at Merida again.  “Merida, we need your help.  We’re searching for three of our friends, whose names are Sora, Donald and Goofy.  Have you seen any suspicious people with our captured friends?” Vanitas asked, hoping that Merida would at least know something.  And as luck would have it, she did seem to have seen something.  “Well, I do remember seeing a strange figure, way back in the forest, walking with about two more strange people, but I didn’t see any of your friends.  The three strange people were wearing black hoods if I recall.” she said.  Vanitas nodded.  “All right, thanks, that’s all we need to know.  Come on Xion, we have to head deeper into the forest.” he said in an urgent tone.  Xion nodded, and as she turned around to say goodbye to Merida, she noticed that she was already gone.

Continuing on their way, Xion kept thinking about Merida.  She glanced back and saw the castle in the distance.  “I hope she’ll be okay…” Xion whispered softly, and Vanitas glanced over his shoulder at her and then turned around.  “Don’t worry.  That girl is tough.  If anything, it’s those people at the castle I’m worried about.  Now come on, we don’t have any time to waste.” he said gruffly.  Xion then turned around and nodded.  “Right!” and with that, they headed deeper into the forest.  As time passed, they searched left, right, up and down, but no sign of their enemies was to be found anywhere, let alone any signs of Sora, Donald and Goofy.  Suddenly, they heard a soft bristle in the bushes, as if someone had quickly passed by.  Xion and Vanitas immediately summoned their Keyblades, ready to fight. “Who’s there!?” Xion shouted, demanding whoever was there to show themselves. After they heard a twig snap, they noticed someone coming out of the bushes, and just as they were going to attack, the person raised his arms.  “Wait, don’t attack!  It’s me!” the voice shouted.

(Start Song Here)

Vanitas stopped in time to notice who it was, and then he smirked.  “Well I’ll be.  If it isn’t Dexeres.  For a second there, I was going to cut you into pieces.  It’s a good thing you shouted though.” he said as he unsummoned his Keyblade and crossed his arms.  Xion sighed of relief and smiled.  “It’s been a long time Dexeres.  How have you been?” she asked warmly.  Dexeres brushed off some leaves that were on his shoulder.  “Well, I can’t complain.  Although things have been bad througout the worlds.  I’m sure all of you are aware of the situation by now, correct?” he asked with a tired expression on his face.  Vanitas and Xion both nodded in unison, and Dexeres then looked left and right then sat down.  “I tried to see if I could contact Roxas, Terra and Aqua, but I haven’t been able to get in touch with them…it’s something that troubles me.” he said in a concerned tone, his face clearly showing his worry.

As he uttered those words, Xion felt breathless for a moment.  “R-Roxas?  No contact…?” she said to herself in her mind, and then she looked up at Vanitas, who also seemed concerned, and a moment of grim silence followed.  “I know it’s hard to believe, but I can’t find them.  I fear something may have happened to them.  You see, Roxas, Terra, Aqua and I had agreed to keep a close watch on the worlds, and the last time I saw them was before I headed towards the Dwarf Woodlands, and there, I fought someone by the name of Emmxett.  He had an Unborn force of considerable strength, but after I battled him, he took his Unborn with him.  After that, I tried to contact the others, but I couldn’t get to them.” he said, looking at his hand and clenching his fist.  Xion now looked even more worried, and she shook her head.  “No…this can’t be.  Do you think our friends might have…” she started to say, but Vanitas stopped her.  “No.  They aren’t the type of people to die easily.  I doubt they died, but their disappearance is something to worry about.” he said with a concerned look on his face.

Xion agreed, and they all stayed there, again, a grim silence following after.  Dexeres stood up and he leaned his back against a tree.  “We have to stay together.  Things will get worse.  I can feel it.” he said grimly.  Vanitas nodded.  “That’s right.  If we stick together, at least we have a better chance of knowing what’s going on.” he said, favoring Dexeres’ suggestion.  Xion put her hand on her chest and she closed her eyes and then nodded.  “All right, it’s settled.  We’ll travel together, and we’ll find all of our friends!” she said with determination.  Dexeres then walked towards them and looked at them.  “So, what of the others?” he asked.  Xion looked at him and explained how everyone had been split into teams to scout the worlds and find the root of these Unborn, to find out who was pulling the strings.  After explaining everything, including Sora, Donald and Goofy’s capture, Dexeres looked even more concerned.  “So, things are worse than I thought…and the worst thing is that we don’t even know what enemy we’re chasing after.” he said, and with that, they headed deeper into the forest.

(End Song Here)

Meanwhile, Sora, Donald and Goofy were in their cell.  They didn’t know if it was day or night, for it seemed that time itself had stretched thin, and they were starting to fear that they would never get out.  “Waak, this stinks!  We’re helpless here while the Unborn and the Heartless and these crazy guys go around other worlds hurting people!” Donald squawked, feeling desperate.  Goofy himself was rather glum, but he tried to keep his friends in high spirits.  “Don’t worry fellas, there’s gotta be a way out!” he said as cheerfully as he could.  Sora, on the other hand, was repeatedly bashing on the cell walls with his Keyblade, trying to see if he could make a dent in the bars, walls, anything that he could break so that they could escape.  Donald and Goofy were saddended, for Sora had been at this for days.  And it didn’t help that his wound hadn’t completely healed.  “W-we’ve got to…get out of here…we have to!” Sora said, struggling to catch his breath as he battered harder against the cell walls and bars, but the barrier preventing him from doing so wore him out, and he fell to the ground.

“Sora!” Donald and Goofy shouted in unison, as they headed towards their weakened friend.  “Gwarsh Sora, you have to stop forcing yourself too hard, or you’ll get even more hurt!” Goofy said with a concerned look on his face.  But Sora shook his head.  “Guys…I need to keep trying.” he said, and with that, he stood up, his body barely able to keep itself together, and he started bashing against the cell walls and bars anew.  Donald and Goofy then nodded in unison, and they began doing the same, as Donald cast powerful spells and Goofy threw his shield multiple times.  But no matter what they did, it wasn’t enough to break the barrier protecting the cell.  Then they heard a distant laugh, and they quickly shifted their eyes towards its source.  “How very impressive.” the voice said with delight.

(Start Song Here)

“Who’s there!?  Show yourself!” Donald shouted, and as they looked towards the dark hallway, they saw a man coming towards them, with his face unhooded.  He had bandages that formed the letter X on his face.  He had red eyes and brown hair, and the bandages covered his nose.  “Your persistence on escaping from this place is most impressive.  Your body is broken and scarred, and yet here you are, desperately trying to get out.  You, Sora, are truly something else.” he said while taking a seat across the cell where Sora, Donald and Goofy were watching him.  “I hope you’ve enjoyed your stay here at the castle.  It’d be a shame if our guests were displeased.” he said, and he almost sounded sincere, were it not for him being an evil person.  Goofy frowned and he looked at the man.  “Tell us.  Who are you?”

The man simply closed his eyes and smirked and lifted his legs up on a nearby stool, and then he opened his eyes and looked at the prisoners.  “I am Exolc, an elite warrior of Xylek’s group, and a good strategist if I do say so myself.  But that’s besides the point.  Master Xylek has great plans for you.  I’m sure that you three will perfectly play your parts.” he said calmly.  Sora glared at Exolc and then he stood up.  “What makes you think we’ll do anything for Xylek?” Sora shouted, falling down on one knee, as his wound was making him feel intense pain again.  Exolc smirked and then he stood up and walked towards their cell.  “Hmph, it’s not a question of you being asked to do Master Xylek a favor…you will do Master Xylek a favor.  Nothing you can do will stop Master Xylek from fulfilling his plan.” he said, calm and collected.  Sora, Donald and Goofy looked at Exolc defiantly, and at that, he snapped his fingers and caused them to get electrocuted, falling to the ground in pain and agony.  “Oh, that won’t do.” Exolc said.  “You three better be on your best behavior, and perhaps Master Xylek will reward you for your services.” he said, and with that, he disappeared instantly, leaving Sora, Donald and Goofy with immense pain.

(End Song Here)

Thank you for your comments everyone, I really appreciate it!  Now here’s another chapter of my story!  I hope that you all find it to your enjoyment! :D

Chapter 29: Undeniable Motivation

Ventus was feeling ill.  He had an overwhelming sense of fear in his mind, and he felt unsteady, as if he were about to fall at any moment.  If what Jexana had said was true, then Ventus was in deep trouble.  Not only was he under her spell, she could use him however she wanted.  But he didn’t let his concern show, because he didn’t want to cause Trish and Kyle more worry.  And so with that, the trio followed Wilbur and Lewis into Wilbur’s house, which was considerably big, and it seemed like a good place to live.  “Come on, over here!” Wilbur whispered, signaling the others to enter through the garage.  “Now all we have to do is start getting to work.  By the way Lewis, since you come from the past, we have to find you something that’ll keep your identity secret.  Ah, I’ve got it!  Here it is!” he said as he found a fruit hat and put it on Lewis’head.  “That should do it.” he said with a smile.  “Well, if you say so.” Lewis said, and then Ventus nodded.  “So, what can we do to help?” he asked reassuringly.  Before Wilbur could answer, they suddenly heard a clang at the back of the garage.

(Start Song Here)

“What was that!?” Kyle suddenly shouted, summoning his Keyblade.  Wilbur quickly raised his hands and shook them.  “No guys, don’t worry, I think it’s just Carl, the family robot!” he said.  And true enough, a robot did come out, golden colored and with stretchable limbs.  “Why hello there human life forms!  I am Carl, a proud worker and member of the Robinson family! Wow Wilbur, you brought in a lot of friends today!  Are you planning to do a sleep over?” he asked excitedly, shaking everyone’s hands and being courteous and polite.  Wilbur on the other hand, quickly covered Carl’s mouth.  “Pipe it down Carl, I need you to stay quiet while me and my friends fix the time machine!” he said urgently.  Carl quickly gasped. “Oh, don’t tell me, you smashed it?  Your mother won’t be happy about this!  Where’s the other time machine?” he asked, crossing his arms and tapping his foot on the ground.

At that, Wilbur suttered a bit and he twirled his fingers. “Uh, well, you see, it’s a long story, but, um, long story short…the bowler hat guy took the other time machine.” he said quietly.  Carl then put his hands on his face and he shook his head.  “Sweet mercy, this is a sticky situation.  You’d better get that time machine back, or your mother will give you a serious scolding!” he said in a worried tone.  Wilbur nodded and then presented Lewis.  “Look, I need you to cover for Lewis, he’s from the past, and I brought him here to help me fix the time machine, okay?” he said in a rather desperate tone.  Carl gasped again, and then he looked at Lewis, Ventus, Trish and Kyle.  “Could you excuse us for a moment?” Carl asked politely, and then he pulled Wilbur to the far side of the garage to talk in private.  Lewis turned to face Ventus, Trish and Kyle and smiled.  “Thanks for coming with us guys, we appreciate the help.”

(End Song Here)

Trish smiled and looked at Ventus and Kyle.  “Of course, we’re more than happy to help.  We’ll do all that we can.” she said with determination.  Ventus smiled, but then he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his heart, and he clenched his fists and suddenly felt out of breath.  He shook his head and quickly shook off the pain so that no one would notice, and luckily enough, no one seemed to notice.  He hated to have to hide his condition from Trish and Kyle, but he didn’t want to make them suffer, so he had to endure the pain in silence.  “Jexana…I won’t let you ruin the happiness I’ve earned with Trish and Kyle!” he said to himself, and then, after a few minutes, Carl and Wilbur came back, and Carl seemed much more relaxed now.  “Well then friends, we’ll get to the time machine reparations as quick as possible!” he said enthusiastically, and with that, they headed towards the ruined time machine, and Lewis started on the repairs.  “I’ll be right back Lewis, be sure to keep working on the time machine, I’ll look for more tools, okay?” he said.  “All right, will do!” Lewis said, and Ventus, Trish and Kyle stepped in to help him.

---

Meanwhile, outside of the Robinson residence, a tall, slender, black caped man with a bowler hat stood on a nearby hill, with a devious smile on his face.  The hat he was wearing suddenly moved, for it was a robot with four legs!  The man smiled and petted the hat. “Well Doris, it looks like we’ve got an interesting turn of events, now don’t we?” he said while twirling his moustache.  Doris, the little robot chirped and squeaked in approval, and so the man got on his time machine and he hovered above the house, and he headed back towards his secret lair.  “Ah yes, with the device from the science fair, I’ll make so much money, and I’ll make sure that Robinson never sees any success ever again!” he proclaimed, as he laughed in merry joy, reveling in his evil plan, for apparently he had a grudge against the Robinsons.  He decided that he would keep a close eye on Wilbur’s new friends, and when the time was right, he would be able to enact his plan specifically to his calculations.  “This will be perfect Doris, absolutely perfect!” the man said, and Doris nodded and placed herself back on the man’s head.

---

Back at the garage, Ventus, Trish and Kyle were hard at work with Lewis, trying to fix the time machine.  After a while, they took a little break, and then Ventus sat beside Lewis.  “So, your excited to fix this thing up?” Ventus asked cheerfully.  Lewis nodded and he looked down at his hands.  “Yeah.  If I do this, I’ll be able to see my mom…I’ve always wondered how she looks like.” he said distantly.  At that moment, Ventus felt such sympathy towards Lewis, for he could easily relate to him, seeing as how he’s searching for his parents as well.  “You know Lewis, we aren’t so different when it comes to how we feel.  I’m looking for my parents too…” he said, offering a smile of comfort, masking his sadness.  Lewis tilted his head.  “Wow, really?  Well, I hope we both achieve our goals, right?” Lewis asked with a smile.

Ventus nodded. “Of course, we’ll get to our goals. Guaranteed!” he said with determination.  Sudddenly, a noise could be heard from outside.  “Huh, what was that?” Lewis asked alarmed.  Trish summoned her Keyblade and shook her head.  “Lewis, stay here.  Ventus, Kyle and I will take care of this.” she said in a serious tone.  Lewis nodded.  “Alright, will do!” he said, and with that, Ventus, Trish and Kyle headed outside, where it was raining.  At first, they didn’t see anyone or anything, but they remained cautious in any case.  “Guys…I have a bad feeling about this.” Kyle said in a hushed tone.  Just then, the noise was heard again.  Only when Ventus looked up did he notice what was making the noise, and it was directly falling down on Trish.  “Look out!” Ventus shouted, and he pushed Trish aside and received the blow.

“Dad!” Kyle shouted, as Ventus was crushed by the strange thing that fell on him.  No sooner that he got near Ventus, the strange thing disintegrated into small, bowler hat robots with razor blades, and Ventus was in the ground, unconsciouss and possibly fatally wounded.  “No!!!” Trish shouted, tears rolling down her face.  She and Kyle went through the throngs of robots, taking down every single one of them, but more came and took their place, and things were proving to be difficult now.  “Get out of the way!” Kyle shouted in anger, as he took out a dozen of the robots in no time flat, demonstrating his exceptional swordsmanship.  Trish used Thundaga to electrocute the remaining robots, and they were finally able to defeat them all.  After making certain that there weren’t any more of the robots, they quickly headed to Ventus’ side.  He was still unconsciouss, and now Kyle and Trish were fearing the worst.  “D-dad?” Kyle suttered, trying to shake him awake.  But nothing happened.  Trish touched Ventus’ face and checked his pulse.  “Ventus…Ven, please don’t leave us!” she said in tears.

Ventus, in the meantime, was struggling to wake up.  He could see Trish and Kyle’s suffering faces, and he was desperately calling out to them, but they didn’t seem to hear him.  It’s as if he was behind glass, and he was pounding on it, trying to break free of this unconsciousness.  “Guys, help me!” Ventus shouted as loud as he could, but they still couldn’t hear them.  All that he saw was them crying, thinking he was dead.  As he continued to struggle to wake up, he heard a soft laugh.  When he turned around, he noticed that it was none other than Jexana!  “You again!  What have you done to me!?” Ventus shouted, clenching his fists and summoning his Keyblade.  Jexana simply smiled and walked towards him.  “The process is nearing completion.  In a matter of hours, you’ll be mine.” she said in a calm and unworrysome tone.  Ventus opened his eyes wide and he shook his head.  “No, my heart belongs to Trish, and you can’t change that!” he growled.  Jexana simply put her finger on his lips.  “Oh, I can and I will change your heart’s desires.  You’ll see.” she said with a smirk.

“No!” Ventus shouted, and he desperately charged at Jexana, attempting to attack her, but she simply raised her hand and sent him back flying.  “No dear, I believe that won’t do.” Jexana said.  “Be a good boy and you’ll receive a reward.” she said, feeling confident that her plan would go accordingly.  Ventus groaned in pain and saw Trish and Kyle’s faces, filled with sorrow.  Soon after Lewis and Wilbur came out, along with a few more people, and he saw that they were carrying his body inside the Robinson residence.  “They think I’m dead…” he said softly.  Jexana nodded.  “That’s right.  But when you awaken, you’ll be inches away from being mine.  And after I’ve finally made you mine, we’ll go to Master Xylek, and we can travel to many more worlds together!” she said in a triumphant tone.

Seeing as how he could do nothing more, Ventus stayed quiet, and he looked on as Lewis and Wilbur showed Trish and Kyle to the guest room, and they put his body on one of the beds.  Kyle was crying, sitting beside his body, and Trish was hugging him, wiping off his tears and comforting him.  Wilbur and Lewis said they’d be sure to help Ventus get healed.  The other people, who turned out to be the Robinson family, attended to Ventus’ needs.  “Jexana…you’ll pay for this…you’ll pay for all the suffering your making my family and friends go through…” he said, clenching his fists and glaring at Jexana.  But Jexana remained unflinching.  “All those words won’t mean a thing when your mind and heart are mine.  It’s useless to fight back.  You should just surrender to me now, and you’ll save yourself from more pain.” she said with a devious smirk.

Ventus couldn’t believe what he was hearing.  Why was Jexana so obsessed with having him?  He already belonged to Trish, so why is Jexana insisting on taking him for her own?  He wrestled with these thoughts in his mind, and he just couldn’t bring himself to terms with what was happening.  He again started calling out to Trish and Kyle, who were by his side, but they couldn’t hear him.  Hope was now beginning to fade from Ventus’ heart, as there was no escaping this nightmare he was experiencing.  Jexana then came and hugged him from behind and she kissed his neck.  “Don’t worry my love.  You won’t need them.  I’ll make you happy, and you won’t need anything or anyone else.  You’ll have all you need right here with me.” she said, her voice soothing and seductive.  Ventus started crying.  “You’re a monster…” he said, tears rolling down his cheeks, feeling tired and defeated. Jexana remained silent and continued hugging Ventus.  She truly loved him, but Ventus didn’t have the same feelings for her.  At least, not yet.  “Ventus…you will be mine, heart, body, mind and soul.” she whispered softly, as Ventus continued shedding tears.

-------------------------------------------------------------

And so, Ventus is on the brink of falling into Jexana’s spell.  Will he be able to be saved from this horrible fate?  Will Trish and Kyle be able to reach him from the nightmare he’s in?  That will have to wait, for next chapter, Riku, Dawn, Kairi and Mickey come upon someone who may be abel to help them in their search for Sora, Donald and Goofy.  What will happen?  Be prepared for Chapter 30: “A Way Into The Darkness.”

Dang gun! Ventus either needs Terra and Aqua to enter his heart and eject Jexana out of him or the Child of Kingdom Hearts needs to come into play here. Fantastic!

In Chapter 28, Dexeres said that Terra and Aqua haven't been heard from for a long while, I doubt they'd be appearing this soon. Besides, I think that Trish and Kyle will free Ventus, since they are his family, it would be more appropriate for them to free him.

Hey there everyone, how’s it going?  Well then, we’re already in May, and I’m already 19, and so here comes another chapter of my story!  Only 20 more chapters and you’ll all see the conclusion!  Sorry for the delay in chapters though, I’ve been spending time with my bro and sister in law, whom are leaving tomorrow for the US, so I’ve been prioritizing spending time with them.  Now then, here’s the next chapter, I hope that you all enjoy it! :D

Chapter 30: A Way Into The Darkness

As the sun slowly rose from the mountainside, a new day dawned in the Majestic Valley.  The Powhatan tribe was already busy at work fortifying their defenses after the attack they had suffered under the hands of Xeromo.  But luckily, Riku, Dawn, Kairi and Mickey had been there to help Pocahontas fight Xeromo, but even then, they had almost tasted defeat.  It was only after Dawn had released her inner power that Xeromo had been felled.  But even then, she didn’t remember having released such power, and no one else bore witness to it, since Riku, Kairi and Mickey had been unconscious.  Chief Powhatan was on a small hill, deep in thought, and Riku walked towards him.  “Excuse me, honorable chief, but I believe we’d best be going now.” Riku said respectfully.  Powhatan turned around and put his hand on Riku’s shoulder.  “There is no need for you to leave.  You are more than welcome in our tribe.” he said with a reassuring smile.  Appreciating Powhatan’s hospitality, Riku offered a sincere smile, but there was no time to discuss the matter, for he knew they had to leave.

“I really appreciate your hospitality, Chief Powhatan, but my friends and I need to be going now.  We need to make sure no one else harms this village, like the man who had attacked us.  So we have to go.” he said with as much respect as possible.  Powhatan nodded and understood the situation.  “Very well then.  May you have a safe journey, and please, take care of yourself and your friends.  And thank you for all your help.” he said, bowing appreciatively.  Riku smiled and bowed back, and then he turned around and walked down the hill, where Dawn, Kairi and Mickey were waiting.  “Well guys, let’s go.  We can’t linger here any longer.” Riku said, and everyone nodded in unison.  As they walked through the village, they saw the tribe waving to them in appreciation, with smiles on their faces.

Dawn looked around and noticed Pochanotas was nowhere to be seen.  “Hey guys, where’s Pocahontas?” she asked.  The others shrugged, for they didn’t know.  As they walked out of the village, they felt a cold, refereshing breeze flow through them, and they had renewed hopes and strength to keep on going on their journey.  Just then, they saw Pocahontas up high, near a waterfall, looking towards the distance, where a ship with tall, white sails was slowly passing by.  Dawn was about to shout her name, but the wind blew strongly again, and when she looked again, Pocahontas is gone.  “She disappeared!” Dawn said with a gasp.  Kairi put her hand on Dawn’s shoulder and smiled.  “Don’t worry, she’ll be okay.” she said confidently, and Dawn smiled as well.  “Yeah, your right!” she said, as they followed Riku and Mickey.

As they continued walking throught he woods, they were all at a loss as to where they should be heading now.  Mickey sighed and he looked up towards the bright morning sky, and then he looked towards the distance, where more trees could be seen.  “Gosh fellas, at this rate, we won’t get anywhere with our search!  Isn’t there anyway that we can be able to find Sora, Donald and Goofy?” he said curiously.  Dawn shook her head sadly and looked down.  “I’m sorry.  I can only feel their hearts, but I can’t pinpoint their location.  It’s as if there’s a barrier blocking my powers.  I can’t see where they are…but I can only see that Sora is suffering…he’s suffered a grave wound.” she said softly, waiting for the words to sink in.  Kairi felt her heart drop, for she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.  “Grave w-wound?” she said weakly.  Dawn nodded in confirmation, looking towards Riku and Mickey, their faces filled with worry.  “I-I wish I could be stronger, I wish I could be of more help!” Dawn said softly, feeling useless.  Riku shook his head and put his hand on Dawn’s shoulder.  “You’ve tried your best.” he said reassuringly.

Dawn smiled a bit, but again she looked down, feeling distraught that she wasn’t able to know the location of Sora, Donald and Goofy.  “But how can we find them?” she asked.  Suddenly, they heard a voice that wasn’t too far away.  “Perhaps I can be of assistance.” the voice said.  Instantly, everyone summoned their Keyblades, but Dawn stood still, listening intently to the voice.  “Wait a second…I know that voice.” she whispered to herself.  Everyone was prepared for battle, but the voice spoke again.  “Fear not.  I am not your enemy.  Rather, I’d like you to consider me as an ally.” he said courteously.  Then Dawn came to the realization of who the voice was.  “Wait, that’s Valgard!” she said enthusiastically, and with that, Valgard came out from under a glade of trees, with a different set of clothes.  Now he had a tattered, long, light green cloak, and under the cloak he had a gray suit and bags with food and other supplies.  Dawn quickly went to Valgard and hugged him, and he smiled and hugged back, and everyone was relieved, and they unsummoned their Keyblades.

“Keyblade Wielders, it is an honor to meet you all in person.  I am Valgard, a guardian, if you will, of the worlds.  I am Dawn’s friend, and my only wish is to help you in your predicament.” he said reassuringly.  Riku looked at Valgard for a moment and crossed his arms.  “Wait, you’re a guardian?  If so, why haven’t you come and helped us before?” he asked.  Valgard shook his head and looked towards the distance.  “I know what you are thinking.  I too, share your sentiment.  The Elder is the one who commands us, and therefore it is not our place to question his authority.  Thus, that is why we are invisible to all worlds.  We never show our face, we never physically show ourselves to those we aid.  But I am here, disobeying The Elder’s orders, because I am following my heart, and it is telling me to assist you, for if Sora, Donald and Goofy are not freed, they shall meet a terrible fate.” he said, the wind blowing through his hair.

Dawn smiled and tears of joy rolled down her face.  “Thank you so much Valgard.” she said as she hugged him.  Valgard smiled and then looked at her and then turned his gaze towards Riku, Kairi and Mickey.  “Do not thank me yet, for there is still work to do.  Now then, you are all searching for Sora, Donald and Goofy’s prison.  Follow me, and I shall show you where it lies.” he said in a hushed tone. Mickey looked at Valgard curiously.  “How come we’re speaking so softly?” he whispered.  Valgard turned around and looked at both sides.  “There are eyes everywhere.” he said softly, and with that, he opened a portal of light with his Keyblade, and then he notioned for them to go through it.  With that, they went through the portal, with Valgard being the last one to go in before it closed.

At the other side, they arrived to a fortress, and they seemed to be in the lower levels.  Dawn quickly familiarized herself with the fortress and then she gasped.  “But this is my home!” she said in a hushed tone.  Valgard signaled her to be quiet, for nearby voices could be heard.  Valgard slowly peeked up the stairs, and he noticed that it was Trevor and Shira who were speaking to each other.  “So, where do you think he went off to?” Trevor asked.  Shira shrugged and leaned her back against the wall.  “I’m not sure.  He probably went off to do an errand for The Elder, or perhaps he’s scouting the worlds to check the Unborn’s latest activities.” she said calmly.  Valgard then looked down and signaled for everyone to follow his lead.  Dawn then tugged at Valgard’s arm and looked at him.  “But what if Shira or Trevor sees you?” she asked with a worried tone.  He simply nodded and smiled.  “Do not worry, Shira knows of what is happening.  She is also assisting us.” he said, and witht that, Dawn sighed of relief.  “Now come, let us be on our way.” he said quietly.  With that, Riku, Dawn, Kairi and Mickey quickly followed Valgard through the fortress, being as silent as possible.

Minutes passed, but luckily, they weren’t spotted by any of the other counsel members.  Valgard then signaled everyone to climb up to the watchtower, and after they did so, he pointed out towars the far horizon, where a distorted cloud of darkness could be seen eerily dangling above the wide plain.  “There is where you will find your friends.  For many weeks now, that ominous cloud of darkness has loomed ever closer, and ever since it appeared, I had felt a terrible omen in my mind.  I had gone to investigate what lied beyond that fog, and when I was able to see clearly, I saw a fortress, a terrifyingly giant fortress, one that can apparently shift its entire structure in any worlds it comes across.  It seems that our enemies are bent on capturing our fortress.” he said in a grim tone.  Riku looked onwards towars the cloud of darkness and then he turned to face Valgard. “And that’s where Sora, Donald and Goofy are being held?” Riku asked.  Valgard nodded.  “Yes.  I could feel their presence when they were captured, and I know they are there.” he said in confirmation.

Kairi quickly nodded and she raised her fist.  “Then what are we waiting for?  We have to go and rescue them!” she said.  “We need to go into the enemy fortress before it’s too late!”  They all agreed, and then Valgard silently nodded, leading them down the watchtower and into an empty hall, and then he headed over to the counsel room, where it was pitch black.  “Are you sure it’s safe to be here right now?” Dawn asked quietly.  Valgard nodded.  “Worry not.  Everyone else is in their sleeping chambers.” he said.  After a few seconds, he headed towards the back of The Elder’s seat, and he opened up a secret door that led to the back of the fortress.  “Normally, you cannot cross towars the back of the fortress due to a strong magical barrier that The Elder created to repel outside invaders, but this door leads to the outside, where you’ll be able to cross this field to the cloud of darkness.” he explained.

(Start Song Here)

As he finished his explanation, Kairi stepped towards him and bowed in respect.  “Thank you for all that you’ve done.  We appreciate everything.  Thanks to you, Sora, Donald and Goofy will be saved.” she said in gratitude.  Valgard smiled and bowed back in respect.  “It was my honor to have been in your presence.” he said, but suddenly, a bright light flared and lit up the counsel room, and much to Valgard’s dismay, The Elder was perched on his seat, with the other counsel members in their respective seats.  Dawn’s face quickly flushed.  “It cannot be!” Valgard cursed under his breath.  The Elder glared at Valgard and shook his head in disappointment.  “I cannot believe you Valgard.  You have led the Keyblade Wielders right into our doorstep.  Have you nothing to say for yourself?” he asked in a demanding tone.

Valgard remained silent, and so The Elder glared again.  “I will ask again.  What have you to say for yourself?” he asked a bit more demanding, this time sending in Trevor, who had Shira in restraints.  “Or do you want Shira to suffer for your actions?” he asked grimly.  Valgard gasped.  “Shira, no!” he shouted, and the other counsel members did nothing but look on in sadness.  Dawn quickly stood at the center of the counsel and she spread her arms wide.  “It wasn’t Valgard’s fault, he had nothing to do with this!  It was all my fault!” she shouted, in tears.  “Silence!” The Elder shouted, as he walked towards Dawn and slapped her face.  Riku flared in anger but Dawn signaled him to stop.  The Elder turned to face Valgard and then summoned his Keyblade.  “Valgard, your acts of releasing Dawn without my permission and aiding the Keyblade Wielders is the ultimate act of treason!  The penalty is death!” he shouted.  Valgard simply stood up and breathed in slowly.  “I will accept the consequences of my actions, and I will face the penalty…” he said grimly.  Riku then quickly stood in front of Valgard and spread his arms wide.  “Stop this right now!” he shouted.  The Elder stood still for a moment then laughed.  “Ha, what’s this?  A Keyblade Wielder standing in my way?” he asked mockingly.

Riku glared at The Elder and shook his head.  “Can’t you see that this is pointless!?  We’re both fighting for the same goal: to stop the forces of darkness and retain peace throughout the worlds.  So why do you have to do this!?” Riku asked furiously.  The Elder stayed silent for a moment and then he activated his armor.  “Young one, you will never understand.  No matter how much I explain, you will never understand the fragile balance that everything has.  You are not worthy of protecting the worlds!  Only the counsel and I can be bestowed with that duty!  And any who stand in our way are treated as traitors!” he shouted demandingly.  Afer that, Kairi, Mickey and Dawn stood up and summoned their Keyblades.  “Then we’re all traitors!” Mickey said.  The Elder shook his head in disapproval, and then he raised his Keyblade in the air.  “Everyone, attack!” he shouted, his voice echoing through the chamber walls.

(End Song Here)

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Now our heroes have fallen into a difficult predicament.  Will they be able to fight off The Elder and his counsel?  Will our heroes be able to knock some sense into them?  Will they even be abel to make it out of the fortress to save Sora, Donald and Goofy?  That will have to wait, for next chapter, Vanitas, Xion and Dexeres come upon a turn of events.  Stay tuned for Chapter 31: “The Pieces Are Coming Together.”
